Bah Regular Scheduled Maintenance.
Sorry… Irregular Scheduled Maintenance
Well, it’s scheduled, we just didn’t mention it on the logon screen… just in the forums you never visit and the Twitter feed that scrolls faster than you can read.
Oh well… Irregular Scheduled post it is then…
WHY DO PEOPLE NOT ATTEMPT THE OBJECTIVE IN BATTLEGROUNDS?!?!
F$%jING NOOB F$%jING BA$TARD CRAZY PSYCO BEARDLESS GNOMES!!!
Ohh hang on…
That’s me…
A couple of posts back…
A little while back.. a couple of posts back... holy Gnome poo Wolfman, that was back in July?… I said I was going to write a couple of posts explaining why people don’t try to achieve the objectives in Battlegrounds.
I have to admit.. I’m a slack bugger and now I don’t know what the hell I was going to write about… over two posts…
I’m sure it was good… but… ummm… I’ve got no idea what would have covered two posts.
I kind of do… but I can’t believe I would have stretched it out to two posts (he says at the beginning of a post that will probably be so long you will need to read it over morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea… don’t forget to forward the link so you can finish it after work).
The answer is simple… only takes two words…
Is the post really about to be over?
Killing Blows!
There, I said it, even formatted it as a heading… job done.
You see.. it gets to a point, where the only reason to run normal BGs is for killing blows… and yeah the love of BGs, of course, the love of BGs… Naaaaah… killing blows.
There are only so many times you can carry the flag in WSG, to the win, while you pass the people having all the fun in the middle.
There are only so many AV’s, AB’s and WSG’s you can run until you can’t earn any more reputation.
Even when the only reputation to be earned slower each painful patch is Battleground reputation… (Should bloody PvE… they make that easier each patch)
There are only so many Battlemaster achievements you can score, while winning a game, before you just have to give up and fight on the roads…
… knowing that you wont give up, even if the strategy calls for you to be 500 points behind before making a remarkable recovery…
… even when your stinking-healing-squid-tentacle-waving-Alt gets the achievement 1st in a rated battleground…
IN A F$%jING RATED BATTLEGROUND… ON YOUR ALT…
There are only so many BattleMaster achievements you can score…
… before you you say…
F$%j IT!
…if only for a little while…
I am fighting on the roads.
I am fighting in midfield.
I am fighting off the node.
I JUST WANT TO KILL THE F$%jING HORDE!
and you know what… I played the 1st AV in ages that I enjoyed the other day…
I didn’t cap towers…
I didn’t back cap towers…
I couldn’t give a flying F$%j about the graveyards…
Drek’Who?
At some point, in some BG, you will just get to the point where you think…
I am here to kill the Horde!
I AM HERE TO KILL THE HORDE!
HORDE, HORDE, HORDE, HORDE, F$%jING HOOOORRRRRDDDDEEEEE!
There… simple isn’t it…
No I still don’t have that one stupid achievement…
Lucky really… if I did, there would be only one reason to run BGs… one reason to play WoW…
HONOR KILLS!
Gnomer and Out!
No.. you didn’t get off that easily!
(Or I’ll rip your bloody arms off!)
PS: I’m pretty that F$%jING is FISHING and WordPress is scrambling it…
Ohh.. maybe not…

I’ve gotten into the habit of checking the forum… not that I normally play on a Tuesday anyway (shutdown is always before I log on anyway).
I’m not at the same stage as you – I still enjoy the objectives and I’m no where near completing any of the battle ground achievements… I need to learn to stick to one toon… but I must say I’m starting to like the idea of getting killing blows… maybe because I’ve switched to playing feral… and rip is just awesome for getting KBs.
But I had an awesome AV over the last AV weekend – it went for over an hour – we summoned the big tree ent guy – which never happened for me back in vanilla (although I saw the Horde’s Frost elemental a lot). Unfortunately he hasn’t been summoned since then… and he was basically still the same – so it was like going back to MC now… and he was useless.
I had to laugh – there was one guy who persistently said – “let the horde win – we get more honor by losing and going again” to which he consistently got the response “No we’re having fun” – a sentiment I agreed with! If he had left when he first started whining he could have queued again before we’d finished…
But I was having good fun over the AV weekend as well because I didn’t just zerg but stayed back and played defense. So much more fun than running down not fighting any horde… even with me being a bear/cat hybrid spec – but there were more than enough tanks floating about.
I still enjoy the objectives, still prefer a well executed battle, but as a general rule I wont get all tied up when things don’t go as they should.
I even let plate wearers carry the flag… at least once.
I always laugh at the “Why do Horde always turtle?” in AV question.
Maybe it’s because they win more that way… maybe because it is still playing the game and meeting an objective… and maybe it can be more fun if you accept Drek is going to live this time.
Got to hand it to you, you speak words of truth.
Sometimes a batteground is just a place to go fight! Especially since the rapid decline, if any, of world PVP.

Heh.. imagine if you would win PvE encounters by NOT engaging the boss… not sure how that would look…
“Just knocking up a thousand bandages over here”
“Look at my non-combat pet collection”
“Let’s clear some more trash”
Gnome, thanks to you my interest in wow is back , hell bliz even help sending me the 14 free game time , how strange is that.
Now of all times I even started playing EVE-Oline what would be the odds of coming back to WOW .
Well take care mate and see you in Arezoth.
I have to say I’ve increasingly fallen for this, what’s the point in being the only one defending nodes when everyone else is having a whale of a time either on the roads or at Stables in AB.
However, I have found that in CTF BGs I can help achieve victory and rack up kills and it’s all by becoming a defender/supporter of our flag carrier as a Frost Mage. Simply peel people off as we run to the flag room then sit there waiting for the inevitable attack when much hilarity and pwnage ensues. Of course this only really helps if you have a healer alongside you and the flag carrier at least.
