I know what you mean. I also find it hard to do the quick pre-emptive pugish raid set ups.

What buffs will I or won't I get etc.

I stopped using it for Gnomeaggedon as it didn't seem to find much for me to chase and I was unsure of numbers I never seemed to achieve...

But them on a couple off occasions the stars aligned and I cracked 4k in 5 mans... Might have pulled a little aggro too...

The problem is getting the stars to align as Rawr expects them

I have rawr, and conceptually it is really cool, but I doubt some of it's numbers. I loaded my elemental set, and it has me doing roughly double the dps that I actually do. I know my usage is "sub-optimal" but I can't hit those numbers on patchwerk, raid buffed and just blasting away.

Hey Grimmtooth

There is a video on the main page of the Rawr website that gives a great introduction to Rawr.

At 1st glance it's all way too complicated. After you do the video tour you will be up and running and looking for ways to tweak the results to your liking.

Of course THIS guide is a quick and dirty for quick and dirty gear selections. Next week I will discuss quick and dirty upgrade identification.

Once you are 80 (maybe just before as well), you would want to take a bit more care to get the best results from your character.

I'm bookmarking this for later reference. I have RAWR but I've not taken the time to really make good use of it. Instead I stick to what I know, which is spreadsheets, tooltips, and many quality hours at the target dummy. This certainly looks more productive to me :)
