There are two ends to a battleground, oh what’s that Gnomeaggedon…
There are four… Maybe more, but I only have 4 fingers to count on.
Ok, let me rephrase that, there are two ends to a battleground scoreboard.
Hands up if you have NEVER reviewed the scoreboard that the end of a Battleground (or even during the battle).
No, not many. I thought as much…
You probably changed the sort order from overall stats to Damage dealt, maybe even refined it to just your faction. Maybe you looked at deaths too.
Did you ever look at the back end of the scoreboard, the one that may be a closer indicator of whether you deserved to win or not?
Click on the Healing done column sometime, that’s where the real battle raged, especially in AV where a common objective is last faction standing.
Damage dealers are facing off against other damage dealers, assessing their strengths and weaknesses.
Healers have to be conscious of this too…
Is that damage dealer going to one-shot you? Will you get the heal off before facing the spirit healer?
Really our main opponents are the other factions healers. If they have done more healing, it’s quite possible (not necessarily true, but possible) that they have saved more lives than your side.
Hopefully you are taking out physical battleground objectives (while saving yours) to tip the balance in reinforcement numbers
I was in a AV the other day where 3 healers did more than 300,000 heal worth of heals. The Alliance won that AV, we had two healers with more than 300k worth of heals. It was a close healer battle, but in the end we saved more lives.
Who won this BG?
The damage dealers, or the healers?
Obviously without the damage dealers the healers wouldn’t have stood a chance, but without the backend healer battle being won by the Alliance, most likely the victory would have gone to the Horde.
