I’m not a big sports fan, but I understand there is something around called the Fantasy Football League and if my primitive understanding is correct, the concept is that supporters pick what they believe would be the ultimate team of the season.
What would that team look like if it was composed of Warcraft Bloggers and the Superbowl was The Lich King?
I’m not sure I would make the team, but I’d happily join in as a rookie. I’m sure Larisa would be prominent in the EU competition.
I think if I was to build a US/Oceanic team I would start, and quite possibly end, with Jong.
A one man team?
You know as well as I do, that when the chips are down the shirt comes off and not even Arthas could stand before that waxed chest (yes, I still visualize him as a Belf, even after all this time).
He wouldn’t be quite alone of course, I would be his water-Gnome, there to provide mineral replenishing Mage water and high energy food.
I’d be there to wipe the sweat from his brow with the hem of my Blood Mage robe.
Ohhh hang on a tick, does Jong sweat? Is the thought of Jong working up a sweat while saving the world somehow anti-Jong? Is he like the hero(ines) in the movies who save the world yet come out with perfect makeup (man-product) and hair perfect but for one lose strand?
Name your league
So tell me, who is in your perfect W-League team?
Considerations…
- 10 man or 25 man…
- EU or US/Oceanic…
- Horde or Alliance…
Now these three considerations don’t really matter, but I have one further thought…
What if your team could be a reality?
What if your team were prepared to blow the $25 (x2 ultimately) transfer fee to join together to save the WoW multiverse for one night only?
- Who is the team captain?
- The healers?
- The tanks?
- The dps?
- The interchange bench?
If you are nominated for the W-League, would you transfer for one weekend only, say to Cenarion Circle to join Single Abstract Noun for one weekend of raiding, Battlegrounds and merrymaking?
Let’s face it, these are relatively quiet times, the lull before the Cataclysm. It has never been easier to port (with a little help from the $$$) to another part of the WoW multiverse and back. Will your guild really miss you for one weekend?
Bloggers have often spoken of the idea of forming up on “one” server, and we have come close with SAN… But we all need to return to our RL guilds after a bit of Alt-roleplay.
This is the chance for us all to join up for one night under the big lights!
Give us your votes!
Gnomer and Out!
PS: Please retweet… Let’s get the question out there!

PvP Fantasy Battlegrounds.
Nothing against raids, but BGs fit the fantasy sports thing slightly better.
Now to write a stat tracking addon for important PvP stats.
That would be fun… though I dare say most people have a set of raid gear and know most of the fights, the same may not be the other way
Hehe… making me a captain? Are you serious? I smell a trap.
I can agree that it sounds like a fun one-time-only-event to team up with some EU bloggers to test ourselves as a 25 man raiding team. How quickly could we make it work? Does the fact that the blogging bring us together have any impact on our performance as a team in game? I’m honestly not so sure it does. Your ability to write good blog posts says nothing about your quality as a raider.
An issue for me is the available time. However fun an entire weekend of WoW playing sounds, I doubt that my family would share the enthusiasm.
lol are you volunteering for captain? Are you serious? I smell a trap!
No I am just nominating you as one of the all-star blogger raid members.
Arguably it could be brought together in a couple of weeks… people willing and schedules allowing.
Being bloggers would probably have an adverse effect… let’s face it, we all know better than the next blogger… well I certainly do.
Damn you caught me out… though I would suggest that I am as good a blogger as I am raider… which is patchy at best, but I have a great time doing it.
But yes time would be the issue, and may make it impractical. It’s possible that people could wrangle a leave pass for a Friday and Saturday night and make it happen.
I could be the orange-boy here in Oz for the the US raiders.. as I will be eating lunch while they destroy bosses.
Ultimately, I don’t mind if it happens… though I am interested to know who people think should be in the team.
As you say, does our ability to write about WoW entitle use to a spot in the raid. Is it all about technical skill and execution, or would the raid need a couple of clowns along to help make the event worthwhile as a social experience?
Afterall, I am probably the last blogger standing that still advertises in trade chat:
I love that ad! How does it work out?
Well, Squidly is doing better than Gnomer… nuff said
Or how about everyone makes a level 29 Twink and gears it up for some sick pre-made action.
