Mandatory Authentication = Cataclysm box + Authenticator – I hope not!

There is a lot of talk about Mandatory authentication for WoW.

I think this is a great idea. Most people that don’t like it, don’t like it for the most feeble reasons.

It’s like seat belts…

Don’t make seat belts mandatory, I’m a safe driver!

Yet seat belts have saved more lives on the road than any other safety feature – the lives of the stupid and innocent alike.

Ship it with Cataclysm

This is the bit I don’t like.

It’s a great idea, make sure everyone gets an authenticator, then make authentication mandatory.

I still don’t like it.

I’ve got one! How many you got? How many do you need?

You see I’ve got one. I’ve got my Core Hound pet too. I read and hear a lot about people that have more than one. iPhone app, standard one, Blizzcon one… They’re collecting the set! (more…)

It’s the Tank’s Fault!

Nerf 'em!

BBB mentioned this the other day (did I tell you I love BBB? I always save up his posts and gorge myself on them!).

Well OK, he didn’t say it was the Tanks fault… but I’m good at taking a phrase out of context and trying to ram that down your throat. He did basically say that Tanks DPS is currently OP.

They should be TPS machines, not DPS machines.

Let’s face it, no one has to grind dailies in their tank spec any more (well, unless the off spec is heals I guess… Mmmm then a gain that isn’t so bad.. I was doing higher dps than the tank and one DPS in HVH the other night… yeah I was meant to be healing … Sssshhhh!)

Anyway, I believe…

No, I know, that one of the reasons that DPS & damage is so low for some dps toons is that the tanks are insane…

Well their damage output is insane.

No, my 1st statement was probably correct..

Tanks are INSANE!

Go on.. Nerf 'em!

I’m pretty sure I have bitched about this before, most likely in a throw away line in a throw away post.

The thing is with my increased playtime, the increased gear availability, overgeared alts, the ROLFSTOMPA heroics and the LFG Naxx10 must have 5,000 GS and ICC achievement mentality that seems to permeate the game right now, it just seems that every time I enter a raid I am surrounded by…

One Wipe Pansies.

What is a One Wipe Pansy?

Maybe the most common example of their occurrence is the best way to answer that question.

Dear Healers, Do Your Freakin Job!!!

Hands up if you are a healer that is drinking more than usual lately?

NO!

See that’s the problem with healers, they just don’t get it!

BOOZE, not mana food!

  • If the DPS dies in the bad- HEALERS FAULT!
  • If the 40k (DPS masquerading as) Tank gets 3 shot in regular UK – HEALERS FAULT!
  • If the DPS die to the Whirlwind – HEALERS FAULT!
  • If the dps of the DPS is too low – HEALERS FAULT!
  • If their pet rabbit escapes from it’s cage, jumps on a ship to India and gets run over by a camel in downtown Delhi – HEALERS FAULT!
  • If the healer is OOM on every trash pull – HEALERS FAULT!
  • HEALERS FAULT!
  • HEALERS FAULT!
  • HEALERS FAULT!
  • HEALERS FAULT!
  • HEALERS FAULT!
  • HEALERS FAULT!
  • HEALERS FAULT!

If you’re THAT 1337, GTFO of my Random Dungeon!

It’s a little thing scratching at the back of my mind, but it’s become an aggravating pain since Dechion’s and BBB’s posts have been hijacked from arsehat behaviour to “Dechion is not 1337 enough to play in my sandpit”.

It has been refreshed by the relatively friendly combat occurring on Arioch’s  Clearcasting, starting in the comments of OK in UK, spawning a guest post by Dark/Soth and a rebuttal on DotsandHots which then lead to baseball analogies by Arioch, and even Jong’s point of view.

Heroics don’t belong to anyone and the certainly don’t belong to the 1337!

The objective of the is to provide fun while gearing you for later 1337ness.

I’ve got a GearScore… It’s somewhere between 1 and 5000. I know it was 4554 a week or so ago.

A friend looked me up while he snowman danced with me, otherwise I would have no idea.

I did some Ulduar

Off tangent for a moment, I’ll bring it back on course I promise.

Back a day or so before appearing on TNB, I did a couple of bosses in Ulduar. We only got Flame Leviathan and XT down, wiped on Razorscale and chucked it in. It was a late night, spur of the moment thing so no wucking furries.

Can you heal Ulduar10 hardmode?

I was in LookingForRaid when I got the whisper. I said I doubted it, but if it was normal I’d be ok.

He asked for GearScore and Achievements and I foolishly said yes (more…)

I’m the “let me teach you tadpole” kind of Gnome… Generally…

Background

I rolled a Gnome Dwarf Night Elf Human Draenei Shaman. I was inspired by Larisa‘s baby Druid and Ydraisa’s comment about leveling in innocence.

Ultimately I want a healer, but don’t want another Pally, Druid or Priest. So I rolled a Shaman. I tried every Alliance race combination, knowing full well there was no choice in the matter. I tried them twice, three times, then accepted my only “option” was Draenei (more…)

Buffing Mages: A Short History

I am a little disappointed in my Magely Blog colleagues at the moment, it’s all Q to the power of Q.

Sure it’s nerf to cover up the nerf that we noticed while another nerf was being slipped in, but let’s be a bit more positive about this.

What other class can claim such a high level of energy has been expended on it’s one signature (now sadly ignored) spell.

The global economy is in a meltdown, and so are our skills.

Alright enough crap comparisons to the economy, I will stick to crap commentary on WoW.

On of the things I have found recently is how devalued certain skills have become.  I was reminded of this the other day by Part Time Druid, and also by someone else that now escapes me (although Big Bear Butt’s discussion about 360 tanking made me /cry a little inside). Oh found another one from Tobold Seen any sheeps lately?

It just seems that in an effort to make everything playable by everyone, it is all becoming quite… well a bit plain.  Sort of like pre-work life when Granny gave you $5 in your Christmas card and you couldn’t contain your enthusiasm… then you get a job, and you start to look sideways at the stingy old bag (bless her soul – you warlocks keep your filthy soul shards of it!).  Now in reality there is the same emotion and even power behind the gift of the cash (or skill/spell etc), but you can’t help but feeling let down.

AoE

Back before WoLK hit the shops, just before that is, when the 3.0 changes came out, I was jumping from Thunder Bluff in joy.. AoE as a fire Mage became sooo much fun.  It was new and powerful.  Blizzard told us it would be much more important, we couldn’t imagine how AoE was going to make us the Kings & Queens of DPS, but for the time being it was just pure Win!
