DECURZ ME PLZ!
Yep, even this Gnome cops the healer’s bane occasionally.
This was heard during our Friday run.
I felt guilty for a second or two, then I realized I was decursing as fast as I could.
As I piped up in Vent assuring the decurses were being dished out, another voice, that of Mr. Gloom called out that he too was decursing as fast as possible.
Needless to say, my long past healing memories snapped into gear and Mr. Decurz Plz dropped to the bottom of my decursing priority list.
My normally faceless raid frames developed once face, one that cackles manically in sync with me every time it glowed purple.
Yes, I nearly crossed over to the dark side, I nearly let the joy of a Lock’s experience with curses show through… Nearly…
Still, it raised an interesting thought for me. I have become lax at decursing for a couple of reasons.
- There aren’t many fights in Naxx where I fear the odd curse, I know that’s slack, but I think of it as a hard mode.
- Running with 2 Tree Druids has meant that it is a rare day that I beat them to the curse, so why stop the pew pew for a curse shoo shoo?
Now I know Healers have a priority list which usually goes something like Tank, Heals, Top DPS -> Bottom DPS. Battle Rez usually have the same priority.
This does make it hard for me as the lowest DPS. I do my job fine, but surrounded by Naxx25 and Ulduar geared mates, it’s hard for me to make a good impression. Still, when there are only 3 DPS I’m in with a good chance.
How about you as Mages though?
Do you have a decurse priority list? I know it’s important (decursing that is) for some of you, but what about the rest…
Do you think along these lines…
Ohh curses up… Mmm mid cast, a healer will get it.
Mmm healer didn’t get it… Nevermind, it will drop off before this cast (or the next one) is complete.
Do you look after your healer’s, your tanks, but screw the DPS? Do you decurse yourself and ignore the rest?
Gnomer and Out!

Decurse -
Me, tank, healers, any DPS that can’t decurse themselves, lazy-ass mages that won’t decurse themselves
Ha!
I can’t decurse decursers… That would be like being the scorch biatch for a bunch of fire mages… Share in the dps drain!

OK.
I fluctuate. On the bosses i tend to err on the side of caution. Everywhere else I like to see how high the debuff has remained on a player
There are some fights in Naxx where all I used to do is decurse and cure poison. At first i thought others were just slack. So i wound it back to the tanks. Then I realised that its probably just as easy to heal through the poison with HoTs and most of the curses would be put to shame by a Emo who recently read Wicca for dummies.
These days I only tend to do it secondary to what ever else is happening and still end up with top decurses.
There’s only a few fights you truly need to worry about, the rest is just UI wack-a-mole practice.
Now I’ve hung up the tree and brung out the chicken I will decurse selectively
- Does curse reduce DPS
- No …..decurse tank and healers
- yes …..decurse myself and hopefully climb the charts
I hate saying wolk is easy mode. But the poison and curse in Naxx is a joke….
WHAT? your not decursing me?
No wonder you are challenging me on the meters in Tree form!

I usually forget that I can decurse at all. ^_^;;;
But my list is usually healer (’cause he loves me in all my fiery glory), me, tank, DPS I’m in the same irl room as, then whomever I can remember to decurse.
Heroics are more of an issue. With my Holy Pally, I can sometimes struggle to keep healing and cleansing people in 5 mans; much more so than in a 25 man. Heroic ZulDrak poison spam, for example, or those dead ant guys in Azgolunoob or whatever!
Ok, it isn’t curses, but the principle is the same.
Priority:
Number 1 is the tank (with a Warlock as my main, I consider the tank to be a Voidwalker of sorts! It’s my personal meatshield, see?)
Second is me, of course, dur.
Third is the riffraff (dps) includes mages (just).
Last is pets, especially hunter pets – they can die; cute Warlock slaves..er pets should be kept alive if possible!
Funny… I never decurse Locks… Those that live by the curse can die by the curse

I decurse everyone. – I’m using Decursive, so it’s just a one-click thing. There are (were, I guess, since we don’t run Naxx anymore in my guild) times when I can pop out 50+ decurses on Sapph – I almost shut EVERYONE else out of decurses once
No real priority list, though. I basically go from group 1 to group 5. That said, situationally I will have a short prio list – if the curse is a healing debuff like the one in Spider Wing trash, I’ll throw quick decurses on the tanks and ignore everyone else.
Yeah, I often look after tanks and myself alone. Attuman was a good example of this.
Tanks need to hit to keep aggro, and I need to hit to do damage. By the time the 3 of us are decurses the curses will ne dropping off anyway.

I set up my priority list with Tanks then Healers. After that, it’s pot luck for whoever I click first. The only exception if someone pissed me off, I create my list and make sure they are at the bottom.
I will say. . .I always forget pets
Pets? They have pets now?
I don’t see a pet toolbar!

I wouldn’t know about decursing, obviously, but as a healer, (and a pally one, so including cleansing) my prority list is:
me – tank – high dps – low dps – douchebags.
Yes, Im guild of letting a douchebag die in the odd PuG now and again. I know it’d bad, but…
it’s called and MMO for a reason people. If you doin’t want to be social, good luck surviving in my PuGs!
Douchebags get no love from me either… Neither do tanks that let me tank or healers that let me pot
Of course that’s a vicious cycle
