That little distraction of a bar room brawl between the Hunters and the Good (capital G so you understand it’s about us Mages), has not distracted us from our common enemy.

… may think we have dropped the ball, turned our backs, forgiven them for past indiscretions.

Which is why, while I mourn the loss of a Great Mage blogger and rejoice at his tardy switch to fiction.

I mean, who can not love a category list like this:

I do not forget that which the Warlocks have forged.  In fact, inspired by Rip’s words such as:

Saresa. In honour of warlocks such as yourself, every six months I level one to twenty and then delete it whilst cackling.

Megan. I’d let you corpse camp me any day. If you know what I mean. And I mean SEX.

Hang on, that last one doesn’t quite fit what I am really trying to say… but I am inspired to queue on the corpse pile.

I second Rip’s thoughts on Jong as well… I mean any man with the audacity to tame BigBearButt for his alt Hunter is a god among gods. (and if you missed Jong’s temp post… well… maybe it’s time you subscribed to his secret feed)

Anyway.. back on topic, I to have been tardy in revealing the other entries in the Save a Soul Today competition I was running.

There is a kind of strange irony in these last two entries.. if you recall, I was calling upon Mages (primarily) to either CC and screenshot a Warlock, or describe a 10 step rehabilitation program for the poor lost souls (no not the stones, the evil keepers of the stones).

The irony is, that these two entries are from.. (more…)

Certain Hunter’s, who shall remain nameless, (I can’t remember their names anyway) say there are no good Mage Bogs (or at least there is one good Mage blog & Me – being a Misleading Mage Blog… I’m telling you it’s ME!).

Certain Mage bloggers (like ALL of us) disagree (Well, OK, I am a Misleading Mage blog, but there are more than one good Mage Blog).

One of us is taking action to bring awareness to the great unwashed horde of Hunters, and more importantly the fledgling or expert Mages of our World of Warcraft.

No.. it is not me.  I will not risk losing my Misleading title!

Sensibly this isn’t an attempt to write every Mage guide every written, this is an attempt to build a page or resources to the many excellent, but maybe obscure references to Magedom spread around the Blogsphere.

This is where you come it.

Suggest it:

His list is just off the ground, it’s currently a short, but very sweet collection of resources.  I knew when I threw my eye over it, that there was much more out there – MUCH MORE!

The question is… where?

So if you:

  • Know of an active Mage Blog or resource
  • Know of excellent Mage posts

Drop GamerGaz a line and fill him in (more…)

Oh Lordy, it looks like my attempt at being THE Misleading Mage is being misled by other Mages wanting to prove their power.

Of course those damn hunters may have been wrong… maybe there aren’t just 2 Mage blogs with one being misleading… maybe there are many more but lots of us are misleading.

No wonder I only rate 23rd on this months Misleading Mage charts!

So, rather than what was planned, I present to you the master of the misleading, Rivs of A High Latency Life, with:

Misleading Mage posts:

Importance of Looking Good.

I came to realize there are many challenges that face classes today, for example,  Hunters it’s figuring out how to name their pet. It has to be hard otherwise why would there be so many pets named “Spider” or “Cat”.  The Mage class is no different, and with so many new races able to become mages, I thought I would share. If your a newly minted mage, or an old timer who seen ICC more then the back of your mouse hand, we have one major obstacle, or challenge if you will.. We need to look good, and being a Mage of the Finest Caliber I am here to help with a few things you could do to help make yourself look good (more…)

As mentioned yesterday, Larisa and I were asked some time back to write some guest posts for a Mage blogger that was (and maybe still is) returning to the fold.  I know real life was getting in the way and its a shame to waste informative posts like these.  After you read this you will realise how many Mage raid spots were lost just because this sat in draft for so long (like February long).

Strangely, Larisa departed from her normally sensible, informative posts to throw a bit of /sillyGnome about with her post.  It was her usual well written stuff, the kind that if you read between the lines you know that you will be a better player, if not Mage, if you follow her suggestions.

Every now and then, I feel it is my duty to step away from the /sillyGnome stuff, to write truly valuable posts that will benefit both novice and ArchMage alike, so here it is:

Misleading Mage posts:

Fire Mage Raid Preparation: Gnomeaggedon’s guide to one time raid invites

I’m honored to have been asked to write a guest post for the relaunch of this wonderful Fire Magely blog and what’s more been given a topic so very close to my Gnomish heart…

Fire Mage Raiding.

Now the thing is, well the things are, that:

  1. I only really get to raid on the odd PuG’s discretion these days and;
  2. When I do raid these days I make healer DPS look good, and;
  3. There are so many better sources of Fire Mage raiding information (like the blog you have found this post on) and of course;
  4. Gnomes is /silly

So in the interests of maintaining an appropriate level of silliness in the face of a deadly serious and burning topic, I present to you my preparations for Fire Mage Raiding.

The essential Fire Mage Raiding Checklist.

You need mats right?

How you going to get them?

None of this pussy Goblin buy low sell high business. It’s bad enough that people compare us to Goblins without sinking to their level.

Nope you need to get out and grind the mats for the essential consumables, the ones with the following attributes (more…)

In my attempt to assure you that I am the Misleading Mage Blogger (thus preventing others from suffering such an unjust accusation), I present to you a Misleading Mage post.

Better yet, its a guest post from my all time favorite MAGE Blogger.  Yes contrary to popular belief, she is not just a Mage that blogs, but is truly a Mage Blogger and so I present exhibit A:

Misleading Mage posts:

Agility and Attack Power – the essentials of a mage

A little while I got a request from an upcoming blogger who wanted me to write a guest post. It should be about what five elementals I thought would constitute a good overall Mage.

“Are you serious?” was my first reaction. Sure, I’ve been playing my beloved Mage for three years straight, but until this day I’ve hardly written anything about the Mage class that you could describe as even remotely useful.

However – when I was done coming up with all those excuses I thought: “what the heck, how bad could it be”? And I decided to approach the topic from a slightly different angle.

As it turned out, the blog that this post was intended for never took of. So I came up with this cunning plan, to dump it on my neighbor blogger, Gnomeaggedon.

Since his blog is already full of misleading information, I thought that this post might fit in as well.

And with this introduction, ladies and gentlemen, I will now present you five stats that I think are essential to anyone planning to play a Mage. Maybe not the ones you think of at first (more…)

Here I am!

I’m the misleading Mage..

I mean it has to be me, right?

There are only two Mage bloggers and one of them give misleading information.

Well, I don’t give accurate theorycrafting mumbo-jumbo that is more appropriate in an engineering manual.

Which poses a dilemma… if I am the misleading Mage, who is the one with the good information?

It could have been Euripedes… NO NOT THAT euripides, OUR Euripedes… the good one, the cool one, the one we are crying about losing but excited about his fiction blog.

It could be one of the other 69 (/snicker) Mages on my Mage blog roll… more maybe the other dozen that I have been too busy to add.

It could have been Larisa.. after all, she is a respected blogger… she’s a blogging Mage, if not a Mage Blogger… well she is that, was that, her earlier posts go very close to theorycraft, but really, like all Mages she has grown beyond the numbers, the rotations, the…

you’re a noob if you don’t do x

She is not just intelligent, she is sophisticated.

Alright.. she’s HAWT! (but maybe only a Gnome can appreciate that!)

More to the point, maybe only Mages can appreciate that.. you see there are some very important differences between Hunters and Mages and this is very apparent in the bloggers that write about them

We is Smart, they is dumb!

Well, of course intelligence is relative.. (more…)
