The question was asked on Twisted Nether Blogcast the other day
Where are the Resto Shaman Blogs?
Ok, that wasn’t the question, but for once I was “there” so I am just quoting based on my short term memory.
My immediate response was to reel of a series of blogs that deal to some extent or another with Resto Shaman.
You can find them on my ReadByGnome page as well as listed out below, but still it raised an interesting thought.
- Priest blogs… Dime a dozen
- Tree Blogs… Just waiting for the forest fire to thin them out…
- Pally Blogs… Boring… Well how much can you write about one, maybe two healing spells.
- Resto Shamanism seems to be one of those areas that suffer as much burnout as altaholics grinding Argent Crusade rep.
I Know Nuffink!
I can’t say that I have gotten to the point where I feel knowledgeable enough to write guides on gear, specs etc.
I have contemplated writing some stiff on healing various instances, after all I am in the thick of it right now and knowing when to drop the cleansing totem or tremor totem is as, if not more, important than whether to cast healing wave, lease healing wave or chain heal.
I haven’t done so yet though, in fact I realize now I haven’t even read any on the topic. I know Jagerbombz wrote some back in the early days of Wrath, but I haven’t yet read then in the dying days.
So I guess I have a couple of questions.
Where are the Resto Shaman Bloggers and the resources they can offer?
and
Why do they appear and disappear quicker than a flame totem?
- I don’t know that it’s too easy.
- Maybe it’s too hard.
Not so much to play, but rather to teach.
Born to Kill
I think one of the things I like about the Resto Shaman is it really seems suited to PvP.
Not that it’s OP, but rather that it requires the same flexibility in thinking. You may enter an encounter with one set of totems, using one style of healing, but come out the other side with completely different skills in use.
Can you teach that?
Can you write a guide on how to NOT have a strategy, rather to get into the flow, anticipate and act?
Needless to say, I don’t have any answers, but I’m not hanging up the blogging boots any time soon and if I find some time I will try to write something that vaguely resembles a shaman guide or two… Right after I write a Mage guide or two… kk
The game isn’t just for the Old Skool, there are plenty of folks (like me) that have just discovered their new passion.
After all, those that know how to play their Mages and Shaman only read this blog to laugh at the stupidity I spout, there is a whole group of suckers waiting to be misled by this Gnome and his Chain Heal throwing mate.
So if you do write (or have the desire to write) a Resto Shaman blog, remember that we aren’t all skipping Ulduar because it’s beneath us. Many of us are still trying to work out which way up the totems go (and the packaging gives no indication!).
So don’t be shy about writing the basics… that’s one of the ways that blogs shine. We keep out info up to date and are a great resource for those just turning to the class for the 1st time.
Try these, you just might like them
Try out some of these blogs. Poke them and prod them if they don’t have the info you need us Shaman are used to sticks, so put them to good use.
Apologies ion advance for those I miss.. I’m tired right now… if you don’t write one please throw the details in the comments!

Sir, I’m going to let you in on a little secret: Resto Shaman bloggers are awesome. Why on the surface, we might seem like lazy writers, quitters and ranters, the reality is much more complex. We have all sorts of other stuff to do, humanitarian missions in africa, keeping eco-systems alive and saving homeless pets.
Honestly, I absolutely get what you want from a shaman blog. In fact, that’s what I’m trying to do for a whole year now. My main focus is clearly on raiding, but I try to update my entry gear entries and I always try to come back to very basic stuff. Also, I try to somewhat spotlight important addons which will make your life a lot easier.
There are three things though, that somewhat don’t help in my blogging endeavors:
1) When I don’t raid I don’t play WoW and then I don’t post or my posts suck. I was in south america this summer, then lost my raid spot because of this absence which led to less quality posts on my site.
2) I’m really really horrible at advertising myself. Aka, I’m lazy at getting myself on link lists or blog rolls. I’m horrible at updating twitter. I’m really bad when it comes to reading other blogs and leaving comments. There aren’t any forums I’m really active in. This leads to many people having no idea, that my blog even exists. Which leads to less feedback on my site, which would inspire me to new, quality posts.
3) My Engrish is bad! English just isn’t my native tongue. When I’m writing in german, I’m really someone who cares about correct grammer/syntax, so it’s a little bit annoying to fail at writing good, eloquent posts and especially at being funny.
This is why I absolutely love everyone, who recommends my site to anyone, gives me some link love, keeps coming back to my site and especially everyone who leaves a comment.
It’s absolutely true though, that in the year I’ve been blogging, many resto shamans blogs have come and gone. But I’m still around and I’d love to see some more resto shaman blogs pop up, especially those who might live longer than some short months.
Hey Drug,
You are the man…
For someone with English as a second language… well I dare say that at least one commenters will point out that yours is better than mine.
I want to say more, but Odin (my 3rd) is claiming PC rights… I will get back when it’s “My turn”
The title of your post seems to reference the line in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet that reads “Wherefore art thou Romeo” yet the tone of your post seems to be talking about the location/existence of Resto Shaman blogs. “Wherefore” does not mean the same as “where”, rather it means “why” or “for what reason” and so Juliet is asking essentially: “Why are you Romeo?”. She then goes on to bemoan his identity as a Montague and we get “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.”
You may think I am being pedantic but if you write something which you expect/hope to be read by other people it is incumbent on you to not perpetuate linguistic misapprehensions.
Good luck with your blog.
Hey Billfan,
Thanks for that clarifiction, it is something they never covered at Uni… Amazing isn’t it.
Anyway, while I appreciate your clarification, I would point out that: 1) this isn’t a literary blog 2) it’s my blog and I will influence, for better or worse, the English language anyway I see fit.
Afterall, if we were to purely adhere to English language purists, would we not still be speaking and writing in Shakespearian, nay Latin, Doh French… Actualy I guess when all is said and done it would be extremely presumptuous to state that any one use of the English language is the one and only correct use.
Now that all said, this blog is about approaching what many people consider a serious subject (Srs Biz) and putting a silly, of not stupid spin on it.
For instance, did you read the previous post?
Anyway, as I said, it is blog blog and I will bugger the English language till Ol’ Will rolls in his grave, hell, till he rises up and comes chasing after me…
Afterall, I am a Gnome Fire Mage with a Squid Shaman to cover my back. I eat the forsaken for breakfast.
Of course anonymous trolls like yourself provide a completely different kind of entertainment.
Thank you!
Oh yeah I was going to point you in the direction of Drug’s blog, but he’s already commented.

I’d say “ask and ye shall receive” but I’m too scared to get the meaning of my old english reference right. /cower
Yep, I am well aware of Drug (though a bit behind in my reading.. scrambles off to correct this).
We don’t /cower!
I’m sure you know, but you seem to have forgotten, Altadin.com, despite the name, is written by a raiding Resto Shammy.
She mostly deals with raid/guild leadership topics and general wow stuff, but she does dip into the waters of restoness occasionally.
One of my favorites.
Thanks Rhii… yeah Altadin ended up in a different part of my feedreader, thus missed 1st pass.
I’m sure there are more, but my feedreader hasn’t received the attention it deserves lately
That’s World of Matticus corporation to you buddy! ^^
I was going to go with Galacticus Matticus!
[...] beloved gnome already noticed it: there aren’t really a lot of resto shaman blogs out [...]
