Galv…
Galv, Galv… Galv!
AV hasn’t been going in my favor. More losses than wins. There was one win where a small but determined defense managed to slaughter the Horde over and over again on our bridge, but that rarely goes well.
The problem is Galv… Or Galv and the 1/2 dozen Horde assisting him.
Well that’s a part of the problem, the other problem is the 35 lemmings I’m playing with.
Lemmings
One AV I was in the other day started with a healthy amount of discussion before the battle began.
It’s a shame the conversation was toxic, well pointless at least.
Are we winning?
No the Horde are slaughtering us BG after BG.
They cane as at Galv, we can never get passed him.
Ok, skip Galv, force our way up to Drek.
You are such a noob!
Who is the noob?
Well the noob boot is on your foot buddy!
Even though it was discussed before the battle began.
Even though wave after wave of Alliance was slaughtered at Galv, only about 5 of us tried to alter the strategy.
Finally, about 10 minutes into the battle, reinforcements at 200 to the Horde’s 500 the Alliance changed tack. They saw we had somehow managed to take IBGY, and most of them started moving forward. Most, not all, some still threw their corpses at Galv.
The Horde are in our base eating our babies.
I looked at the map and found myself typing.
Good work folks, 5 minutes late though.
The Horde are in our base eating our babies!
Sure enough, the map revealed that our bunkers and GY belonged to the Horde and they were starting on Van
Meanwhile, we had barley left the starting zone.
Spot the smart ones
While I appreciate taking Galv down is the standard strategy, helps our reinforcements and makes the battle with Drek easier, it only makes sense if you can one-shot Galv.
The Horde are on to us, they have changed from their turtle defense tactic to small defense at Galv while massive turtle in Offense.
As they have changed their losing tactic to a winning one, while you grasp desperately to what has become a losing tactic, they are smarter than you.
Let me repeat this…
The Horde are smarter than the Alliance!
I admit only marginally, they lost for long enough with the turtle defense. At least the had the smarts to change tactics.
Next time someone suggests an alternative strategy to the one that ensures you lose, take a chance, you may just win before your reinforcements run out.
There are towers in that there EoTS.
Change of battleground, but the Horde are still eating our babies.
Since when did the strategy go from grab two bases and push the other two while grabbing the occasional flag (ok I am acknowledging capturing the flag), to taking one base and grabbing the flag?
- 1/2 the team rush MT
Ok, good. Overkill, but at least you are taking it. - 1/2 the team rush the flag.
Mmmm no folks, how about we take DR 1st? - The other 1/2 rush DR.
Hang on, I have run out of halves. It’s just me there… Ohh and 1/2 the Horde forces.
Here’s a tip folks, I think I used to lose only 1 in 10 games playing this tactic.
- 1 person take MT
- 1 person take DR
- Everyone else split evenly and take the two Horde towers (yes, ignore the flag right now).
That way we will have as many, if not more (because the Horde noobs will be rushing the flag) at what would normally be Horde bases.
There is a chance that the Horde bases will be ours before they score a point, yes even before MT and DR have converted for us.
But here’s the thing, while the only bases on the map are either neutral or Alliance, the Horde can only spawn in their starting zone.
This means…
- They have a long run.
- They have to choose which tower to attack, which means their forces will be divided.
- They can’t cap the flag even if they grab it.
- We can sit at the bottom of their base and slaughter them as they respawn.
- Many will be so demoralized that they will quit the BG.
How do you think you win 1600/0?
Why make things harder on yourself, on me…
Take their towers 1st!
I’m tired of the Horde eating my babies. Please let me feast on Belf wings and Orc knuckles!

Hmm, I might just spam that EotS startegy next time I go in there, see if it works. Not having my win EotS achievement yet is bugging me >.<
It used to work a treat… I really don’t know what has happened. I think it’s the cycle thing.
One side uses a strategy, one day the other side wakes up and uses it…
Some time later the strategy changes, sometime later the other side adopts it…
it just seems there needs to be 2 or 3 weeks of failing at any particular tactic before the word spreads to try something new.
… If only people listened within the battlegrounds…
I have a perfect example of this coming up… unfortunately NOT fro the Alliance perspective
Iz told you Allies get cained in your bracket!
tomorrow I’ll come along for the shenanigans !
lol…yes you did… but I don’t think it’s the bracket.
We started getting caned back in the old bracket… in everything.
I actually won an AB this morning for the 1st time in a while.
Om nom nom.
Alliance babies is tasty.
Send more.
I support this decision.
They taste like pork.
At least, draenei do. ~_^
Ahhh butt I want to be with Drek eating Tauren burgers!
Do I need to tell you what they taste like?
Great, thanks gnomer, now I’m hungry. Tauren burgers are the best!
>.>
<.<
I still punt gnomes though.
In my Battlegroup EoTS tends to split down the middle which is just weird… Usually Horde holds one of our towers and one Ally tower and vice versa. Why? I don’t know. It’s demented. It makes every game incredibly down to the wire… which is fun sometimes, but kind of tiresome after game after game after game of it. Nobody wants to play a LOOOOONG EotS and then lose, it’s just a waste of valuable leveling time.
Also our Isle of Conquest queue is broken. Its been the daily the last two days in a row for me, but the queue always says last 10 players got in in less than one minute, but you queue for it and you’ll wait HOURS with no invite. Very annoying. I don’t think it’s launching at all. We waited like three and a half hours yesterday. If it’s like that today I’m filing a ticket. I want my daily.
That seems to be the tactic of the moment… not sure why, but exactly the same thing in happening on Bloodlust.
That is a serious isle of Conquest break… especially when you have no choice of daily.
[...] start. Since you won’t have a clue what I’m talking about if you don’t, go read this. I’ll wait. Seriously, I’m a lot funnier with context. Done? So ya, my Orc [...]
and now they taunt me from their stronghold…
Have you seen this win ratio…
It’s enough to make the Alliance cry… some more…
I usually try to encourage a 3+flag-afterwards strategy by trying to “weight” one side of our initial rush. More to MT, then push DR; more to DR, then push BE. Of course that only works when people split to the two towers…as you say, we seem to be putting 2-3 on each of *our* towers and the other 10 on the flag lately :-\.
I would live with 3… the Cap 1, grab the flag routine is becoming very old… as is the “shut up noob, we are winning” after the 1st flag cap… only to watch the score stagnate
