So a week ago I embarked on the long, long daily quest grind to get Exalted with the Sons of Hodir.

There was only one reason for doing so, and it had nothing to do with the reported excellent quest line, daily gold gains, or even the quiet chuckle at the innuendo that surrounds the Sons of Hodir… Thrusting Hodir’s spear… seriously…

Greater Inscription of the Storm

No, it was all about one thing, and one thing only, increasing my performance.

I am not a big fan of dailies.  I am still not exalted at Sunwell, even though every man and their 2nd Alt is.  Argent Tournament is one of those things to kill time.  The idea of doing 40 days worth of dailies, probably 1 or 2 a week, just sent shivers down my spine.  I had heard that you can “glitch” the quest line (more…)

Mr Offspec & I

My Mr offspec post from yesterday was intended as a tongue-in-cheek poke at an old mate of mine (who carried the “Mr Offspec” tag in his guild note for quite a while), primarily for those mates that I know read this blog, but also for general entertainment.

Arioch has probably captured my thoughts perfectly, but as my wife will tell you…

I can’t tell a story in a couple of words, when I could write a book about it instead.

About Us
Now to be fair, we do in fact have a system to handle main spec rolls and off spec rolls, through to DE’ing and distribution processes… so generally, there wouldn’t (shouldn’t) be an issue with a Mr Offspec situation.

We are a close knit group of 7 mates that play on a Friday night, while we all want a bit of loot, it is extremely common for any one of us to pass on an item to ensure that the group as a whole is better equipped, thus a) more capable of downing any boss/encounter and b) the loss of any one member of the party will not be so detrimental as to automatically equal a wipe (4 horseman on Friday is a good example, where even though the 2 top DPS went down early, while 9 manning the encounter, we still managed to pull through).

Our Goal

Our current goal is to gear up the group (more…)

Mr Offspec

Mr Greedy

We all know one.

Mr Perfect

Probably run with one on a regular basis.

Mr Grumpy

They are the sort that have been playing multiple specs long before dual specs existed (more…)

GNoLootForggedon

Nothing, nada, not a single brass razzoo, just a small crappy pile of dust.

I think it’s time to hit the AH and buy a whole bunch of worthless junk in the hope that the RNG smiles on me twice per boss, once on the drop and once on the roll.

But before I get into that, let me bring you up to speed on by week.

As you know I had been contemplating chucking it in, but I got news through the week that a couple of mates might be rejoining us. Admittedly one won’t be clear of his other obligations for a couple of months, but there is light at the end of his tunnel (more…)

WWS

See I am still here!

Karch has been doing a great job answering his readers questions (why don’t I get questions? Oh yeah, I had one about whether you should stay Fire spec back in TBC. Apart from that they are just questions about help getting $millions out of Nigeria)

Anyway he had one the other day about how to fix low DPS, which prompted me to respond asking when do you know if your DPS is too low and does it really matter.

Now admittedly if you are only doing 1,000 DPS and you aren’t doing burning crusade content at level 70, then your DPS is too low.

I have seen on various forums that numbers such as 1,200 – 1,400 is acceptable for starting heroics and 1,400 to 1,600 is acceptable for starting Naxx (more…)

Saturday Night’s alright to Party: but leave the Death Knights at Home!

The weekend that was… pretty good when all is said an done.

Friday night was Naxx10 night, but it took a while to get the group together.

All 7 of us mates where ready and waiting, but some nights it’s so hard to find just one more.

Unfortunately the “one more” we got was a Mage…. (Actually fortunately, he wasn’t that well geared, but knew his job, and his main dropped in to help us with Gluth) (more…)

Rawr

Ages and ages ago, I made a post about my search for a Mage gear spreadsheet.

It has proven to be one of my most read posts, while also being one of my least commented posts.

I guess people are just using it for the links to the tools that I dismissed.

Anyway, now I am 80 the time has come for comparisons once again, so I have started looking about for tools again. (more…)

Auto looting: missed by that much

Patch 3.1.1.1.1…. Is treating me pretty well I think, but I wouldn’t be my usual well adjusted Gnomish self if I didn’t bitch about something, so…

Auto-looting is great.
One head goes into the boss’ sack and passes the badges about. The biggest issue is I often panic that I didn’t get the badge, but all good.

Maybe I don’t need the spam when the other 24 folks get their badges, just tell me about mine.

Missed by that much…

Thing that annoys me about this is why couldn’t Blizzard go one teeny weeny step further and give us auto looting of quest drops. (more…)

WoW!

What a weekend!

I was at a LAN, but primarily to catch up with my old mates in person for a change.

No Vent lag when you are all in the same room.

Anyway, I decided to stand my mates up for our usual (traditional) Friday night run. Instead I signed up for Guild Naxx raids for both Friday and Saturday nights. It’s so rare that I get to play both nights and combined with the chance to run Naxx 25, the opportunity was too good to miss.

Sorry guys, back with you next week!

So what did I do from Friday afternoon through to Sunday afternoon?

wowdawgs

I have to be the luckiest Gnome under the Azeroth sun!

I told you yesterday about my swag of achievements and loot from the Easter weekend, but I am wondering if that compares to the loot roll I won yesterday.

What’s better than a few pixels of in-game loot? (more…)
