It’s reasonably public knowledge that I’m a little bit crazy… Gnomeaggedon is completely off his tree, and even I the writer have had to deal with demons in my past.
I have completely outdone myself this time around by throwing a few innocent numbers around. Sure if you put them neatly side by side, you can see the Gnomeaggedon Code, an inkling of the insanity I have spread amongst the WoW Bloggers in the last few days, but to decode it, you would need to rely on a couple of real detectives, those that can draw together the seemingly unrelated to reveal the evil below.
Back when I was knocking out 1.5 blogs a day, these memes were quite common. Where a meme didn’t exist, it was quite common for us to bounce topics off each other, I think sometimes taking an intentionally ridiculously point of view, just to ensure the friendly banter continued.
Thus, on this return of mine to blogging I had a few intentions.
- Write some blog posts
- Make Bear write… not for him, but for me.. make him work
- Make contact with the far reaches of the WoW Blogosphere.
The best way I know to do that, is to annoy the living shit out of some people, refresh the view of wow for others through a little time looking in the rear view mirror, and of course, send some bloggers head’s a’ spinning while they watch the ball get kicked about with cries of “Tag, you it!”.
Can’t be arsed
I said I couldn’t be arsed keeping track of all the posts and posters, but I admit I relented and started making a list, which, yes, I checked once or twice.
I thought I was doing a reasonable job, though there is no question at all that there is nothing pretty about a crappy copy & paste list of blog posts all titled “Sixth”.
Still… Gnome is all for community service and I see no reason why I can’t at least provide a dogeared, incomplete if not completely misleading, pathetic attempt at a list of people who were kind enough to succumb to my invitation to go nuts.
So, I guess I could be arsed… but in the world of being arsed, it is the anally retentive that is King or Queen.
Yes… you do want to keep reading past this point…
Anally Retentive
I have never “met” Martha before, but of course a part of my fiendish plot was to meet those calling the WoW Blogosphere home, especially those that have joined since I left.
So you could have knocked me over when I followed a pingback to find not just 5 pictures… but an I really can be arsed list of all the posts.
Not just a list… but a tree!
In all the memes (Ohh which apparently is produced Me Me.. which I think is very appropriate, because this IS all about Me Me! *) I have seen, or participated in, I have never seen anyone do anything so bloody smart as to draw out a tree… OMG you are incredible Martha!
But then, just when I thought Blogger insanity had reached it peak I get a Tweet (and a spam foldered pingback) letting me know of the most insane WoW Blogger on the face of this earth, and probably Outland as well.
Off her rocker
Navimie from The Daily Frostwolf ripped out the beating heart of the WoW Blogosphere and displayed it in a flowchart.
Makes me look positively normal!
What is more insane than this, the 1st 30 hours of WoW Blogger activity, is that Navimie is thinking about producing another one showing 60 hours of activity.
What’s even more insane than all this insanity is that Navimie is from the Land Downunder, where Taurens puke and Gnomes chunder… yeah same part of the world as me!
I’m sure that has nothing to do with the levels of insanity exhibited by either off us… no it’s not too much sun and surf, I assure you (like when are we going to see that… we are WoW players!)
Mapping out our shared insanity
I know that others have attempted in the past to map out our little piece of the blogging world, but what really strikes this is how organic is is, how we and our connections with each other have been mapped out through the sharing of “one” innocent (or maybe not) screenshot.
Those of you that know me and have joined in, I thank you for humoring an insane old Gnome.
For those of you that don’t know me… well…
My you’re a tall one!
For everyone that has participated to date, thank you…
Those of you who haven’t as yet been tagged (and Lord Gnomeaggedon knows, I could have tagged 60 of you as easily as 6), tag yourself, check Martha’s tree to identify someone not yet tagged and let Martha and Navimie know… if they are really as insane as they have shown so far… they might just continue.
Maybe at the end of it all, we can convince WoW Insider to run a post on the WoW Blogosphere and how all of you, one way or another are no more than six steps away from a fireball throwing, frost nova casting insane Gnome such as myself.
Gnomer and Out!
* I’m feeling dirty right now because I can’t remember whose post it was that told me this was all about Me Me…. someone remind me me please please.

Hehe, I love the wrap up
I ont think its wrapped up just yet, plenty of posts still coming through, but at least the attention can be redirected to the real heroes of this meme
I thought how it spread was kind of fun to watch, plus is showed me quite a few new WoW blogs I hadn’t seen before, perhaps that’s what these things do.
The best part (I mean there has to be some redeeming feature) of a meme is discovering the blog that was right in front of you, that maybe everyone else knew about, or that maybe thought they were alone in the blogosphere.
I had to skip to the bottom to announce….it is pronounced MEEM!!!!!
The battle continues.
Also, glad to have you posting again.
Personally I prefer the pronunciation “DOOM”… But I think that is hard to read into meme.
For the record, when a Gnome says Meme, we say Meem Meem… That way it’s still about us.
I’m glad to see you are still about!
The MeMe post was from Ysharros over at Stylish Corpse.
At least, that’s the first I saw it…
http://stylishcorpse.wordpress.com/2009/02/21/serenely-seeking-sixth-screenshot/
I found where I originally saw it, at Reluctant Raider, where it was an admission of her husbands humor in her use of Me Me.

I just read that to him and he started teasing me again! I’ve been on the internet, in forums and stuff since 1999. You would think I would have known how to pronounce it before now. But apparently, I just don’t!!
LONG LIVE THE ME ME!!
OMG Gnomeageddon displayed my insanity to the world!
I’m still working on that 60 hours but I can tell you now it is OMG-strait-jacket-me-the-F-now if you thought that other thing was just damn insane. Thanks for the linkage! And for making me waste hours of my life. It was so damn fun. Better than archaeology.
And yeah I noticed you were Aussie! Amazing how many Aussie wow bloggers are out there, you’ve been added to my aussie wowblog list
I have a spot for Aussie Bloggers on my ReadByGnome page… I’m sure it is neither definitive nor current… but we exist.
This meme has been such fun!
I haven’t done today’s update yet, but here are the stats from yesterday:
289 tags were made
203 blogs were tagged
14 people posted, but didn’t tag anyone
47 people posted and tagged others
7 people posted and tagged all of their readers
The tree is currently 9 tags deep
…So there are 135 blogs that have yet to post and Good Gravy what was I thinking! O_o;; (I think I’m going to give up around Wednesday and declare it Too Big To Continue™.)
But on the good side, now I have lots of new blogs to read!
That’s quite insane… I ant quite put my finger on what is the most insane part of all this, but something is a slice of ham short of a ham sandwich.
Which reminds me… I was tagged, I must get around to writing a post before you close the doors.
[...] decided to do one of those screenshot meme posts starting with the Sixth and it’s continued growing until it’s exploded. I would think he was a goblin mage if I didn’t know [...]
