She said some things in that post that made me realize that it’s the healers of a party that are really bad arse.
Taking a bullet… or not!
Gnomeaggedon, as a dress wearing wet paper bag of a squishy DPS, would take a bullet for anyone in the party.
- Mob heading at the healer, here snack on me 1st.
- Too many on the tank… Never fear, Gnomer is here to kite them at least 20 yards before chewing dirt.
Likewise you see Tanks charging left, intercepting right, taking the hits that would split a normal hero in half. The tanks job is to take the bullets as many bullets as possible.
Healers…
- We sit at the back.
- We cry if we get the attention of a mob.
- We assign the 1st dps to die, if the need arises, after the 1st 3 pulls.
- If more need to die, we are accepting of their sacrifice.
- If they are twits then they go to the top of our disposable lists.
Any excuse will do
If they are rude twits, we find reasons not to heal them, such as…
- Oh LoS, sorry I couldn’t see past the Gnome Fire Mage.
- Sorry DK, Healbot puts your bar red, so I never know if you are at full health or not.
- You are a rude twit and will get mo more healing love from me.
- Ohh that green puddle you were standing in did damage to you? I will make sure I get out of them if I ever see one.
- I would have given you more heals but I had to spam heal myself to stop this critter from tearing me to pieces.
It’s amazing how quickly I have come around to this disposable way of thinking.
A moral, there is a moral to this immoral tale?
I guess the moral of this story is don’t piss your healer off, because we don’t give a stuff anyway.
Don’t give us a reason to care less.

Totally agree. I’m a right out bitch on my healer. I don’t heal stupid. And I have stopped healing people that have proven to be stupid.
I don’t stand in fire/poison/bad stuff as a DPS and expect to be healed. It’s not that hard, really.
Stupid… there is no decurse for stupid…
Had a Boomkin the other day that liked going Boom… into extra mobs, pulling aggro etc…
Poor guy spent more time on the floor than casting…
But I wasn’t the only one frustrated by him

I’m a long time healer, yet to give a shit Tree.
As a healer I don’t feel I’m a bad ass.
I live by a simple code. DPS are a dime-a-dozen
In wow lives come cheap. Look after yours and the tanks. Tanks have massive repair bills and tend to be good to us healers. I have found I have developed co dependent relationships with tanks.
Tank runs in whilst I’m replenishing mana……i’ll get up and do the best i can…things go wrong thats what shadow meld is for…res the dead and we move on
dps runs in whilst i’m replenshing mana….sorry but you were out of range..no heals
DPS pulls aggro off the tank…. doesn’t make me bad that i don’t waste heals on him….he can only cop 3 hits before he’s worm food….so lets stay on task and help the tank…if they drop aggro and things settle sure i’ll top em off when i can.
Healing can get stressful at times. As DPS I never yell at my monitor. as a healer all sort of weird sounds can come out when its a chaotic fight.
To survive as a healer you need to reduce the stress. I managed this as soon as i realised DPS are just like Infantry. They are expendable for the greater good.
Mmm now I know why Gnome takes so many dirt baths…
I have been taking you advice… I care less now about the DPS… I care, but not to the point where the tank or I die 1st.
That stupid Boomkin made me lose the Mage… No more heals for boomkin
As a healer, I’ve never let anyone die because of the lack of healing.
I’ve kicked people who love to stand in fire/green things, but i tell them that this will happen if they keep doing it.
same to DPS paladins/warriors/Dks that try to tank instead of the real tanking speced tank.
You never saw me while i was the raid leader of my guild, which is a good thing, i can be a meanie whenever stuff like that happens, but i always say that such things will not be tolerated.
I always pipe up… assuming someone else hasn’t.
I make it really clear that we will be wipe free while there is only one healing target.. if they want to make more targets… well I will get to them… maybe
