I (we, my wife and I) must be doing something right. Not just an offer to help with the daily chores, but a polite one. I guess I should appreciate it while it lasts… I dare say as he gets older both the offer of assistance and the politeness will dry up.
One week shy of 3 years old, and my little one is shaping up just fine.
- He helps with the dishes
- He wants to cook… One of his favorite things is rolling out the roti.
- He’s toilet trained, past the bribery stage, and wants to do it all himself.
- He not just wants to go to bed, but virtually insists on doing it all himself… Even wants to “read” the book to himself.
What more can a proud Dad ask for.
- Grinding mobs?
- Farming ore and herbs?
- Doing the AH grind?
Maybe I’m asking a bit much.
After all, the dishes are done like a WSG PuG. Duties are handed out…
You rinse honey.
No Daddy I want the bubbles!
Progress is similar to WSG too.
Time to move onto the next dish honey.
No Daddy! I need to wash this dish 100 more times.
(mid-field honor farming anyone?)
Still, there is some hope. I was reading on WoW.com about getting 3 year olds to play. Maybe now is the right time to introduce him to all those bits of WoW I feel tiresome.
Maybe he can hang out in a starting area and challenge people to duels.
PS: Text message just recieved from my wife:
At Odin’s insistence, I have sewed him a tiny apron with a pink banana, blue and purple carrots and green potato- so he can now help dad do the dishes. Sigh. Motherhood.

a friend of mine, who had childern WAY before I did (mine’s 10 months old, his oldest is… perhaps 7 at this point) told me one day over beers ‘i can’t wait for that fucker to grow up and start doing dishes’.
It suddenly became so crystal clear.
Parenthood.
FTW.
Hope you didn’t have as much trouble getting the beers as you did recently…
How has the move treated you?
Hm…. Whats the age requirement for a gold farmer? You could make some money with this kid
Age requirements?
I thought it was Gph… Gold Per Hour
Hey! One of my coworkers has sons named Thor and Titan. We should get them and Odin together so they can hang out or something.
Ohh lordy no… put all the old gods in one room and it is bound to end in tears
Oh dear. Adorable to the max.
Thank you, random blog search.
I 2nd that… thankyou random blog search!

Your wife is win. You are a lucky gnome. ~_^
My wife is win.. I am a lucky Gnome.. very lucky!
That’s pretty independent for a 3 year old. I think I started reading to myself when I was 9.
Yeah well his reading, is picking out the pictures of interest and building his own story around it… or quoting back the memorized story line.
Don’t ever try to skip a word, phrase, or worse yet, “rewrite” a beloved story with a 3 year old…
If you do, the original will be quoted back at you, word for word, grammatical mistakes corrected.
Haha, I have a friend who lets his 4-year-old level his characters’ fishing for him. Apparently the 4-year-old really enjoys that.
Wish I could find someone to level my mage’s fishing for me, xD
“No Daddy I want the bubbles!” – adorable.
Funny you should say that… I was wondering to myself whether he was ready to farm fish for me…
Might have to work on those mouse skills…
I have one boy that comes only occasionally over the summer for daycare and I got his mom’s permission to do a little warcraft play. He had no knowledge of online games especially MMO. It appeared his favorite thing to do was the emotes…/dance /fart /train …he found the human male dance hysterical.
I agree there is definately alot of education in the game with completing tasks, rewards, achievements that parallel to real life.
It is especially benefical when you play with your child in completing tasks and as a parent you get some tips on better communication skills, how to present the information to them for an understanding at whatever age group they are etc.
Its awesome.
