Coming from the perspective of a 3 foot squishy Mage, Gnomeaggedon could never understand why anyone would want to heal in Battlegrounds.
They are scary places where often the cloth wearer is the 1st to die. If you have any interest in PvP you would have read or heard that the Healer should always be the priority #1 target.
PvE sounds much safer
It sounds that way… Nice “controlled” damage coming from a bunch of scripted foes.
In reality I think I have more deaths in instances than I do in BGs. I probably lose relatively more healing targets in PvE than I do in PvP.
PvE sounds much more exciting
Yeah, nothing beats the thrill of a boss kill. It’s a shame that there is snoozefest between bosses and often those bosses are tuned to stress healers more than DPS or tanks.
Battlegrounds are non stop action. You will dream of the day you has O5SR mana regen. Heal, run, heal, heal, heal, run, decurse, cheer.
For Teh Horde, For the Alliance!
If you have even the slightest ounce of RP in you, you will be aware that we are at war.
Sure there is that bunny Arthas around to distract you, but that’s all he is, a minor distraction.
Cataclysm is shaping up to remind us of our true reason for being.
Varian Wrynn is a nut bag, that would take a pot shot at a Hordie while dangling over a cliff with the only thing between him and certain doom being the Hordie holding his hand.
Garrosh… Well I think Garrosh hates his own mother, hopefully she hates him. He not only hates the Alliance with a passion, but he hates 1/2 the Horde too!
When Garrosh replaces Thrall, it will be all out war between the factions. The question is why wait?
Have some pride in your faction and kill a Hordie today!
I’ve played both factions over the years, dabbling in a bit of battlegrounds as I have gone along. When I am PvEing, questing etc I am overcome with the need to help another character in trouble, no matter what the faction.
After a bit of time in the battlegrounds your perspective changes. They really do become the enemy, you no longer dream of an alliance between the Horde and Alliance.
You dream of repelling the offensive scum!
For Teh Experience(s)
If you are a healer, especially if you are leveling, I recommend you wet your feet in a BG.
- You will learn all sort of skills and tactics
- You will save the day for your faction
- You will open the doors to a new range of gear that doesn’t cost emblems
- You will gain XP.
I now find myself queuing for a BG, joining LFG and then questing and grinding. It creates a great mix of activities for an evening and a steady flow of XP.
If you are dual spec, you will get enough time from when the BG invite pops to change spec before the invite elapses… If you are quick.
- Don’t be scared
- Don’t wet your pants.
- Heal the Battlegrounds!

Have some pride in your faction and punt a gnome today!
That one can even go for both sides…

Actually I’ve been trying to join BGs as resto on my lvl 67 druid, and it’s driving me nuts. It just doesn’t work for me.
1. The queues are insane. Something happened with those changes and I find myself waiting for hours!!! Not only for AV, which I’m used to, but for any BG. And the restrictions to only queue for two bg:s makes it even more annoying.
2. While I’m waiting to get a spot I want to keep questing. And I do that as feral ofc, since it’s easier. When I finally get a bg spot I want to switch to resto. BUT. The big square thing for accepting the bg is covering the whole screen so I can’t! I can’t switch spec and I can’t switch gear. And once I’ve accepted and joined the BG you can’t switch spec either!
Why on Earth do I have to quest as a resto if I’m in the queue for a BG? It makes the whole idea about dual-specing pointless.
Anyway: there you have one explanation why you don’t see that many healers in the BGs.
Hey Larisa, sounds like you are having a hard time of it.
Those queues can take forever sometimes and I am also hating the 2 queue restriction.
I must be better off because I am using talented, which is allowing me to access the necessary swap spec buttons.
You can change spec in a BG, but only before the battle begins. Once it starts, you are who you are.
So once again, the pits if you have waited for an hour for AV, only to get pulled in for the last few minutes (worst I had was the screen didn’t even completely load before I was deposited back in Dalaran… back to the queue)
Clutch heals win bgs, but Have you really stopped playing gnomeagggedon?
I really like gnomes now.
Hey Jong,
No Gnomeaggedon isn’t buried under the rubble of Squidly’s totems… although I admit I have become addicted to the heady mix of PvP and PvE honor kills, experience, gold and trophies…
I think I might take Gnomeaggedon for a spin really soon, assuming Zupa lets me once he get’s hold of his pocket BG healer.
I smell a respec in the air… something a little more PvP oriented..
I might just drop that Arcane spec that I never use and go for something a little more effective against the Horde.
I’m concerned for you Squidly.
I’m worried that when you hit 80 you’ll see the resilience gap and become dispirited.
But I’m also worried that your blood lust might become insatiable. What happens when the battlegrounds aren’t enough? Will you try to track down and smoosh every last hordlet? Will you let yourself become a monster?
Be careful, Squidly. In two weeks I don’t want you to wake up on Ogrim’s Hammer surrounded by bodies in the company of some horrible warlock.
http://www.venomouslegacy.com/news/show/324370
(Consequently our heroes got in a big slap fight over whether to use the the big cannon on Jaina ‘Easy for the Green’ Proudmoore or her lub-a-dub Thrall.)
Hey Ledin, how touching… I’m not too worried about the circle of bodies… but waking next to a Warlock would cause Gnomeaggedon to cast Squidly from this place… but no one could get that drunk… could they?
Resilience gap… iLevel gap.. there is a gap and it’s getting bigger every day. This is the reason that Gnomeaggedon is shelved. I may play reasonably well, but one quick GearScore and I would be excluded from even regular instances.
I’m building up honor, slowly but surely. I nearly have enough marks to grab myself another PvP mount… maybe I will hang onto them, there is bound to be some scrub PvP gear I can pick up.
Mmmm decisions, decision… Thrall or Jaina. My guess is you wont make many friends whichever you choose…
I dare say if those two got together the war would end… and there would be a spate of interbreeding…
You can switch specs if you get in the BG before the gates go up. After the gates go up you are SOL.
Arena you can’t change specs, and you can’t change gear once the gates go up. In BG’s you can change gear at anytime.
You can still get unlucky and take the queue after the game has started but it is better then missing the queue entirely.
Thanks for that clarification…
So you get stuck in your DPS gear… bad heals are better than no heals at all.
How many times have a Feral/Enchancement/Tank-Ret/Shadow spec’d toon been asked to heal in BGs.
If you can… do…
