Putting the Aggro in Mage since 2004
Our Lich King attempts continue, some better, some worse.
I think the mistake we made last night was that we didn’t sacrifice a Gnome to the gods early in each attempt, as I think we did better the previous night.
I have to say, I have missed the “wipe without grief” that you get in a guild run. Rather than grief, it’s…
Good attempt folks, watch this, watch that, that other thing went really well, now let’s pull it all together and take him down
It’s kind of an alt run.. I think there are a few mains, but it’s primarily alts and one guild associate (which is me, and it’s a term I just made up.. but I get along great with these guys in BGs and arenas and they needed a sacrificial Gnome… so here I am).
I’m really happy that we haven’t one-shot him, it actually feels like I’m earning (hopefully) my place, and not just in for the honor with a bunch of veterans.
They are a good humored bunch of folk too.
I think the intention tonight is for 9 of us to do 10 suicide leaps from Dalaran so we can get our gear to 0% durability and see whether the main tank notices (yeah he gets a bit focused, or hopeful, and forgets to repair his gear… not a problem, just a source of ribbing).
Maybe we should just get nekkid
This is my 1st PvE encounter since 4.01 hit… I just haven’t been bothered, nor had time, to respec, retalent, reglyph or set up my keybinds. The little I have played has been in the BGs and even that has been stumped by the mystery Optus (my internet provider) vent lag that starts at about 8pm each night… just as I log in… so I haven’t logged in.
When I got the invite to LK the other night, I realized that, in one incredibly bored moment, I had set up a PvE spec and set up my talents… what I hadn’t done was go through the laborious process of setting up my key binds again.
So the trash in Plague Quarter leading to the bosses (the only thing remaining before LK at that point), was my opportunity to:
- Quickly watch some LK kill videos
- Set up key bindings.
It was kind of funny, I’m alt-tabbed out, when I hear things going south in a trash pull.. so I alt tab back and discover that one of the few keybindings available was what I needed. The rest were quickly set up and bosses downed.
I was kinda happy with my performance, but I realized I hadn’t reforged anything, so I did that last night before our 2nd night of LK attempts.
Holy Gnome Poo batman!
btw, all Gnome poo is holy… kk?
I like to think I can top a meter occasionally.. especially in a group of level 40′s, but between insane dots, Combustion and Impact I was making a real mess.
Which of course isn’t necessarily a good thing, like during the 1st phase of LK, where it is really about single target.
On one of our attempts, things went south really quickly, 2 dps down before things really got going.
The other Mage and I…
The OT was apologizing that he missed a button or two…
At which point I suggested it wasn’t all his fault.. I was doing 18k DPS at that moment in time.
There was some stuff in raid chat from the other Mage about pulling Aggro.. which of course lead to discussion about monitoring aggro, at which point I wrote…
We put the Ag into Mage!
Aaaaagggggrrrrroooo I’m talking about.
That’s when they suggested I should post about it…
Whoops… it was also suggested I shouldn’t mention the tank without a functional weapon.
Ohh well, I guess if I am going to ‘fess up to over-aggroing, I should at least take him down with me…
right?
RIGHT?
Seriously though, the folk at Streakèrs are a great bunch of guys and gals… loving the time they give me and accepting my desire to protect my guild tag.
Putting the death into BGs
Something else I have been enjoying today is Strand of the Ancients.
Prelimar asked on the Mana Obscura Mage Forums how SotA was with mobile scorch.
OHHHH LORDY, IT’S HEAVEN!
Those Demos are moving a bit faster tho…
but they can be crowd controlled & slowed…
and likewise they can be cleansed of everything except hamstring.
I’ve also been topping the scoreboard in SotA… Mobile Scorch FTW!
Fun times for a Gnome.
Speaking of fun times… a couple of the Movember Moscars entries…
