Armaggedon's coming!

Do you ever revisit previous content?

Not in the sense of best of 2010, best of Expansion X, not even visiting the content you may have missed.

No I mean, do you ever go back to the zone (or part of the zone) you just completed?

Until WoLK there was absolutely no value in returning to areas you had comprehensively completed.

WoLK and it’s limited phasing introduced this to some extent, flight masters and vendors would appear where previously there were none.

Wrathgate ensured we could forever hear the screams of the burning fallen and their tormented souls.

Apart from that, I don’t ever remember a reason to return to a zone, to observe MY heroic impact on that zone.

Let’s face it, unless you had a damn good reason (like you are a gatherer) why would you.

You completed the quests, got the achievement, you are done, there are better loots in the next zone, more story lines to ignore, raids to be prepared for.

Gnomes don’t blink backwards.

Ok, sure, 6 years down the track we can still blink and stay in the same place, which given the right conditions feels like I have gone backwards, but I digress (as usual).

As much as I have been at pains to read the quest text, follow the stories and develop that hero that we all know Gnomeaggedon is.

There have been weird moments, like doing The Throne of the Tides and not understanding the significance of the squid head, only to complete the zone and do a big…

Ahhh now I get it!

But, for all my care, Gnomeaggedon always moved forward, never looking back and what he had wrought.

Possibly it is too late now as the constant burning desire for fire has burnt many of my brain cells out and most zones are long behind me.

Squidly’s affinity for the ancestors.

Squidly is different.

It’s not really his affinity for his ancestors, his desire to return to the past to draw on it’s power. Neither is it his alien curiosity exploring his new found world.

No, Squidly is a gatherer in a desperate search for herbs, herbs he can’t find anywhere.

When Squidly enters a new zone, he does a quick sweep of the whole zone, then heads off to start the quest chain that will save the world.

Every now and then, Squidly stops questing and does a circuit of the zone… and that’s when I noticed… the world had changed, forever.

It was Mount Hyjal, burnt, devastated, showing all the signs that a Gnome Fire Mage has saved this part of the world in the only way he knows how…

BURN IT!

BURN IT ALL!

Of course this wasn’t the work of the worlds most loved Gnome Fire Mage, no this was the work of Deathwing and his minions.

Squidly the Restoration Shaman

OK, well he was spec’d Elemental at the time, but you know, he’s happy to heal.

As Squidly worked through Hyjal he started to restore the balance.

What was devastated and burnt became lush and green.

Nasty mobs disappeared, different herbs grew amongst the new growth and birds and animals returned to the land.

While there really isn’t much there for Gnomeaggedon, Squidly can appreciate the change, enjoy the new vistas and the restored world.

If only he could find some fricken herbs!

 

Mirror images on Twisted Nether

This screenshot is just for Fimlys, Hydra and Gazimoff (OK and everyone else in the chat room discussing cooking Gnomes… cheeky buggers), just to show, that the mirror images of Gnomeaggedon in the chat room wasn’t by chance.

Gaz was on TwisterNether Blogcast on Sunday afternoon… well my Sunday afternoon, Fim & Hydra’s Saturday night and Gaz’s… well, I don’t quite know what you call 4am… but it’s interesting to know his wife was by his side the whole time (yeah OK, she was playing WoW by his side… but she also felt the pain right?)

Moving right along with 2011, we welcome Gazimoff from the Mana Obscura Blog and the Obscurecast Podcast! He handles the early morning hours stupendously (he’s in the UK) and keeps us well entertained. We discuss the fine art of Gnome cooking, setting things on FIRE and, of course, the best Horde race to kill. News this week was sparse but we manage to still find “something” to talk about including the PTR build and changes to Guild Cauldron requirements. Tune in, Turn on and Hang out with us as we bring you an Episode 114 unlike all other Episodes of TNB numbered 114.

The podcast is great… OK, I haven’t listened to it on the Podcast, because I was there… which you should have been too.

Not only was the bit with Gaz in it great, but the bits after the show… well, I said at the time it is a shame Fim doesn’t record them, because I think they were some of the best pieces of TNB I have ever heard… Me, not you… you weren’t there!

Fim assured me they were just for ME, ME, ME!

Of course, this will also explain why Streakers had to put up with a Mage with only 1/2 a brain on the job… sorry guys… I am so used to hearing orders barked down through Vent, that it was constantly grabbing my attention.
