Armaggedon's coming!

Children’s Week and the memories of School of Hard Knocks spurred a little bloodlust recently.

Prelimnar tells me that Blizzard has encouraged him to love Arathi Basin and Alterac Valley through immersion therapy related to the achievement, and I guess it was a similar thing for me.

I have always loved WSG, but as a rule, Alliance have fared badly and end up running around like headless chooks.

I have been around Aussie Rules football long enough to know you “Play the ball, not the man”, but experience has shown that most ignore the “ball” in WSG, much preferring to shirt-front the players even when it means certain death.

However, being ranged and squishy, I have always played at range.  So when a flag drops, I am lucky if I can get to it before it despawns let alone beat a teammate (or the gods forbid and enemy) to pick it up.

As I say, Children’s Week reignited my love of WSG and my desire to get my hands on the flag.

Not the Horde flag, OUR FLAG!

So for the last couple of weeks, you could be pretty sure that I would be in WSG.  If I only got to do one thing, it was one WSG.

As the days have gone on, I have picked up some warriors in arms, Streakers players that either love WSG, or just felt the desire to help me reach my goals.

The fruits of my labor paid off last night.

Finally after 337 (recorded) WSG battles, I was a part of 100 winning teams.

It would appear that I do more BGs than quests.. I have no idea how I am meant to make 30,000 gold out of quests at this late stage in the game… dailies… thousands of dailies?

For all those battles fought, won and lost, I haven’t picked up much in the way of honor, most likely because when we lose, we tend to lose 3/0 so there is little to salvage from the BG… not even the Silverwing Sentinels appreciate our efforts.

When we lost, we were farmed, something that Blizzard has sorted now.  No longer are we farmed on the top level, hoping to sneak past the Horde to our flag room.

No, now we are farmed on mid-level, wondering whether it is worth riding around or heading up the tunnel.

I was in WSG for 50 very simple reasons. I wanted to return our flag to our base 50 times. I’d guess there were 250 opportunities to return the flag, but I was struggling to get the 50.

Not only did I have Horde fighting me for the flag.

I also had anonymous Alliance fighting me for the returns.

Then of course there were my mates, the same mates that were in the BG with me to help ME get MY flag returns.

Of course, their attitude was, if I want them, if I was hungry enough, I would get them… but I was going to have to fight them for them.

I’d particularly like to thank Daror for reminding me there is no honor among Hunters… slimy flag returning mongrel of a guildy…

We have had a ball chasing the flag.

Last night Daror and I formed a solid flag defence. Not many got past us. We even copped a bit from PuGs that managed to join us in multiple BGs… they were stirring us up big time… typing out Daror’s words before he could get them off the keyboard.

Still, they couldn’t argue with that fact that if they left the flag defence to the Streakers boys (+ one more), then the game was nearly one… I think we were 7/0 at one point… until we got that whiny Paladin who assured us that although we had stopped 10+ attempts by the Horde, we were losing the game for him… seriously.. bubble and hearth Pally-boy!

Did I say 10+? … well 6 of those returns were mine… maybe I should have let them go through so he could have won the game for us.

So it was a night for celebrations at the home of the Gnome.
