So what time is it?
Ohh yesterday… For you…
Today for me, although for you that would be tomorrow…
You have to hate that, don’t you?
Need the lotto results?
Drop me a line!
Unless of course you are one of my sheep loving cousins (and yes I know I have some in NZ… Apparently our 3 grandfathers split when they got to Oz… One went to NZ), because then you know who one the race before me.
Just think.. the day the world ends, I will have lived nearly a day longer than you guys… that’s gotta suck.
When I was in New Orleans for New Years a few years back, I got to celebrate twice… one when the fire works went off over Sydney Harbour Bridge and again when those girls took off their tops and ummm… yeah… America is a wonderful country…
Of course let’s face it everyone loves their sheep loving cousins from NZ before they admit to their two headed cousins from Tasmania…
Ok, I admit it, I love all you Australians, including the Kiwis. I’ve traveled overseas, I know you come from that “little Australian island”. Let’s face it, I’m not a Banana Bender or a Sandgroper, but I have definitely been called a Mexican… Something about being south of the border.
Time is a funny thing… it can mess with your… ummm.. mind.
I remember a while back I went to visit Larisa in the EU (no, not physically silly! Us Mages can just zap ourselves across the world in an instant.)
I was all primed.. character rolled, waiting in Ironforge…
I looked about the deserted old town and wondered where she could be…
So I used a different form of Magely communications, only to discover she was AT WORK! AND… wouldn’t be home for hours and hours.. I vowed to find a wormhole to catch up with her.
When Megan Met Gnomey
When Megan dropped by to congratulate me on my newly reignited passion for battlegrounds, her WoW Clock (Clock! I said Clock!) was thrown into disarray.
She was so messed up that it took her a while to realize she wasn’t in Kansas any more, that I wasn’t Toto and I really came from the land of Oz (Back then I wasn’t Gnomeaggedon of Gnomeregan, I was the Wizard of Oz).
I think she felt a little ditzy dizzy, felt like she might drop off the bottom of the earth. Time was screwing with her brain (WoW Clock I said!).
The Fool even finds it hard!
When a certain Troll and I were conspiring over April fools, the only issue we had was when to release the posts.
Well, it can’t be that hard can it… umm it just has to before 12 midday
But midday where?
Here in Wierdsville Australia that was before you guys even made it to April… but if I waited for you guys to wake up in Wierdsville USA, it was like 4pm here…
I got a little grumpy because you know… Australian has about 20 million people and WoW only has about 11 million people and like everyone in Australia plays WoW don’t they? So, umm why was I timing my April Fools joke for the 1/2 dozen unfortunates that lived outside of the country… right?
You can see my point right?
I’m sure you just have an overseas postal address so that you can evade good old fashions Australian taxes.
Twisting in the Nether
The Twisted Nether Blogcast does their Friday night recordings smack bang in the middle of beer ‘o clock Saturday here in Australia. Now that’s kind of unfair… when I was on the blogcast, I had to keep and Esky by my side the whole time (and an old bottle on the other side), because it was beer ‘o clock!
They were all tired and needing to go to bed. Fim was rubbing his Gnomish forehead in weariness, while I chugged down another one, wondering how I was going to get to the pub to get another slab.
I hate Tuesdays
I hate Mondays too, but Tuesdays are maintenance NIGHT!
Yeah.. work that out…
You go to work all cheery knowing that while you are at work, the Australian Gnomes are slaving through THEIR PRIME RAIDING TIME to get the servers ready for you when you get home… Poor Gnomes…
Then I get up to got to work and you come home and play games… and expansions and patches and… then I come home 10 hours later after they fixed the lag and the bugs and the login issues and I can leach the patch of you and.. ohhh that isn’t that bad once every 6 months is it?
Raiding must suck in the USA.
What have you got.. 3 time zones?
That sucks doesn’t it.. millions of faux Americans dialing in from Australia and complaining about how some had to rush home early from work and others are nearly ready for work.
I know it’s a lie.. because I play with you here too…
It’s just some of you are honest enough to admit you are from New Zealand, or Adelaide, or Perth, or Singapore, or even Queensland (no they don’t do daylight savings there, cause their cows get seriously confused and all the bananas go straight, which means they need more backpackers to bend then back into shape for export… as for the locals.. well the sun sends them crazy, they don’t need to be confused by changing the time on their watches).
L.A. my butt… Bondi maybe.. L.A. I don’t think so… what movie were you in ha ha?
In other weird times news
I noticed something while I was BGraging the other day…
Yeah.. weird right.. it was like there was a Warlock in my blog, playing with my numbers
and there might have been you know because of this Algebra fail…
Algebra Fail
Someone was obviously trying to cheat on their University assignment, and was Googling the answer to a very important question. So everyone grab a piece of chalk and we will work through this together…
+ wow: A good start, nothing too complicated yet, until we add the next piece of the puzzle.
+gnome: Now we are well on the way to discovering the meaning of life. There is really only one more component to this.
+ warlock: OH GOD! Fool! WARLOCK?
Here is how I would have marked this noobs paper…
+ wow +gnome + mage = Gnomeaggedon!
Yeah, it’s like the meaning of life, but just better!
PS: I think I am channeling Megan’s artistic talent… and since she isn’t around, there is no one to say otherwise… ok?
L2DRAWNoob!!
Stepping into the future
I’ve been a slack Gnome (contrary to what my minders keep tell me). Sure I have been busy, but I have been neglecting a task set by myself a long time ago. I haven’t brought a new Mage blog to your attention in yonks… yes longer than yesterday.
At a time when many of us Mage bloggers are slowing down, stuttering or even PvPing to frustration, GamerGaz is pumping out the posts at The Mana Obscura. When I see someone that is filling my feedreader with quality posts yet isn’t even getting me sullying his comments section… well it’s time to point you in his direction (I’ll let you do my dirty work because I’m busy, ok…)
I realized yesterday that he has been joining in Twitter conversations with me, pumping my posts and… and I wasn’t even following him… no wonder he was so quiet unless “speaking to me”.
Speaking of Shaman, how about a Mental Shaman?
No, not nutso, although as you can see the juxtoposition of the word BASICS and that chalk board lead me to believe there is a bit of nutso happening…
I would write more about the mental shaman, but my today is becoming tomorrow while you are still stuck in yesterday. (PS: Cynwise will win a BG while the team loses… and will have Pizza for diner yesterday)
On a similar note, if you are (or know of) a new/unknown Mage blogger, even a Shaman blogger (and I do know there have been some new ones, I hear it on TNB, but I just don’t get the chance to look you up), chuck a comment on one of my posts, or link back to one of my posts (pick a post – then you will get a ping back. Linking to my blog is good, but I might miss it and you wont be leaving blog droppings). Maybe, just maybe I can fill people’s feedreaders again without lifting a finger.

So you know up here in banana bender land, they are talking about bringing in daylight savings… but only for the southern half of the state. Wtf people?! Might as well annex us to NSW and be done with it!
I would be perfectly happy to have daylight savings to be honest, it would be nice to be able to have light for longer in the evenings. But the real drawcard is that i would then be on server time all year so I wouldn’t have to rush home from work on raid nights
Ohhhh Queensland… Beautiful one day, nuttier than a macadamia the next…
So wait….you’re a day ahead…so if the world ends, you didn’t get an extra day…you died a day before me. Right?
lol… Neither of us get one more day… But I might get one toasted bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast
Just as long as it doesn’t happen during downtime…
keep eating bacon and egg sandwiches and your days may be limited anyway my friend. Try gnome, less fatty than dwarf and equally tasty.
Ahh but beef.. beef… More about beef tomorrow.
I dare say tomorrows post will have you calling 000 (Australia’s 911)!
Ah…beef….it’s what’s for dinner…btw 9 total time zones, 4 continental US time zones, plus hawaii and alaska time (and others such as guam and samoa)!
Playing on a US server now confuzzles me sometimes. We will be doing a raid, and someone will say ” man this is my last attempt – its 4am here” and we’re like but we are wide awake! and trying to organise a reform on another day – uhuh.. what does that translate to me time? I did set my world clock to show server time on my iphone too
easier to work out
April fools? That was no april fools! I hope an Australian can see the fascists are taking over…
Three time zones aren’t too bad, as long as you’re not in east coast and a late-night west coast guild. I’m right in the middle, so nothing either way is too strange. It works out well for me, the rest of the raid is up an hour later, so I know they’ll get tired and quit first. I hate going first.
@Pugnacious Priest: I played with a friend from UAE (mid east) for a while. We’d be right in our vibe at 10:00pm and she’s saying how it’s 6:00am. I’m not sure when she slept, since I’d sometimes be chatting with her during the day.
My officer note currently says ‘may contain nuts’, so you might not be far off.
One of our oldest members (we’re in the EU) is raiding from the US, and he gets up at 6am (or something like that) to raid with us. We ought to send him a big box of coffee in thanks I think.
I guess we’re luckier in the EU, with everyone going to sleep or to work at roughly the same time. Of course, it means that the servers are dead at certain times of the day! Yay for 4am mining runs!
Still can’t see the point of daylight saving time though…
Yeah that persons math was all wrong. If you’re going to spend the time to create a character, and if you’re fortunate enough to create a ‘lock, do yourself a favor and roll Orc.
FOR THE HORDE!
What Gazi said, the biggest time difference in the EU (that I have seen at least) is 2 hours, the usual is just 1 hour though.
So, while you’re going to bed… I’m thinking what to have to lunch… this always confuses my brain D:
Ha, no, I get it, kidding. But it’s weird to think that you guys are a day ahead of a country you’re next to! The world is funny.
