How much is WoW gold worth these days?
I think you’d be lucky to get 5,000 gold for $25.
Come Cataclysm that’s what I’m expecting to pay on my one-off purchase.
Of course I will be buying directly from Blizzard, not from any of the account hacking gold sellers.
Likewise I won’t truly see 5,000 appear in my WoW bank, but I will be saving it.
As they say, a copper saved is a copper earned.
Now Gnomeaggedon won’t be out of pocket either way, Squidly on the other hand will have to make a request to the exchequer of the Gnomeregan exchange for 5,000 and I already know the outcome of that request…
DENIED!
So I have no doubt that Squidly will make an exchange on the grey money market (or is that green?) to ensure that he can ride in luxury without disturbing Gnomeaggedon’s nest egg.
310 flying speed will cost 5000 gold or an existing 310 speed mount.
Gnomeaggedon completed the long strange trip, but Squidly has not. As I haven’t been playing the AH with any enthusiasm since Burning Crusade the bank balance is healthy, but not overflowing.
With the Aussie dollar at silly highs at the moment the real world purchase of a flying mount is a really viable, verging on sensible option.
So I will say up front, thank you blizzard for opening goldselling directly from the Blizzard store!
Even if it means I end up with THAT pony!
Value for Money
Speaking of value for money, Gazimoff has done it again!
Of course if you are on the Mana Obscura Mage Forums, you would know this already!
Seriously, why would you be reading this mis-information when you can be reading Mana Obscura?
I see Roxton at Great Balls of Fire has also been getting it on with a pile of guides on racials and Mage specs for Cataclysm
See.. that cost you neither 5000 gold nor $25.. value at it’s finest!
Seriously… time to unsubscribe here… and subscribe somewhere more Mageworthy!

Mageworthy? Perhaps… But Gnomeworthy?
…and what about MageGnomeWorthy?
wait, wait, let me get this straight…that pony is 310 speed? so for one low (laugh) fee of $25 dollars, all my alts can have a 310 flying speed???
Now I am second guessing myself… Is it a 310 speed mount, or one that scales… Not sure, memory bad or bad Gnome?
It scales. Unless you have a 310% mount, it won’t be 310%
In beta, your mount scales to whatever riding skill you have.
A slow, cheap mount will run at 100% speed when you have a high enough riding skill.
A slower flying mount will rise from 150% speed to 280% or even 310% once you have a high enough riding skill.
If you already have a 310% speed flying mount, you gain the new riding skill for free. Everyone else has to pay 5000 gold.
Ahh I was trying to figure out what you could buy for 25$ for 310%. No the pony wont do it for you:(
4×310% on main. Long strange trip on a alt, 2 boss kills from Uldaar on another alt, sindra hard and achievement on another alt for icc10 mount. Both of those probably wont happen its just where i finished up after helping others.
But despite gold being stupidly easy to accumulate I probably wont bother except for my double gatherer dk that I plan to level second.
If you’re exalted with Valiance Expedition, you can pick up Master Riding (310% flight speed) for “only” $4k in patch 4.0.1.
