Noticed how many of these posts have popped up lately?
This was one of my best mate’s epic’d characters… I stress the one of.. he had many.. he is one of my close circle of friends…
I hope some punk comes and burns down your friggin house you scumbag gold buyers!
I don’t give a shit about the gold sellers.. they are earning a living… you are scumbags are buying a living.
Gnomer and get the fuck out!
PS: Thanks to another old mate, Snuff, for proofreading! (cause I am a little to angry to worry about the details… like who I am going to stick the screwdriver into)

I agree – the buyers are no less responsible than the sellers. This is blood money, no two ways about it.
blood…. mmm normally it would be Horde blood.. but just for once I will put that aside.. I don’t give a rats what faction…
Meet me at Dal at 3pm tomorrow!
Woah Woah Woah there bud, lets not get all crazy with killing the horde….
No Horde are fine… Alliance are fine… but the ones with the disposable income… I’ll meet them behind the Dalaran shelter sheds at 3pm….
My Bud just had this happen to him. Luckily Blizz restored all his toons and refunded his gear, however his account is still locked pending investigation. Been that way for 2 weeks.
yeah there is the return…
luckily or my mate he can play on his wife’s account (rather than ICC 25) on her level 48…
Mmmm we just formed an arena team.. he just last night bought himself some gear.
He will get it back… but when I catch the fuckers in the BGs.. (I;ll know them cause they will be top gear no skill) I am going to rip their balls off and shove them down their throats.
Ohh BTW readers.. the report offensive language button is top right of the page.
If you think my language is more offensive than rape (and make no mistake, my mate has been raped), then feel free to report me
Oh just wanted to say, Gnome and Cyn keep up the great work with the blogs. Helps keep me sane at work. Thanks.
Thanks Nymesis… I know you folk appreciate it.. but it’s nice to hear it in straight up words!
Damn. Seems to happen a lot lately, read about it just last week on Aggromanagement. Cleaned out their guild bank, too.
Yeah.. it used to be occasional.. then it ramped up… now it’s frantic…
word to those of you without an Authenticator…
You are the only poor fuckers left for them to target….
THEY ARE COMING FOR YOU RIGHT NOW!
The buyers are not equally responsible, they are fully responsible.Without buyers there would be zero market for stolen gold.
There will always be a market.. but we used to joke about noobs that bought their accounts off ebay.
Now they buy them off their mates…
Grass cutting Mo’Fo’s
this is my biggest WoW nightmare right now. i’m with you, gnomey — gold sellers and buyers need to DIAF.
Have you seen the post on Kill Ten Rats…?
this one?
I bought WOW gold
I hate that feeling, I’ve had it happen once before, cleaned out my main and most of the stuff on some of my alts, but wasn’t able to hit much of the Guild Bank though I was just below GL. We kind of secure that for this purpose.
After aobut a week, I had all my stuff back, plus some old stuff that I had already sold… oops.
Anyway, I wonder what goes through the heads of those pricks as they pick away at your stuff, selling this and that. I was fortunate enough to save some of the DE’d stuff from selling on the AH, cause at the time I was max enchanting, so they had a hayday with my gear.
I agree though, that’s blood money, and the blood is on their hands.
They work…
they pay for their room and their board.
It’s like asking if the guy that cuts a company feels… of course he does… but it’s his job and he’s good at it!
If it wasn’t for the shareholders (goldbuyers) he wouldn’t have a job.
Like I say.. would you deprive the guy tat just score food for his family for a week (that wouldn’t without it?).. I wouldn’t…
But I will hunt down the bastard that paid his boss!
You know what I think… Let’s do one of those server crippling protests…
Motivate your server (all servers) to crash your sever at 8pm every night until Blizzard fucks these people over once and for all!
it can be done.. I know people that can make a hackers backside smell sweet.. which is why they work in anti-hacking…
Blizzard – sort it!
Yeah, after the second ‘vaguely dippy, but not actually daft’ friend got hacked, I bought me and my g/f Authenticators.
Not perfect, maybe not necessary, but eh, I’d feel pretty damn silly if I got myself hacked after so many warnings.
Yeah I got one too after they beame cheap ( if you ignore the cost of the iPhone)
Seems to be happening a lot lately – two players in my guild were both hacked this week. They’re both very casual players, so one didn’t notice for a few days, and the other STILL hasn’t logged on/noticed. Much to our annoyance, the hackers used both characters to bot with and farm elemental junk up in Storm Peaks. It’s been 4 days now and we keep seeing him in our guild, in Storm Peaks for hours upon hours…
Uuuggh. At least it’s a constant reminder to the rest of you.
PS: you blog name give me a chuckle every time I see it.
OK confused as to how you will know who did this. You say they will have top gear and no skill in arena? How?
ps get an authenticator. you’re responsible for your own account security.
I have no idea… but if I ever find out…
As for his gear.. ICC is his current “home”. The PvP gear is his latest joy, so it’s only early days… The Arran team was registered 3 days ago (in part at my suggestion) so we have yet started on that..
A slight delay has now been introduced
Ohh and yes, we are all responsible for our own account security.
The problem is for my mates we are all Aussie… So the cost is prohibitive if you are tech savvy – which they are.
It might be free in other parts of the world, but the cost of postage at the moment makes a server/faction transfer appear like value for money in comparison.
Why Blizzard can’t just ship them to a local distributor is beyond me.
I think the majority of buyres are folks that are newer to the game, and don’t understand what the real cost of it is.
For this portion of old buying, I feel Blizzard is at least *slightly* to blame, since I have yet to see anything anywhere in game to let the ultra/ casual players know that GOLD BUYING IS BAD.
It’s not even on any of the loading screen tips.
If, however, you’re an established player, and you (should) know how this whole thing works, then yeah, rip ‘em a new one.
Oh, and yes, I also think that Blizzard COULD do something about it if they truly wanted to.
If they can tell me how many times I’ve farted, and when the last time I caught a fish, they sure as hell can figure out who the money mules are.
AFter all, now that much of the trade/mail abilities of the trial accounts have been locked, they have to be using “real” accounts, and these can be traced.
(perhaps Blizzard is actually doing this? I don’t believe it, but it would be a sweet way for them to play both sides of the profit-making game!)
Blizz has finally done something about that… A page or two… Had it listed on the login screen.
Personally I think they should replace the normal login screen with a big red one telling new users that they will be shot on sight if the buy gold.
I’ll sign off on that
(but never saw that Blizz note
)
It awoke early this morning to call Blizzard, and as they have been inundated with calls, they can’t help me at this time.
One a positive note, i recieved an email from Blizz and they have refunded all my gear and gold for my toons… that was fast….I didn’t realize i had so much stuff.
Although i have all my gear back, the hacker enabled an Authenticator, so i still can’t login to user management or WoW, but was able to reset password.
One other thin i noticed when trying to posted in the wow Support Forums, it states that there is no account attached to this profile so i can’t actually post.
Here’s hoping they get that authenticator off soon Deady, then track the buyer down and drag him/her around Dalaran with his pants around his ankles
Gnomer, I feel for ya. It happened to me before. Blizz took about three weeks to clear everything up and restore everything back to me. I felt so lost without my pally. It’s a horrible feeling.

Looking at the Battle.Net site, in addition to the iPhone app, you can now get free authenticator programs for Android phones and paid downloads (US$0.99) for many mobile phones. Of course, my exact model phone – Motorola KRZR K1 – is not on the list although the K1c, K1m and K1v are – FML!
Good News.
Blizzard must have a system in place these days as which helps to recover stolen account. I had all my gear mailed back to me for every character, and the Authenticator which was attached to my account has been removed as well as the 72 hour ban.
So I’m back up and running wit an authenticator in the mail. I still have my other 7 or 8 characters to fix.
All in all, I’m rapt at the speed at which things progressed.
Awesome news and kudos to Blizzard for their prompt action – over a weekend no less.
Glad they fixed things for you!
I’m still at a loss how Blizz can do THAT, but can’t track down the folks who hack the accounts and the gold buyers?
Eliminate the buyers and the sellers go away.
Simple equation.
(though, as I said above, they need to better inform newbies about the issues that buying gold causes)
Perhaps this will make you feel a bit better?

I, for one, would like to have a special option in the Chat pant (not just Report Spam) that says “Report Gold Seller NOW”.
But yeah, Blizzard need to make a big deal to new players about how wrong it is to buy gold – not only does it make another 10 players absolutely miserable, I’m convinced it also wrecks the server economy.
I had about 1-2k gold worth of enchanting materials sniped out of my bags. Right after I was hacked I went to the AH and screen captured the sellers suddenly listing 10 stacks of Infinite Dust. Sure, I got my gold and materials back, but I bet Blizzard don’t reverse the use of items that have been stolen, sold and consumed by other players.
lol
WTB more random GMs…
I bet there were some dirty undies in the guild that day!
“I don’t give a shit about the gold sellers.. they are earning a living… you are scumbags are buying a living.”
I think your anger is misplaced. You should be focusing it on the people who actually commited the deed and hacked your account. It was their actions, they should be held accountable for it.
Otherwise, isn’t that a little like blaming the Columbian drug trade on stoners?
