Madness I tell you, MADNESS!
Squidly is power-leveling.
- Not using questing guides.
- Not chain running instances.
- Not rounding up the mobs and AoEing them down.
No I am power leveling through PvP!
20% of a level for one AV!
Hell yeah!
Throw in a daily BG quest, the AV quests and the AB quest and it is just too easy.
I normally knock up 30%-50% of a level in a questing session. Maybe a little more if I manage to do a couple of instances.
This weekend I did 7 levels… 7!
Four of those on Friday night alone, even with a couple of distracting (fail) instances.
I’m not 100% on the XP gain per BG, but I seem to be picking up 1-5% per BG loss, and 10-20% per win.
AV will give me 20% and the AV BG daily another 10%
There are some downsides.
- Pure PvP won’t reward you with PvE gear – you may need to spend gold, or do some instances and quests.
- A bad string of BGs will award little XP – but hot enough under the collar to spread the pain.
- No income – one PvP daily (if you are lucky) don’t fill the vaults.
- The items for purchase with honor and marks are spaced 10 levels apart (and you wouldn’t buy level 60 or 70 gear)
On a positive note
- You will get access to the PvP gear which you can replace every 10 levels – good in early leveling
- There is also more than just armor and weapons, for instance I picked up my Black Battlestrider, something Gnomeaggedon always dreamed of, but passed on for the TBC PvP gear.
- The best part being Squidly got to trade in goat legs and annoyingly oversized elephant mount for a pair of chicken legs and the ability to get through doorways and around obstacles.
Mitigating the loosing streak.
Warsong Gulch
At early levels you are stuck with WSG.
If you are in a winning team, sign up for WSG the second you leave the BG, in the hope you will get the majorty of the same crew.
Loosing side, go make a coffee and queue a couple of minutes later.
Arathi Basin
Once you get a little higher you can queue for both WSG & AB.
If you find one BG is rocking, stick with that. If not chop and change.
Take note of your team mate’s names.
If you are in a BG with winners, hang around… Loosers, take the next exit option (the other BG queue if it pops, or worst case grab a deserters buff… No BGs for you for a little while.)
Of course you could just stick it out and be happy with your one BG mark… Even better, try to turn it around.
Alterac Valley
When you get to level 51, you are eligible for AV. Now the XP will start raining down.
The important thing to remember is you aren’t here to honor farm, you are here to XP farm. The best way to earn XP in BGs is to complete the objectives and for insane amounts of XP you want to win the BG.
Don’t Goof Off!
Don’t goof off and make sure everyone else is on the XP rather than Honor Juggernaut.
Ohhh as an added bonus, not only will the XP, honor and marks flow, but the achievements will rain down as well!
All through the power of healing… I love being a healer!

why-quest-grind-or-instance-when-you-can-pvp/

and as of 3.2.2 heirloom item xp bonuses apply ! – Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I shall be camping AV for like forever.
Ohh Heirlooms…
I hit level 58 today… with 360 xp to spare…
Thank you heirlooms!
Yep, my lvl 49 hunter have to get a couple of lvles and get into AV!
only if DKs weren’t so OPed, 51-60 AVs will be much better.
Urrrghh DK’s…
I had forgotten all about them until my 1st WSG at 50… then I was reminded.. violently.
I’m lucky I am playing Resto, as the early stages of the brackets mean nothing to me… I can still heal.
That said, with the twinks gone even low levels have opponents
I know people were worried when Blizzard made it possible to queue from BGs anywhere and then again when they introduced exp into them but personally I think it’s one of the best moves they’ve ever made. It really adds a whole new dimension to the game. PvPing is great fun and earning exp from it is fantastic.
I agree.. and taking the Twinks out means that having a spread of levels from lowest to highest is now relatively viable… there is usually a target for everyone
When I first heard about this, I was MAJROLY jazzed! Then reality set in…
I play a Drae Retpaladin on Velen. In the last 25-30 BGs I’ve done, I have been on a winning team ONCE. That’s playing Warson, Arathi and now Alterac (yes, the Alliance lost on Alterac)
Kudos to anyone willing to slog through that type of pain and keep on doing it. (especially since you do NOT get exp for losing Warsong Gulch – not sure about Arathi Basin)
My last venture into a BG was in Warsong as a level 62 Pally. On my team of 12, I was 3rd highest honor, 2nd highest in DPS, 2nd highest healing and tied for 3rd in killing blows. In a 60-69 BG, I was a lowly 62, and I was still one of the top players. (and I’m not very good at PvP…)
I will say that I *LOVE* that most of the twinks are gone from the BG genpop, but I fear that with the concurrent faction switch, my server tilted more Horde.
So, for those that have a balanced server (or are on the “better” side) doing BGs for honor, marks and now exp is a GREAT addition. But if your server is a wee bit lopsided against your faction, it can be an exercise in frustration.
Hey SlikRX.
You are 100% right, if the BGs aren’t with you, then they are definitely against your XP grind.
At least now they wont start until both teams are full… nothing worse that waiting with 5 members and the opposition has 10-15-40 – because you already know the result.
I guess I had the extra motivation of wanting 30 or each mark for my hot new Battlestrider… Ohh how much I love it!
Still, I ended up with a lot more AV marks than the others.. the XP was too good to refuse.
I just had to tell you I had one of those nights last night…
EotS was the daily, and the BG was popping up every 5 minutes… because the Horde were steamrolling every group that entered, even when the Alliance tried to play intelligently.. it was no use…
Tried AV… steamrolled…
Tried AB… steamrolled…
Tried WSG… steamrolled…
I gave up after a couple of hours, part of the art of warcraft is knowing when to fight… and when to retreat.
Logged on quickly this morning to knock over the daily… I saw a steamroller coming right at me… but to give the Alliance team credit, they listened and even though we never managed to hold more than 2 towers, we did manage to restrict Horde to only one active tower for long enough…
It was close, one of the closest EotS I have played…
Well played Blootlust Alliance!
PS: I also solo’d a rogue… as Resto… poor little bugger.. my health kept going up, while my totem and his health kept going down…
