I know some people are bored with the game (again), but I still find things to love, or suck me in.
I’m a bad raider, a bad PvPer, a bad Mage, well a bad pretty much everything “hardcode”
Not only do I find myself switching between characters on a regular basis (as I was explaining to tjey_misaki last night), but also between activities, and even, quite often actually, I find myself being really bad and doing… well, doing nothing.
But what I realise is that Cataclysm has so much to offer from the daydreamer like myself, to the focused nutter.
It could be whirlwinds in Westfall…
Cleaning the streets of Stormwind...
Wondering why a portal to anywhere, can only take you a couple of places
Maybe, like me, you take great pleasure in the idea of beheading Worgen
Sometimes spending time in the Battlegrounds, gorging yourself of Tauren chops, requires a little after dinner nap
Maybe riding a camel into battle really floats your boat
For me, one of my great pleasures is just soaring over Stormwind (as will become readily apparent)
That and running like hell from a big monster with a big squid for a head (ironic as it is Squidly doing the running)
Or maybe it’s just the quiet night air… and the moon.
How about wondering whether an iceblock can save your from every certain death?
The answer, btw, is no…
Wondering what the designers were smoking.. come on, they must have been smoking something…
Although they could just be on mushrooms…
Or just getting a little bit close to nature…
Really, imagine designing a zone that not only can people fly around in 3d, viewing it from all angles and heights, but also designing it right down to the smallest details so when a Gnome consumes nearly enough mushrooms, they are swaying in the breeze with the little flowers.
Then there is the moon of course…
It’s always there, or so it feels…
Do you ever look up, rather than straight ahead?
Do you get out of the instance long enough to see the clouds in the sky?
If you don’t, then maybe you should interrupt your busy raiding schedule and take some time for yourself to experience the magic that Mages can’t create, the magic that comes with the monthly subscription.
The magic that Blizzard’s designers have given us.
Let me assure you, this magic is significantly more epic that all the purples in Azeroth.
Gnomer and Out!

hear hear. : )
i’ve been spending a lot of time NOT raiding (due to a lot of things), and one thing i continually find amazing is the entire world (of warcraft). the skies are particularly amazing to me, and especially the moon. nagrand, dalaran, menethil, zangarmarsh… on and on.
perhaps i need to take my drake out for a spin….
Mind you, I guess you have to be of the state of mind that you don’t HAVE to raid etc, don’t have to perform optimally (apparently that’s an issue at the moment), that you can just sit back and enjoy the view.
I think of all those people that used to run laps of Dalaran, when they could have been out enjoying the world.
You just explained so well why I love Warcraft. Zing!
Nice.. hopefully you knew this already.. but then, sometimes it’s nice to wake up to the beauty of something that has been right in front of you the whole time
Lovely post Gnome
The moon is one of my favourite things about playing at night time!
Sunrises are special too…
if only they would put the SECOND moon back in the game!
ZOMG. This must be my lucky blog day. Both you and Fannon posted screenshot/explorer posts today. This is the kind of stuff that I love and you are 100% right that simply exploring is 100% more epic than purples.
Ahh but Fannon’s Images of Azeroth – May 2011 are truly beautiful images… mine (like all my photography) are mindless candid shots, of which 80% has to be cropped out and the rest is at best fuzzy.
G’awwww, shucks. [blush]
