I dare say you already know my opinion on the Alterac Valley battleground. Just in case you don’t…
I LOVE IT!
OK, sometimes I hate it, generally when we lose, but generally I love it, win or lose.
Last night, wife gone out partying, Odin tucked in bed, Daddy…
Daddy was having an orgy of AV healing ecstasy!
Alliance 3, Horde 1, or was that Horde 3, Alliance 0
- Some say a fast game is a good game.
- Others suggest a close game is a good game
- Others of course think that the only game worth playing is a ROLFSTOMPYOUMFTOOLSINTOTHEGROUND game.
Last night my tally of Alterac Valley games went:
3 Wins: 1 Loss
3 x ROLFSTOMPYOUMFTOOLSINTOTHEGROUND games, one of which scored me the daily BG quest.
1 x OMFG we lost… but hell was it worth it games!
When the Short and Curlies slip through your fingers
We had the Horde by their fiery balls all game… The only issue we had was, that there were turtles, and not of the variety that Gnomeaggedon likes.
Now I have to give the Horde on the Blooldlust Battlegroup huge props for this win (and of course the Alliance for giving it their all too!). There were scores of folk leaving the battleground early on, but in the end, the Horde got their act together and took us down. Alliance may have been leading on heals, but Horde were winning on Healer kills.
The last 30 reinforcements for both sides went down one by one.
- One for the Horde
- One for the Alliance
- One for the Horde
- One for the Alliance
I loved the XP and credits for the 1st 3 games…
I loved the last game, the defeat, purely for the game itself… it was an awesome display of damage control
Damage Control
Speaking of damage control, I never in my wildest dreams expected to see this before level 80.
Gnomeaggedon fluked it 80 while doing the Argent Tournament daily outside the gates… maybe I was flagged for PvP after a WG, maybe it’s considered a PvP zone, but I really thought it was cheating.
Squidly did this all on his own!
When I mentioned the achievement in Guild chat and how surprised I was, one of my guildies tried to tell me it had nothing to do with my individual effort, it was all about how everyone in the battleground was doing.
I beg to differ, and here I present exhibit A for the defense (or heals as the case may be)
Rounding off a good night
So AV was definitely the highlight of the night, but it wasn’t the only thing I got up to.
My Tank de jour came on line while I was queuing for the last AV and we went for a romp through Underbog. A relatively uneventful run, I let a couple of people die, cause I’m like that, but no wipes.
I did get to pop mid-battle and make a difference. That OP hunter and his bear pet took a distinct dislike to my cheery disposition, so whenever they ice blocked and aimed shot someone… it was me.
I like to think it’s because they can detect my soul link with Gnomeaggedon, and I haven’t been able to shed all that aggro yet.
Still… heal, heal, heal, die, pop, heal, heal WIN!
Gotta love it!
Gnomer and Out, Squidly and Stout
PS: Yes, Shameless. I am STILL Shameless… Sylus wants you to know about his blog (as opposed to ForTheHorde), so I am shamelessly plugging on the basis that no one else has…

I’ve been following your blog for a while (great stuff!), and I’m finally de-lurking to say, “Hey, I’m in the Bloodlust battlegroup!” I don’t do a ton of BGs, but I do love me some AV. My Hordies will keep an eye out for you next time they’re running through the Field of Strife.
Hey Roz,
thanks for coming out of the lurker’s closet, it’s great to hear from you.
I can’t wait to see the say that I am surrounded by Horde led by you or your friends, to have you all bow down and receive the blessing of the Ancestors from my (Squidly’s) hands… or mmm maybe the Pyroblast from Gnomeaggedon’s hands…
No offense or anything
That would make a screenshot worth showing! (Squidly being received by the Horde that is… I would never want to boast about Gnome roasting sitting ducks…)
Oh look! It’s another Roz! hai Roz!
Disclaimer: the Roz above and the Roz that I am, are not the same. :p
No, you are a lurker of a completely different kind…
Oh noez! Squidly is getting a horde group to ambush him!
Run little Squidly! RUN!
WHAT! Ohh Nooooo!
I dream (a Draenei has to dream), that when that day comes that we cross paths in the BG, that someone will lay down a picnic umbrella (sure sign of peace) and both sides can call a 5 minute armistice.
Sure blood needs to be spilled… but that screenshot would be worth it’s weight in Sylus’ Slashdance card
PS: Yes, Shameless. Another Shameless plug… Sylus wants you to know about his blog (as opposed to ForTheHorde), so I am shamelessly plugging on the basis that no one else has…
You rock little guy!
Sy .. /sigh
I still love you, man, but geez. :p
Are you in the 40 bracket yet? Get to it! My warrior is ready to .. uh … shield slam? thunderstomp? what the heck do warriors do, anyway? I haven’t played him in so long. >.>
Maybe I should bring the priest instead. You wants sum shadow healz?
40′s?
Squidly dinged 66 in EoTS
What can a level 40 warrior do? Heaps… The landscape of the BGs has changed a lot. For every lvl 40 warrior you bring, there will be a lvl 40 something else on the other side.
If you find a healer and play body guard you will have infinite health and plenty of targets.
You can still flag carry or harry the casters. The brackets are much more forgiving now.
As for your SP… they still make them?
If you are 40, go get dual spec, otherwise just run non-shadow in the BGs. Your heals may be weaker, but you may still be 100% of the healing.
At a guess, BGs have now given me 10 of those 66 levels, nice caster bracers (still better than most 16 levels later) and a beautiful black battlestrider.
Well, this is a spriest that hasn’t been played since … since Wrath came out. haha! It’s probably been even longer since I actually played the warrior. But Sylus up there is tearing around on his hunter and I figured one or both of them could spend some time doing BGs with him. Shadow is for leveling, he’s destined to learn disc seeing as how I know two super awesome disc priests who can teach me how to not suck. Hmm..and the priest just got the heirloom gear handed down to him since Karius no longer needs it.
