Hey folks, just a quick follow up.
I know a few of you decided to try living with out you word verification. Some of you appropriately took my request as a demand (or was it the other way around), others have just tried it out.
Nibuca (She’s been getting heaps of mentions lately), sent the post out on a #tntcast, which I guess means there is a chance she will raise it on TNB this week.
The other thing she has been doing is giving daily updates on the change in her spam levels.
Her’s have gone up, mine have gone… well mine haven’t changed much.
In the last week 400 odd comments went straight to the spam keeper, I wasn’t even disturbed by them.
After the wow.com linkage I got the usual batch of scrapped wow.com posts linking back to me. Only one got through, 5 others were captured for moderation.
I have had a false positive, my 1st in a long time, which was quickly fixed (once I woke up this morning).
How about you?
I know Nib hates (code) hacks, so I’m sure she would like a bit more data than my positive and her average-going-on-painful experiences.

I’ve had one spam. On the upside I’ve had a few more comments; I guess anonymous people were just waiting to argue.
I guess my blog just isn’t good enough for the spammer. Well fine! I didn’t want them anyway.
I add spam totals I don’t have to remove to my comment count…

Up to 11 spam awaiting moderation, 12,780 caught in total
Only had 3762 spam on my blog, and I think its something that goes up with the ratio of readers. Amazing that spammers thing to even try these days.
I spam you all the time… but of course they are just silly Gnome comments…
I don’t get much spam. Some of it’s funny so I keep a screen cap of it before I toss it.
Most of my false positives were from a commenter that had an apostrophe in their user name. Odd.
yeah there is some funny stuff.. I often translate it in the hope of a gem…

I’m starting to get so sick and tired with the spam…
They’re especially targeting a couple of old posts. Over and over and over again. I keep taking it away and I have no idea of what I can do apart from that.
I have my days… but it is more the frustration of “ohh that post again…”
Well that and the smarter ones… that might just be comments…

I don’t really get allot of spam especially for a veteran WoW blogger and fairly visible site. I used to one time and it kinda varies a bit during the year.
Any comment any post over 5 days old is auto moderated to catch spam. All spam is removed on new post within 12 hrs if not immediately. All comments are immediately send to my mobile device which I check often. As such spam life if it’s on a comment is immediately removed. I take great care of my blog as it relate to spam and comments.
Needless to say spamis not a issue for me at this point.

I am the same.. apart from overnight spam, nothing sits on a page for longer than 1/2 hour. Generally the stuff in moderation is cleared in the same period.
I wonder whether Akismet uses this in some way… not so much our active blogs, but the retired blogs that due to inactivity are fundamentally condoning the presence of the comment
Oh and forget this one. Spammers like one the commenters mentioned above love to target “old” posts for some I’ll reason. As well if you don’t moderate your site to some degree then your blog is open season for other spammers to spam your comments heavily,
Yep same here too… there are a couple of old posts that as soon as I see they have a coment, I am 99% sure it is spam.
I’m upset I don’t get as much spam as some websites. I view it as a badge of honor.
In other news I got tons of Viagra, and porn to view now. LOL!
I got hit the other day with 82 spam.. 1st time in ages that this has happened. All straight through for moderation though, none slipped through to the posts.
