Yeah there are ways and means to speed up most of the achievements. Such as relying on people assuming that we aren't guarding a node (as Bronte above suggested) to pull off achievements like Overly Defensive.

Tickk used to be my bait, running of at the 1st sign off the Horde, waiting until they capped to regain their attention while I recapped. The source of many hours of jocularity.

Oh yes, bless those node guardians with ADHD, I rely on them so much. Those and the LM spotters who are carefully guarding the whole map, but not the node upon which they stand.

Of course people like that are a good reason to take some relatively trustworthy mates along. We will often guard nodes and let the pigs run free, as at least that way we shouldn't lose nodes, even if we don't gain any more. If things are rough, we will hand the nodes over to someone while we attempt a ninja cap (Slowfall + Invisibility FTW!)

Unfortunately the biggest problem in AB, nay, all BGs is this fascination with killing opposing players. Spotting an enemy player is the biggest "Taunt Moron" button known to a WoW player (aside from parking sieges I TB - but I digress). This leads to my biggest issue with these attempts: people guarding a base will obliviously go after a lone healer (who will never be brought down by a DPS and a healer) and move away from flag, rogue steps in, caps and suddenly the fight has gone four different kinds of sideways!
