I’m not an altaholic.
I have one main (Gnomeaggedon) and a few other toons on the side, most of which are gathering virtual cobwebs.
Admittedly Squidly is a little different and he may grow to challenge Gnomer for my time and affection.
Beyond that I have a bank alt and a maybe-one-day Lock twink. Going moldy on a couple of other servers are my old mains.
Geez I ramble don’t I?
There can only be one!
Anyway, what if WoW was like some other games where you could only have one character.
What if when you got tired of your T9 Warlock you had to type DELETE so you could reroll Mage just to see what all the hype was about?
Played Horde for a couple of years, want an Alliance experience… Goodbye Horde.
What if a week later you realized that human males really do run like girls and wanted that brawny Orc back?
- Would you cope?
- Would you throw tour hands up in despair?
- Would you roll a Mage and stick with it knowing that there could be no better choice?

oh noes
my bank alts, whatever will I do without them >_>;

HA! — that, my dear gnome, is what i basically HAVE done!
although, i’m quite at odds about what to do when the worgen come out. no other class appeals to me, so i might level a magey worgen… unless they introduce a *new* class that appeals to me…
I’d die. I roll a new alt weekly. Most of them are fated for the deletion queue eventually, but I roll a new alt every few days.
I kid not.
Wouldn’t be a problem for me, mage all the way!
Undead of course!
you know if DKs didnt get to start at level 55 I would never have bothered with them at all. One level capped toon has always been enough for me!
The biggest problem would be no bank alts!
Tbh, I wouldn’t pay for a game like that. Considering that I’m the customer and that the customer is always right… any game developer would be downright stupid not to take into account its customers’ wishy-washyness. (You say other games do that? Which ones?).
I can’t remember right now, but we are going way back. Games that would ask for your name, rather than a characters name. Games where this was all well and good until you mate wanted to play the game etc.
I agree with Sara. If I were allowed only one character, I probably would have had fun with the game for the first month or so, but would have quit paying for it after that (and this is coming from someone who’s only been playing for a few months!). I really love trying out other classes, both for the novelty of it and also to help me understand WoW-group dynamics better. It’s also fun to jump on lowbie alts to run around with friends who are still leveling. I love my mage main, but if he were the only character I was allowed to play, I’d probably get burnt out and log on less frequently over time, to the point where I might eventually decide that the game wasn’t worth paying a monthly subscription for.
I’d still be playing a rogue. And I’d be crying. Or not playing at all. I wouldn’t have rerolled cause I’m stubborn like that.
I would level one character to max level and then quit the game. I get bored playing the same toon day in and day out. That is the main reason why I can only play most single player RPG’s once. It is also the reason I have so many high level toons.
Holy cow, man. I’m sitting here at work right this moment watching a Cranius video and contemplating rolling a new human DK on a pvp server just to see what it’s like. I even have the realm and guild picked out. >.<
I've had three different mains since Wrath came out. I have 9 toons on each faction with a slot saved on each for a goblin and a worgen. I … I … geesh. I mean seriously, if I could only keep one, it would be a mage, but ….
I wouldn’t play. Especially with all the re-balancing that Blizzard keeps doing. It’s not that I’m flavor of the month or anything, but if I had chosen a Retpal back in the vanilla days, and tried levelling, only to find out they *were* essentially worthless, it would have been crushing. Then to find they’ve been upped, nerfed to the ground/etc.
Also, I’m too ADD to play only one toon.
Heck I just created a bank/guild toon the other day. (she’s, named Berniemadoff, guild name Ponzi Scheme. It’s a Rogue of course
)
Short story longer: it’s the variety that keeps me from quitting. (and I’ve been playing less than a year)
Well, looks like I touched a raw nerve here… most people wouldn’t play if they had to leave their alts at home.
I still have only 1 max level character. I still love playing my Mage. All my “alts” were created to hold stuff for my Mage, or make stuff for my Mage
Ahh Mage love…
Or is that Love at 1st mage…
I’d have multiple accounts >.>
Money bags!
