my server is the same -- it's pretty rare that the horde take wintergrasp. it's getting the point that i almost feel sorry for them. then one or two or three slaughter the hell out of squishy ol' me, and those empathic feelings go away. i killed this one hunter's gorilla twice over the weekend in a single battle, and i'm sure that hunter is now out for vengeance. >: )

but back to you and your epic rallying of the troops: HUZZAH! and congratulations! you are an inspiration. /CHEER

Well you see I'm a PvPer that likes to raid (I used to be a raider that liked to PvP). I got behind on the gear grind and couldn't get a raid.

If I don't queue in my PvP gear, I can't even get a ICC 5 man from LFD. (gawd help me if I equip a fishing rod, then I'm lucky to get UK).

The best non-raid/non-Arena weapon & offhand available is from the 5 mans. Though this is due to change in Catalysm where at least we will be able to get last season's through BGs. Otherwise you need 1800 personal and team rating (as well as the arena points in the bank) to get your hands on a (the lesser of) weapon. No mean feat.

I don't mind PvEers in VoA, it's all good. I do mind them hiding from the PvP.

I also think it's great that there is a mix of T10/S8 or T9/S7 gear as loot. Either of the T10/S8 items would make me happy and support my fun times.

Though I wish we weren't leaving 3 items rotting on bosses because the class/spec isn't represented, or they didn't need it.

As for PvP gearing, I completely geared Squidly this weekend (with the exception of Arena point/rank gear & weapons of course). 1st 2 pieces with triumph emblems, the rest in BGs.

Shame I can't do the same in PvE

but why do pvpers even need pve gear exactly? outside of weapons (and even then) its really pretty meh for pvp.

I actually started rolling on pvp gear with characters I don't really pvp on out of sheer self preservation (I only used to pvp on a hunter and now gearing up warlock to eat little mages for breakfast, mwahaha :) - god she's fun in pvp /cackle...aaanyways) zone into the relic/summoning stone in pure pve gear? splat. zone in wearing pvp gear? you might, just might have a bit of a chance. yes resilience and added 10k or so of stam really make that much of a difference, as I'm sure you know as well.

I still maintain that pvp and pve really should remain separate to keep everyone happier. those who enjoy both? they can do both, no problem. but those who only enjoy one aspect of the game shouldn't be forced into the aspect that is not fun for them. you can avoid some of the blizzard created achievements but its damn hard to avoid some of the more persistent players.

oooh, I know what solution could be! remove the VoA as it is now. instead of loot pinata pve bosses - make baggies of random treasure available from completing "victory in wintergrasp" quest. it might contain extra honor, or maybe stone keeper shards, or arena points, or it might contain a nice piece of pvp lewts! ala weekly quests you get inside ICC. As for extra chance at tier for us pveers, well then..we could just keep VoA and instead of winning it via pvp, we could unlock it via ICC (or other raids) boss kills. for instance - kill 10 man saurfang? unlock 10 man Toravon for the week. Kill XT in Ulduar? get access to Emalon. Ignis would unlock Koralon and if someone actually wants to do Archavon - they could go and kill Sarth and KT in Naxx.

how's that for a solution? should give raid groups more flexibility and separates pvp from pve.
