Well, one day for us here Downunder.
I’ve been having a bit of a Twitter discussion with shieldbreakr from Horde of One.
His view on School of Hard Knocks is quite clear… it’s a noob farming opportunity.
If you were to read our Twitter conversations you would think we are on opposite sides of the fence, but in many ways we are on the same side… well, he’s Horde and I’m Alliance, but we agree… PvP is for PvP, not wishy-washy PvE.
But I see there being two ways to play this week and I am going to share my anger about a 3rd way.
- This is War – Kill or be killed! If you want the achievement, god damn fight for it!
- Let’s get the Achievement out of the way so we can melt faces. 1 minute of truce will mean 100% focus for the rest of the fight.
- Selfish Pricks!
This is War – Kill or be killed!
This is shieldbreakr‘s philosophy, which is a good, honorable philosophy.
It is the essence of the Battlegrounds and should be the basis of all Horde vs Alliance relations.
I had 3 WSG’s last night helping a mate get her Orphan a flag, two of them I will come to, but the 2nd one was along these lines.
I went in with the attitude of give the achievement hunters their flags and let’s get down to battle. So I charged to he Horde flag room and sure enough, there were Horde with their Orphans out.
I picked up the flag… dropped the flag… they waited for it to despawn
I picked up the flag… dropped the flag… they waited for it to despawn
I picked up the flag… dropped the flag… they waited for it to despawn
OK, I get the message… BG’s are about honorable combat, thus Orphans satisfied through any other means that an honorable kill will not have their bloodlust satisfied.
Let there be war!
No quarter shall be given… and none was
/salute Horde.
Let’s get the Achievement out of the way
As I say, my attitude was to help out those who want the achievement done.
Don’t get me wrong, my motives aren’t all that altruistic… I want to play the BGs, thus I want the distractions out of the way.
So I will come to your flag room, emote to indicate I come in peace (/wave /sit etc) then give you as many caps as you need.
However I expect the same in return!
When 7 of you are waiting hopefully with little Orphans looking up with their doe eyes for me to help you, remember there are 7 Alliance kids hoping for the same at the other end of the map.
When our Orphans get their flag to wave, we can get down to business.
Selfish Pricks!
What I don’t like was demonstrated in 2/3 of the WSGs last night.
After a couple of quick deaths before the Horde realized I came in peace, waving the flag of truth, I was cheered on by the waiting Orphans and their carers while I did the pick up & drop routine.
Now some of the Horde in the flag room had to be told to stop hitting me..
I was even indicating via /rude and /polymorph that some of them should just shove it (I think I got a cheer when I polymorphed that DK into a pig.. I think the Hordeside achievement hunters both wanted to do it themselves and thought it an appropriate choice of farm animal).
BUT…
Meanwhile at the other end… no such sharing.
I helped out about 14 Hordies last night in 2 BGs…
They helped no one.
I literally had a ring of adoring Orphans and carers around me, cheering me on.
Yet, they couldn’t return the favor?
Ohh and yes, of course we are going to kill the nice ones after 5 others have screwed with our achievement hunters.
It’s a delicate thing negotiating truce with no common language. That was why I was happy to take a couple of deaths to get my message of non-violence across.
So what happened…
the call went out
Stop giving them the flag, they are being selfish pricks
So I feigned care for 2 more pick ups/drops, then…
I Blastwaved those adoring Orphans sitting Kumbaya around me, frost nova’d them into place, then ran downfield for the cap.
It was a noob fest.
I killed 4 of them that came to recover the flag (yeah… me?)
It took 9 alliance to recover our flag…
But you can shove that flag cap up your selfish….
I don’t care which way, just pick a way!
Honestly, I don’t care which way you want to handle the next couple of days.
- All out war from the start – PERFECT!
- One minute truce – PERFECT!
But, just don’t be pricks!
- If you want the charity, then call a truce and help the other side.
- If you don’t want the charity, make it clear from the outset.
I did it my my way
Don’t get me wrong, I got my achievement the hard way, but then I like my PvP in my PvP.
There are those that don’t… give them a break.
Ohh and I am very proud of Bloodlust Alliance… Not one /bgquit after getting the achievement drop and all fought hard to win!
/salute Alliance
Warning!
Off topic… BigBearButt is handing out free Trojans with every blog visit right now… maybe give him a day’s grace to sort it out.
I’m sure he didn’t intend people to get a free Trojan with a view of his take on School of Hard Knocks… but it’s there… so be warned.
Meanwhile I am working on my response to his post.
Gnomer and Out!
The Bear Coast is clear
Looks like Cassie saved the day! and The Big Bear Butt is back with the entertainment, including an explanation of what they went through in solving the Trojan issue. Looks like we came close to a Big Bear Rug, rather than a Big Bear Butt
PS: I was sad to hear today that Endario has defected to Hordeside Bloodlust… apparently the PvP grass is greener over there… I think it’s because of all the Taurenshit!
See you in the graveyard!

My favorite was an AB with a pally on a sparkly pony riding around without armor or weapons and repeatedly telling people he was just there for the achievements.
Obviously Blizzard designed it this way so this would happen. It is not a good thing.
Bliz didn’t design it that way. It’s just how people have coped and tried to make the achievement as easy to get as possible.
I’m a terrible person ..you say free Trojans and I’m thinking WOW…free condoms for EVERYONE??? That guy is crazy. Hubby cleared things up for me though:)
I’m surprised you weren’t just ganked every time you entered the Horde flag room, there are a LOT of jerks that PvP horde side of Bloodlust, half the reason I don’t really PvP.
It’s everywhere and amongst all factions, man.
Hey, don’t judge! I have fabulous hair now!
I’ve treated Children’s Week BGs largely as I have any other: just playing them as usual and pretending people aren’t dragging children (who’s parents I’ve probably killed) into a warzone. I did avoid BGs completely though for the first few days of the holiday, so I really missed the worst of it.
I did have a couple asshole moments though.
My favourite was when some poor Ally Shaman with 16k health accidentally brought the EotS flag to the base I was defending. I turned him into a turtle then slowly casted an unhasted Pyroblast. Poor thing.
Another fun EotS moment was when there were nearly a dozen Allies fighting at the flag while we had them 3 capped. A few of us went down to mid to wreck some havoc. Instead of my usual “find the healer and burn it”, I started tab-Living Bomb’ing. One of the warriors with me said “I just saw 10 Living Bombs explode. I think I just came.”
All in all, not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Granted, a good chunk of my euphoria probably came from not having a hair-lip.
See you at the graveyard, Gnomer. It will probably be at the Yellow gate because that female Night Elf hunter just capped southern graveyard.

School of hard…..pricks? All I can say is wow.
ANYHOO, on topic, I had an interesting WSG the other day where the typical truce went on.
The part where it got interesting was when the Horde seemingly decided to give us the game, leading to a 3-0 win for the Alliance. I think that has to be the first time I’ve EVER seen a side actually surrender, despite all the naysayers and moaners you tend to get.
Definitely made my DK happy though, especially since I left everything to the last day -.-
I’m a Hordie.
I tried to help.
I kept getting smited when I tried to do the flag drop exchange in WSG.
I kept getting smited when I tried to multiple back-cap towers in AV.
I kept getting smited when I tried to let people take farm and then defend it so they could assault it again.
I tried to help.
But your silly Alliance wouldn’t allow me.
