Stuff happened.
I wasn’t there.
I haven’t even read about yet because I have been housecleaning.
Literally and Blog Feederly.
Yep I’ve been casting living bomb indiscriminately on most (but not all) of the feeds in my reader.
A month down the track, the approximately 2000 posts was too much for me. 260+ Mage posts is daunting enough!
I’ve also spent the last week and a half cleaning up my Mum’s house. 3 skips, multiple Op Shop trips and 2.5 truck loads later, Mum’s house is empty. My house on the other hand has 3 unusable rooms, a garage and a front porch packed to the rafters.
Anyway, just cause I am ignorant doesn’t mean I can’t comment…
Goblinaggedon?
Fikkle suggests that the time might be right from a transfer to Ashes of Tirisfal as a Goblin…
A Goblin?
Sounds good… But then Syrana will be chasing me around with her soulstones trying to enslave me…
Goblins look way too much like Imps!
Mind you I would prefer Squidly as a Worgan Shaman…
Will they have those?
Taking back Gnomeragan!
After the few runs I have had with Squidly through that convoluted mess of leaky pipes, I am inclined to let the Troggs keep it.
However, if there was a little twist I might be persuaded.
The Gnomeragan Twist
If when you retook it, it remained taken (at least for 24 hours) and those adventurers that took it could use it as another active living city…
Maybe…
New Vendors, maybe even player housing. It all yours until you leave the building.
Imagine having to retake your city every day just so you could rest your head on your own pillow!
Gnomeaggedon takes it easy
Speaking of pillows, I had to hit the sack early on Friday as I knew I would be moving day and night over the weekend.
So apart from a quick run of ToC, Gnomeaggedon had the week off. He did pick up a new pair of boots, but I haven’t even had the chance to equip them yet.
Squidly joins the Monastery
As I knew I was going to have to bail on my mates I stepped down and played the Squid instead.
After playing a squishy DPS only Mage for so long I am really enjoying the OP Shaman.
I joined up with a Hunter at one point for a kill quest. We were taking on 10 odd mobs at once… Chain lightening, heals and totems mixed with his kiting practice made short and easy work of those mobs.
I also got another run of a couple of wings of Scarlet Monastery. One of the other party members and I made it clear that although we were prepared to be boosted, it was only as a last resort.
For me, Squidly is about the journey, not the destination. 80 can wait, the joy of running the old world instances with a balanced party is what it’s all about.
We picked up a level 30 Paladin, who hadn’t played for 2 years, that was in LFG as a dps, for our tank. We were getting desperate, but it was worth taking the chance.
2 AoE crazy Mages,, the Pally tank, someone else (I don’t remember…) and me on heals. One of the Mages did a fair bit of tanking, he knew how to pull aggro, but he also managed to pull it off… Must have been the heals!
Only one silly wipe when Herrod was whirlwinding and we all stood around and took the hits till we could take them no more.
It’s not just WoLK, it’s WoW
I know it been discussed before, but the content is easier now… No not just WoLK, but everything.
- Maybe the instances have been dumbed down (less Elites?)
- Maybe the changes to the talents and their trees mean we are more potent.
- Maybe it’s just that generally the people you encounter in the Old world are experienced players taking an alt for a run (I assume that the level 80 noob puggers are fighting over emblems and epics).
Whatever the case, all the people I have pugged with Squidly have been friendly, competent and patient.
Well, nearly always patient…
There was 5 minute on Friday night where my wife called needing info. I told the party to wait cause the healer was AFK. While I talked to my wife, looked up train timetables and responded to her, they keep on moving…
Did I tell you Shamans were OP? Somehow I kept the alive… Healbot FTW!
Moving and Stalling
Anyway, Squidly’s 38.5, Gnomeaggedon is still level 80, and sliding behind on the gear due to lack of playtime. I’m flat out at home and work.
But I’m still here, wishing I was writing more, but until I can remember my own personal Mirror Image keybind, you will have to bare with my GCD.
Ohhh hey, How about the Wildman stumbling across my post about Space Crusade! True to his word, he has scheduled another night… I may not make it, but you got to love his enthusiasm!
Gnomer and Out!

Well, at least you haven’t cast a living bomb on your account yet. Good to hear from you Gnome!
And yeah, it’s strange how easy the old world is. When I level my druid I ask myself if it’s because of heirloom gear, nerfed mobs or the fact that I have more general experience of the game. Probably it’s a combination.
Those hellfire boars don’t scare me the way they used to once upon a time when I was a young and innocent pigtailed mage.
No living bomb on my account… it’s one of the few things keeping me sane lately, even my wife has been encouraging me to play (although with a house full of crap, that may slow down a little now).
I think it is a combination… I know even back before WoLK… actually, it was before TBC, when I 1st rolled Gnomeaggedon, I was surprised at how little I was dying, even though I was squishy…
But of course I had paid my dues on my Hunter and Druid.. I knew when & how to engage in combat… and most importantly I knew when to run.
yay, thank you for checking in. glad to hear you’re doing well. we’re still here!
no, on to the matter at hand:
you can NOT convince me that you don’t want to retake gnomeregan! you are a GNOME, man! it’s in your blood! it’s all you and your kin talk about! “FOR GNOMEREGAN!”… you’re seeing the place now in it’s trogg-slogged worst. imagine if the gnomes had time to come in and spiff up the place. it could be awesome.
Hey Prelimar,
I am always keeping an eye on the Home of the Gnome, but I haven’t had much in the time to post or even reply… The blog has been great for feeling supported over the last month.
I guess *IF* the Gnomes polish the chrome and add a few more lifts and teleporters I will head back home… but you know, those Dwarfs have been mighty kind to me… and they have the best booze in Azeroth!
Well I have a side project, a pally I started from scratch, no gold, no bag, no nutting. I got him to 48 so far. I say it’s alot easier, cause a mage is hard to level we so squishy.
Pallies are just OP I think. When I’m downing a 21 elite, at 21, man that’s insane.
I think it’s easier cause A> We know what were doing now B> Gear is in abundance now C> Talents are so much more powerful.
I had a pally once… now he is just a banker…
I found by level 10 I couldn’t get hurt… which got a little boring.
I think A & B are spot on, especially the gearing…
Spirit… trash..
Of the whale… vendor…
Spell Power… mmm feed me…
Talents of course are the other variable. I think Blizz has spent a bit of time taking talents that were in higher tiers and made them available sooner…
lol, mark all as read.
hat pretty much sums up my same ‘staying on top of’ the blizzcon news flood tactics.
<3
I bet you had the same issues when you moved back to the US… it doesn’t take long for the read reader to fill… weekends are bad enough.
I have been trying to keep blizzcon stuff… but after listening to 3 podcasts on the stuff (OK, maybe 20% of each.. then I just marked them as listened), I dare say I will be fireblasting individual blizzcon posts pretty soon.
Apart from anything else I need the time to follow Krizzlybear’s world journey.
[...] OK, this is about as in-depth an analysis of 3.3 as I gave of Blizzcon. The thing is I didn’t make it to [...]
