It all started after reading the 4.1 Mage patch notes.
I realized Fire was getting no love and I can have no love for a game that gives fire no love.
While I caught up on the news on this outstanding source of WoW information, I found reference to something I hadn’t seen before.
I thought I’d give it a go.
At 1st I maintained balance between WoW and my latest addiction.
This was possible as my new lust wasn’t Rift or another electronic game that required complete attention (or so I thought at first).
It is after all a (fundamentally) pen and paper based roleplaying game, if presented via a webpage.
So I had the luxury of alt tabbing from WoW to the website. If I reduced my browser just enough I could see what was going on in the game, so I was multitasking in my multiplayer RPGs of choice.
Then I noticed that while herbing I would, best case, stray from my route, worst case I would fly off into the sea and die from fatigue.
Soon I realized Gnome was missing polymorph requests. While I could hear the start of battle, I wasn’t reading the chat frame or watching for sheep marks. That didn’t matter too much, I could make up for that with a couple of blown cooldowns and spectacular dps.
Worse was to come though, on Squidly I would alt tab as each fight ended, standing over the sparkling loot. Worse mainly because as the party healer I should be in range of the tank.
Most of the time I made it, Earth Shield doing the initial heals, a Riptide and an instant Greater Heal and I was like I was paying attention the whole time.
But, the reality was I was mentally and physically engrossed in the other game.
No longer am I running late for work each day while I run a quick AH scan. No, now I find myself wanting one more turn, one more turn that ends many turns and many minutes later.
I am living vicariously through someone else’s desktop roleplaying, set in a familiar yet twisted world.
I wonder how BigBearButt would go reading this… my guess is that he, and many other old school roleplayers will relate all too well.
I highly recommend that any old school pen and paper roleplayers take some time out from WoW and engross themselves in this alternate universe, one in which Jar Jar, you’re a genius and R2D2 is annoying.
What’s even better is there are a huge amount of the strips… I chew through these things, so I love it when there is a bottomless supply.
I will be sad when I get to the end and I have to wait anything more than a minute for the next one to load.
Only 371 till I get to there, and return to WoW!
Gnomer and Out!
PS: Maybe I should have hung onto this post for a few more days… but I have always thought that “Quitting posts” on April fools was a bit cruel.
PPS: I just read something that has made me sad, especially considering my silly quitting post. Farewell Larísa, my longest companion on this blogging trail, you wont be missed, as I will badger you in the background (if infrequently as I do anything and everything).
A toast to the finest Mage Blogger of all time!

The mages are dropping like flies!
WE WIN! WE WIN!
Just ice blocked waiting for backs to turn!
I found darths and droids the other day too. Hilarious!
Yeah I am hooked and bugger me if they don’t keep linking to similar strips… Browser tabs are already full!
I feel the need to come back to WoW to right the equation. No dirty Shamans or Warlocks should best us mages!
One thing I am sad is though two great bloggers are hanging up there pens, my only hope is that they come back.
Ever want to do a guest post on High Latency Life you are always more than welcome.
Your friend, and fellow mage.

Larisa and ?
Hopefully you are thinking of me… I’m only 285 webcomics away from full attention!
I just spent far too long this morning reading Darths and Droids. I fell into your cunning trap!
So many cunning traps in this strip not sure what has me more.
The adventure story line
The player story line
The comparison to roleplyaing games
or just the whole lot combined… but I can never stop at just one strip!
Mages are weak! Warlocks win again!
Actually, I like putting Dark Intent on Fire Mages. So there.
We got our lock rocks from our Warlock in the raid last night, then I tried to kick him for a useful class…
Unfortunately he was the raid leader.
