Apparently it’s a persistent pet bug that has come in with 4.1
I think of it more as a persistent pest bug.
This Malmortis guy (a WoWhead commenter translated that to be undied, or undead) just plain wont die.
He’s only a bit player, meant to be around for 5 minutes of the game and forgotten, but he wont be forgotten.
Malmortis is located within a coffin in the upper level of Voltarus (Zul’Drak, Northrend) and is an NPC associated with the quest [75] Disclosure. He is your tour guide while you uncover Drakuru’s plans.
But it would appear the Frozen wastes have spread and he is now my tour guide for the whole game.
It has been funny, most of the time. Unfortunately when it comes to those quests where you are meant to collect rather than kill, he can’t help himself and he has to go and smack the target over the back of the head. Luckily I haven’t had much need to complete every quest.
It would appear that Malmortis isn’t the only NPC that is feeling unloved, it’s just he has taken action into his own hands, risen from his coffin to roam the whole world. He has the death grasp on Gnomeadeaden and he wont let go.
It was with this speech really struck me how unloved the Northrend NPCs are.
At one point, there was a queue to throw this chick flowers, now her sad little speech is appropriate.
All kinds of little things going wrong
There are all sorts of things that aren’t quite right since 4.1 hit.
One I noticed was that someone had drained the lake in Stormwind, and other places for that matter.
There there is Arena.
Ohh lord is there Arena.. what a PITA.
Perfect way to suck all the joy out of a game.
You see they fixed resilience in 4.1… which is Blizzard speak for totally screwed it up.
So sometimes resilience doesn’t “work”, it gets ignored.
Some are suggesting it is an occasional bug.
For us, it has occasionally worked.
We aren’t a great team by any stretch of the imagination, still we will around 50-60% of our games.
Not this week. I think we were running at 1 win for 16 losses at one point.
I was getting 2-3 shot, by people that couldn’t beat up target dummies under normal circumstances.
What about the WSG Graveyards?
At least I am not getting falling damage, but a bit of ranged DPS up above the GY can still effectively farm the graveyard.
Still, I have to admit I haven’t been too fussed.
The best I may have achieved in WSG this children’s week may be a draw, but I have had a lot of fun slaughtering flag carriers for the desperate achievement hunters.
Bahhh.. late for work again…

poop
My husband just got the same bug. It’s been amusing both of us for a couple nights now.
Yeah, I found it amusing initially… then frustrating as all hell…
