OK, let me start on the bright side…
Arioch (bless her soul) brought this little number to my attention in the comments of Magic Strudel’s post (why did you roll a Mage?). I wonder if Megan can top a pro like Nyhm?
There was a video ^^ there if it is blocked by the blog nazis… worth a look… trust me!
OK, so down to business…
Like he said, but different
Krizzlybear makes an excellent case for the new LFG… no, not over there… Over here!
But.. I think that the New LFG is NGE!
OK, let’s look on the bright side of LFG…
- Get groups quick – Check
- Get emblems quick – Check
- Luck out with instances and OP people you normally wouldn’t play with – Check
- Get achievements you know your friends would be envious of – Check
Mmmm doesn’t sound that bad does it?
But what if you want to do something different… you know, like not chase emblems… like… ummm… play the game?
But what more is there?
PvP… Raiding… scratching your butt.
I’m going to leave the 3rd option to you, but the 1st two are a real problem for me.
I understand that there is excitement about the International Cricket Council joining WoW. I wasn’t aware that so many of you enjoyed cricket… but all I see is
LF1M ICC
Well good on you… you don’t mind if I queue for a VoA, Naxx or Ulduar do you?
No I thought not.
Ever watched a 5 day cricket test?
Blizzard does… well I guess technically they don’t, but if I want to queue for a raid that may not start for 3 or 4 weeks, I can’t do anything else… hell I might as well watch Cricket!
Maybe I can get a quick random instance in while I wait…
What?
NOOOOOO?
You mean I can’t do anything while waiting to do something?
I guess I will just have to do laps of Dalaran… maybe show off my patchwork T7 gear…
I’m at the point right now where I do randoms until Wintergrasp pops.. do that then join the random queue..
Why?
It’s all about the gear folks!
I don’t know what else it could be about…
- Random Instances = Too much PvE gear too soon
- Wintergrasp = PvP gear for keyboard turners.
But, if you have this desire to do a bit of this AND a bit of that… well you have to choose and god forbid you make the wrong choice and remain in the queue until the weekly server restart!
It’s not who I am!
- I like Instances…
- I like raids…
- I love Battlegrounds…
I love to mix and match those in a night, but now, I feel like I need to make a choice and stick with it… but that just isn’t who I am.
I defend my right to be bad at all parts of this game all the time!
No Cross Dressing allowed!
There is one last thing that cheeses me off about the latest patch, not the cross dressing that I want in the game (and will discuss in coming days), but rather the fact that Blizzard has now decided that I have to wear MAIL!
Do I look like a postman?
Some boots dropped when we were running an instance the other day.. the were an upgrade in EVERY way, except for armor, because they were cloth, and we all know
No self respecting Resto Shaman would wear cloth!
Except well.. I like the feel of cloth against my skin…
There were no clothies in the party (even if there were, they would most likely have out geared this drop), there were no disenchanters, but all I could do was greed the item.. and I lost!
Just trade it short stuff!
Well, I would, if I could… but that would be like x-transfer and we can’t have that!
I was in ToC the other night. A pair of boots dropped and someone desperately wanted them… unfortunately I won them and I couldn’t trade them…
To make things worse, this same player then won something I wanted… but he couldn’t trade it to me!
Seriously Blizzard.. this just sucks!
Make it tradable until the group disbands… please…
There are good things in this patch though!
One thing that has always cheesed me off, is being a healer in Culling of Stratholme.
- I can handle the tank getting way ahead.
- I don’t mind laughing at the DPS that pulled aggro, that I don’t have time to Rez.
- I do hate the zombies chowing down on my calamari face while I try to heal… and the DPS are more concerned about squeezing out one more cast rather than saving me.
Fire Nova Totem Rocks!
The change they have made to make this castable on any fire totem just rocks!
I am clearing the zombies while the team works on the important mobs…
Hell, I basically 3 manned CoS last night, in part because I was able to clear the annoying buggers myself without missing a beat.
Let me play my game
Anyway, I need to finish up.. it’s 1am in the morning, hopefully by the time you are reading this I will have taken possession of my 1st home.
Whatever happens tomorrow (err today), I just hope one of the Blizzard developers reads this and realizes that they are isolating players by limiting their choices.
Sure if someone joins up for a random instance, prevent them from doing other stuff… but not the other way around!
Gnomer and Out, Squidly and Stoush!

Gratz on the first home!
“I defend my right to be bad at all parts of this game all the time!”
I agree with this, I had not yet tried to queue for multiple types of groups at the same time, this is kind of disappointing.
About the gear trading… I’ve been able to trade drops before – just have to hope the other player didn’t select DE, don’t think the shards are tradeable and they certainly can’t be put back into the gear form they were in.
Since I’m usually the enchanter in the group, I just hit greed on everything, I can always DE it at my leisure and if someone turns out to want the piece later, at least it’s not a pretty pile of dust.
overlooking your stealthy slap at me and my fellow keyboard turners, i hereby wish you many happy years in your new home!
Ssssshhhhh don’t tell anyone, but i’m a closet keyboard turner… I just wait until no one is around to see
Mortgage is mine!
Woot!
This is really a pain. And I guess it’s what reputation grinds are for. To have something to do while you’re waiting. I know by now already that I will spend hours on friday night grinding ogres in Nagrand (yeah, I’m about to become a Diplomat), even if I basically don’t care that much about achievements and titles, just because I have to have something to do while trying to find a ICC 10 man raid. The thing that bothers me now is the LFG channel. Will I not be able to follow it from Nagrand? If that’s the case, what the * am I supposed to do in the major cities while waiting??? I’ve really never ever understood the point of fishing coins in Dalaran.
Achievement points!
There’s 4 achievements from that fountain, plus the Dalaran Titanium Seal reward for those of us that collect stupid, useless things.
You have a good point, I haven’t experienced the armour prio frustration yet luckily, but the bf has and I’ve seen him lose an awesome leather belt on his dk to an Abyss Crystal. Nasty Blizzard :<
Not being able to queue for multiple things sucks. Usually if I queue it's because my mind is set but once in a while I don't know what I want to do, then it would be useful to queue for a couple of things.
However, aside from the above, the group finder is pretty awesome ^^
the gear things does suck… I understand ninjas make things hard.. but, in particular for entry level 80s, the fabric isn’t as important as the green numbers.
As I pug basically everything, I find that I need to sign up for everything…
Raids will take hours for me to get a bite.
BGs maybe 20 minutes
Instances… OK with the new random interface Squidly is lucky to go 2 minutes without an invite.
So I want to queue for the Raid and the BG and take the quick instance.
If need be, pause my position in the other queues while I finish the one that pops… but at least give me a choice.
I agree on the new Fire Nova….while my own shammy is in his low 40s, I have been enjoying the burst of fire from my fire totems from this spell. But as far as cricket…being a “yank” I can’t quite understand this sport. I attempted to watch it a few times while stationed in Korea…Rugby is a bit more enjoyable for me to watch. Maybe it is the zinc on the noses of all the white players when the sun is shinning.
Match cricket takes a bit of patience… helps if you have been brought up in a house where the cricket is on the TV and every radio in the house over summer… you just go about you daily routine until you hear the ohhs and ahhhs of the commentators… Still there can be edge of the seat moments even over 5 days…
A lot of it is knowing the game… knowing that the opposition missing 10 balls in a row is great stuff.
If you want to see the more exciting side watch a one-day international just 50 overs each.. lots of big hitting and action…
Or if you have a Gen Y attention span 20-20 condenses it all right down… then you will see bit hitting from the moment they take the field.
Rugby… I will leave that to my Northern Neighbors… now Aussie rules… that’s different (and over for the year)
Grats on the new home! ^_^
I’ve found that if you’re dps, the lfg option can take FOREVER to find you a group. I think the cues were estimated as high as 10 minutes the other night, and I just dropped cue after 15 minutes since I didn’t want to run circles around Dalaran anymore than I already had.
Gnomer for the record Arioch has no soul for you to bless. IF you would like to bless the deep dark void where her sould used to reside before she grilled it for dinner go right ahead.
Grats on the home!!!!
Guess I’ll keep my keyboard turning secret for a whlie longer…
Katt has lost out on at least 2 leather & cloth items that would have been MAJOR upgrades for her. *soft sob*

Alllow me to explain the point of 5 day test match cricket.
Football – you go to a match, have a few beers with mates, relax and watch the game. This lasts 90 minutes.
Test cricket – you got to a match, have a few beers with mates, relax and watch the game. This lasts 5 days.
So my suggestion is to get a glass or two of the tipple of your choice, hop on vent, and make sure everyone is having a good giggle.
(I admit this comment is completely useless, but I always feel the need to defend the right of test cricket fans everywhere to drink for five days straight).
Ahh yes… and with the Boxing Day test about to begin.. that’s at least one day of sitting in long ago renamed “Bay 13″, getting sunburnt and downing beers…
The perfect way to recover from Christmas!
Personally I like to defend the right of anyone (Cricket Fan or not) to drink for 5 days straight…. someone say fishing?
