Twinking your level 19 Warlock: Part 4. Enchanting your Twink

Part 4 of the twinking guide deals with enchants. I am going to list out those that are available for your gear, and let you decide which you want/can afford or can source.

Before I go any further, have you checked out Gun Loving Dwarf Chick‘s blog entry: Leveling With Style. It’s all about enchanting white items to increase your early leveling survivability, with the added advantage that you can trade the items between characters – that’s right, they aren’t soulbound!

Enchants to do/acquire:

• Head – Arcanums: +100 hp Libram of Constitution or Libram of Voracity +8 sta
• Back/Cloak- +70 Defense or 10 Shadow Resist or +5 ALL resists
• Chest- +100 Health Enchant
• Wrist/Bracer- +9 Stamina Enchant
• Hands/Gloves- +20 Shadow Power Enchant
• Legs/Pants- Arcanums (as above), Mystic Spellthread or Runic Spellthread
• Feet/Boots- Minor Speed Enchant
• Weapon- +22 Intellect Enchant / +30 spell damage

Cloak

• Enchant Cloak – Superior Defense: Requires: Illusion Dust x 8
• Enchant Cloak – Greater Resistance: Requires: Lesser Eternal Essence x 2, Heart of Fire, Core of Earth, Globe of Water, Breath of Wind, Ichor of Undeath
• Enchant Cloak – Lesser Shadow Resistance: Requires: Greater Astral Essence, Shadow Protection Potion

Chest

• Thick Armor Kit: +32 Armor (Chest, Legs, hands or Feet) Item level 25
• Heavy Armor Kit: +24 Armor (Chest, Legs, hands or Feet) Item level 15
• Enchant Chest – Major Health +100 Health: Requires: Illusion Dust x 6, Small Brilliant Shard
• Enchant Chest – Greater Stats: +4 All stats: Requires: Large Brilliant Shard x 4, Illusion Dust x 15, Greater Eternal Essence x 10

Bracer

• [Enchant Bracer - Superior Stamina] +9 Stamina: Requires: Illusion Dustx15

Hands:

• Enchant Gloves – Shadow Power +20 Shadow spell damage: Requires: Nexus Crystal x 3, Large Brilliant Shard x 10, Essence of Undeath x 6
  The hitch is you need to find someone that picked up the enchant in Ahn’Qiraj

Legs

Spellthreads

• Mystic Spellthread: +25 Spell damage, +15 Stamina
• Runic Spellthread: +35 Spell damage, +20 Stamina

Arcanums

• Lesser Arcanum of Constitution: +100 Health (details below)
• Lesser Arcanum of Voracity: +8 Stamina (details below)

Feet

• Enchant Boots – Minor Speed: +8% Run Speed increase: Requires: Small Radiant Shard, Aquamarine, Lesser Nether Essence
• Enchant Boots – Greater Stamina: +7 Stamina: Requires: [Dream Dust] (10)
• Enchant Boots – Boar’s Speed: Permanently enchant boots to give a minor movement speed increase (8%) and 9 Stamina: Requires: Large Prismatic Shard x 8, Primal Earth x8
  The hitch is Requires a level 35 or higher item.

Weapon

• Enchant Weapon – Spell Power: +30 Spell Damage
  The hitch is you need to find someone that picked up the enchant in Molten Core
• Enchant Weapon – Mighty Intellect: +22 Intellect: Requires: Large Brilliant Shard x 15, Greater Eternal Essence x 12, Illusion Dust x 20

What each of the arcanum do:

• Lesser Arcanum of Rumination – Libram drops in Blackrock Depths/Burning Steppes etc. – 150 mana
• Lesser Arcanum of Constitution – Libram drops in Blackrock Depths/Burning Steppes etc. – 100 hp
• Lesser Arcanum of Tenacity – Libram drops in Blackrock Depths/Burning Steppes etc. – 125 armor
• Lesser Arcanum of Resilience – Libram drops in Blackrock Depths/Burning Steppes etc. – +20 fire resistance
• Lesser Arcanum of Voracity – Libram drops in Blackrock Depths/Burning Steppes etc. – +8 str/agi/sta/int/spi (only 1 stat of the 5)
• Arcanum of Rapidity – Libram drops in Dire Maul – +1% haste to attacks (ranged/melee)
• Arcanum of Focus – Libram drops in Dire Maul – +8 healing and damage from spells
• Arcanum of Protection – Libram drops in Dire Maul – +1% to dodge

How to use the Arcanums:

If you’re gonna add these to a twink item follow these instructions:

BoE item

• You can run on your main (or get your lvl 55+ friend to do it for you) and do the simple quests.
• Night Dragons Breath is BoP, the Badlands soup is BoP, the Black Diamond is BoE! 30g… well.
• Hand in the quest, get the Lesser Arcanum and enchant
• Send through mail!

BoP item

• MUST get another lvl +55 person to do all the quests. (Night’s Dragon Breath is BoP as well as the Badlands Soup quest is non-repeatable and BoP!)
• When all the quests are completed, open trade with the lvl 55+ and get him to enchant your BoP item. (legs or head!)

Getting a Lesser Arcanum of Constitution

Must have:

• 1x Black Diamond (found in BRD or Action House)
• 1x Libram of Constitution
• 4x Dragon’s Breath (in Felwood)
• 1x Lung Juice Cocktail (reward from Blasted Lands quest)
• 30g

12 Step Guide:

1. Buy the Libram on Constitution off the AH. It’s not the only way to get one but it’s the easiest.
2. Buy the Black Diamond off the AH.
3. Go to Felwood and speak to Arathandris Silversky (54,86) she will give you Cenarion Beacon you do not need to do anything with this item just keep it in you inventory.
4. Do your specific tradeskill quests, or even easier, do “Salve via Disenchanting” is since there’s two options. It’s 1xLesser Nether Essence (take 2-4 = 2 salves per essence).
5. With Cenarion Beacon in your inventory go and kill the Jadefire NPCs (43,87, 39,44 or 43,16) they will now drop Corrupted Soul Shards
6. Once you have 6 Corrupted Soul Shards speak to Arathandris Silversky (54,86) again and you can complete the quest Salve via Hunting (6 shards is for one quest turn in, clear the Jadefire camp a couple times and you’ll get enough for 2 turn ins, you’ll need to do 2 turn ins)
7. The reward for Salve via Hunting is 2 Cenarion Plant Salves. Use 4 salves to cleanse the plant Corrupted Night Dragon. (1st: 35,60, 2nd: 50,30, 3rd: 40,78, 4th: 42,13 it takes about a half an hour before you can collect again)
8. Once cleansed Corrupted Night Dragon becomes a Cleansed Night Dragon and clicking on it will give you 3-10 Night Dragon’s Breath this is the 3rd of the 4 items you need for the final turn in.
9. I am not going into great detail on the 4th item you need for the final turn in because it is easy compared to the 3rd. Travel to the Blasted Lands (Nethergard Keep) and speak to Bloodmage Drazial (50,14)
10. He will give you the quest A Boar’s Vitality or Spirit of the Boar, they are the same quest. Vitality is the original and Spirit is repeatable. Just kill critters around the area. It’s an easy quest.
    The scorpids are right near the entrance with the hyena’s and vultures and the drop rate is fairly high. A little further south near defiler’s rise you can find the basilisks, who also have a fairly high drop rate, along with hellboars or Ashmane Boars, whose drop rates are quite a bit lower (This is what you’ll be grinding on for the longest time). Remember when you’re grinding that the hellboars, basilisks, and felhoudnds all share the same spawn point, so kill everything, it’ll keep the hellboars respawning much quicker! There’s also another variety of boar further east that will drop the blasted boar lungs as well. Once you’ve gathered everything, hope back over to Mathredis and you’re done!
11. Take the quest reward Lung Juice Cocktail along with the other 3 ingredients to the Burning Steppes and speak to Mathredis Firestar (65,23)
12. First he’ll give you the quest, Libram of Constitution, and then you can turn it in right away for Lesser Arcanum of Constitution.

Getting an Arcanum of Voracity

For your arcanum of voracity you will need:

• 1 Libram of Voracity (from AH)
• 4 Crystal Force from Un’ Goro
• Takes 10 Green Power Crystals and 10 Blue Power Crystals at the Eastern Pylon, coords for the Pylon are 77.49
• 4 Whipper root tuber: (40,85; 34,60; 43,46; 40,19; 50,18; 49,12)
  - Requires 3x Cenarion Plant Salves and you will obtain 3-10 from each plant
• 1 Black Diamond (AH)
• And also requires 30g

I pity people that sell Heavy Netherweave Bandages at the Auction House.

A while back a friend asked me to make up some high level tailored items then DE them for him. He has excessive amounts of netherweave and wanted to make some money off it. I put him straight, immediately. It’s not worth the effort. Just make Heavy Netherweave bandages and sell the to a vendor – 6g, straight up, no screwing around, no AH deposits or feed – Easy!

Day after Day, Week after Week, I buy a truckload of Heavy Netherweave bandages off the AH and sell them for a profit to a vendor! Why oh why would you sell Heavy Netherweave bandages on the Ah for less that 7g (let alone less that 6g) You can’t sell them for more? of course not, just go straight to the Vendor.. Do it Now!

I pity non-Enchanters.

Most of my time at the AH is spent buying green (and the occasional blue) items that people are trying to make money on. Good for you, you are lining my pockets. I pick up hundreds of items every week from the AH, that get sent off to my Enchanter to DE, turning those 1-3g trash greens into 5-20g enchanting mats.

So the question is, why aren’t you? Got time to level up an alt? Then make sure it’s an enchanter and farm the AH!

I am not sure if I make the majority of my AH cash from enchanting mats, but one thing is for sure, they are a constant income stream with very little risk.

I pity people without Auctioneer Addons (eg: Auctioneer Advanced)

This is the other way I make money on the Auction House. People’s ignorance (or naivety) of the value of items. People frequently post items between 10% – 50% of their AH value.

Now while I pity these people, I don’t take pity on them (OK, rarely I do. One time I sent some extra gold in the mail to a bloke that sold me an item well below it’s value. You know what the guy did? He return mailed me mats, free of charge, to make the item)

OK, so you don’t want to install AA, what do you do? How about AskPrice? Ask Price is a component of AA that will automatically respond with current valuation if you ask. Just type:
“How much for [this item]?” or “How much is [this item] worth?”

If there is an AA user in your channel, you will get a response.

Will it be correct, possibly not, but it is definitely more accurate that throwing darts at a dart board while blindfolded on a rocking boat.

Give these a try and see if you can fund you raid consumables!

Man I am lucky. I got the Sunfire Enchant. I can’t wait to enchant my new dagger with +50 Spell damage!

But wait, what’s this? How much do the mats cost?!?!

On my server, the mats for the following enchants cost:
Enchant Weapon – Major Spellpower = 220 gold
Reagents:
Large Prismatic Shard (8), Greater Planar Essence (8)

Enchant Weapon – Mongoose = 510 gold
Reagents:
Void Crystal (6), Large Prismatic Shard (10), Greater Planar Essence (8), Arcane Dust (40)

Enchant Weapon – Sunfire = 1020 gold
Reagents:
Void Crystal (12), Large Prismatic Shard (10), Greater Planar Essence (8), Primal Fire (6), Primal Might

1020 gold! Man, that’s insane! Yeah I realize that Mongoose user will probably have the enchant on 2 weapons, so it sort of costs the same to have the top enchant, but 1020 gold!

Now I probably have all the mats, and if not, I am sure I can get them, but is it worth it?

I got the PvP dagger because it’s probably the best I will get – but I might still get better…

The dagger already has Major Spellpower on it, giving +40 spell damage to Fire, Arcane and Frost. So is it really worth me dropping 1020 gold of mats for a +10 to Fire and Arcane, and -40 to Frost?

If it wasn’t already (recently) enchanted, then it would be a no-brainer. But right now, considering my eternal-Kara-progression level, I am having reservations.

What do you think:

• Upgrade enchant, or not?

Well here are two (sort of one, but I will call it 2) random tips on a couple of spots in the powerlevelling chain.

At the point you get to learn Superior Mana Oil (310) and later Superior Wizard Oil (340) it’s very tempting to revert back to traditional enchants once they become green.

But here’s the facts.
Creating these Oils until they are grey is the most effective way of levelling enchanting in these two stretches for 2 reasons:

1. Even if you don’t have a friendly herbalist to pick you some flowers, buying them on the Auction House (and even buying the Arcane dusts now that they are a dime a dozen) is cheaper than collecting the enchanting mats to reenchant some worthless item time and again, and much more time efficient than spamming trade channel.
2. Believe it or not, even if, against all probability it takes you 100 of each to get the 20 points in each to make the recipe grey, you WILL use them.  In fact, sooner than you think, you will be making more of them.

I did have some numbers floating around at some point, but that was a long time ago, and I can’t find the calculations… but it shouldn’t be too hard for you to scratch out some numbers on the back of a napkin.

So don’t waste your time and moey doing useless expensive enchants – fill your bank slots with Oils, level quickly and always be prepared to buff for raids and instances.

This is great news for a raft of reasons:
1) If you are into Arena, then you can now work on your rating for the season 4 rewards.

2) If you are like me, and don’t do Arena (due to time, lack of team mates and gear), but you do enjoy the occasion Battleground, then there are a pile of new PvP/Arena rewards now available to purchase with Honor and Marks.  See WoWWiki’s rewards by Season.

3) If (also like me) you are an enchanter and/or enjoy the AH meta-game, hen your enchanting skills and supplies with pull a premium price. 
Q. Why?
A. See points 1 & 2.  New gear = new enchants = more enchant mats = profit.

My only regret… Blizzard hasn’t increased the buying power of the T4 tokens (from Season 1 to Season 2).  I would have preferred to hand in my token for the welfare Season 2 gloves… Oh well.. season 1 will do.

Meanwhile I will be visiting the vendors to pick up my Season 2 Mainhand and Shoulders.  Also decided to grab the PvP Trinket (Medallion of the Alliance).  The cost was reduced to 8,000 honor with the introduction of the Epic one (40,000k honor is a bit out of my reach).

So this Friday I return to Kara (or ZA) after a hiatus of 3 weeks while I ground some honor and tokens, but with a couple of PvP items equipped.
