Alright, final installment (2 weeks down the track) of Blogday gifts, where I asked for:
Gnome weekend that was
I bore you with my weekends adventures… Now it’s your turn!
Go on, tell me. No topic is too big, or two small. Your level 12 Alt is just as important to me as your T8 raid slayer.
I got 3 responses to this question and one which while not on this topic, it was really a Gnomeshots, was told in such a way that I had to include it here instead… it wasn’t just GnomeShots, it was much much more… the March of the Wonder Gnomes…
Thanks to Larisa, Prelimar, theerivs and Cathy for giving me their “Gnome” weekend that was.
Larisa Writes:
Sometimes things don’t go quite as you want to. Last weekend was once of those occasions.
Friday night ended up without any playing whatsoever since the login servers were broken. Well, at least I got a decent amount of sleep for a change.
Saturday night I ended up in a failed Ulduar 10 man raid. We knew from the beginning that our chances were small with a strange setup that included offspecs and alts. We downed a boss, wiped a few times on another one and then decided to call it.
I went to ZD Arena and helped out a game friend to complete the quests. It was fun but lasted only 10 minutes or so.
And after that I couldn’t come up with anything fun to do on my mage, so I went questing with my little alt druid, while spending a couple of midnight hours in the LFG channel.
It was all in vain.
It seems that people don’t do the old world instances properly anymore.
Eventually I gave in and accepted the offers from the same friend that I had helped in ZD. He boosted me through Stockades and Gnomeaggedon (edit: I am sure Larisa meant Gnomeregan), where my biggest challenge was to keep up with his pace looting the corpses from quest items while managing my bags. It gave me a ton of XP with all the quests I could turn in later, but I wondered a bit worried if I’d ever be able to learn how to play my mage (edit: I know Larisa knows how to play her Mage… maybe she isn’t so sure about her OP Druid).
And that’s about it. I didn’t get into the Sunday night raid, since it was about time that I spent a night with my family. Not much of a WoW weekend to remember, more like “meh”, far from the glorious adventures of Gnomeaggedon, but all weekends can’t be epic, can they?
I should add though, I got a beautiful upgrade, Sash of Ancient power, since I had won the exclusive orbs in a guild auction a few nights earlier, gathered the mats and now successfully managed to contact one of the few people on my realm who can craft it. It’s a best-in slot item, apart from some belt that you only can get by doing exclusive hard modes so I expect to keep it for long.
That certainly brightened up my day!
Larisa and Out!
GnomeResponse:
Looked pretty epic to me… we all have /fail nights, it’s all about how you reccover from them.
- Some wipe and wipe again,
- Some face reality and find something else to do.
While a night of consistent raiding can be a rewarding experience, sometimes it’s the “bitza” (bits of this, bits of that), that bring joy. Whether you realize it or not right now, your OP Druid (your bitza on the side) is slowly but surely becoming your new dual spec!
theerivs Writes:
Well I ate some pie, did my dailies like a good WoWite, then just logged.
In real life, I got piss drunk…I don’t think I killed any gnomes.
Nope No Gnomes died last weekend.
theerivs and Out!
GnomeResponse:
The Gnome weekend that didn’t happen (or at least you didn’t make your weekend out of Gnome corpses)
Pie… none of this fancy smancy sweet pie I hope… More like the good ol’ Aussie meat pie (20% crust, 70% gravy, 5% rat, 5% real meat), served lukewarm!
I need more of the piss drunk in my WoW time… will work on that this weekend.

Older Content at Level 80 (A Cautionary Tale)
There once was a guild from Nazgrel
Who decided to run AQ Temple

“we’re 80s! what a lark!
— A walk through the park!”

But then they met Vek’nilash & Vek’lor.

They tried some more

and again to be sure

And decided that Naxx has a softer floor.
Prelimar and Out!
Prelimar adds:
I feel mine is definitely not up to the standards of your regular posts, but since this was my first time at this sort of thing, I guess I can cut myself a bit of slack, haha. I wanted to spin the story so it had some epic mage action, but sadly, I’m not really an epic mage (yet!), and I spent most of each of those battles lying on the floor.
GnomeResponse:
Whoah there… that was epic!
Not just an epic Old School spanking, but in prose rather than marathon Gnome essay.
I dare say when we hit AQ40 (in a month, maybe two), our experience will most likely be the same. If I get the chance I will fill you in on our BWL adventures from last week…
Cathy (Justamom here from Bleeding Hollow) writes:
What better way to honor our favorite Gnome blogger than to create some kin.
We began our journey with 6 new Gnomes..
Haappy, Blogday, Gnomeaggedon, Froom, Aculeus, Upon and Ordeum.

Stopping first for a photo shoot in our starting zone, we then made the trek on our Level 1 toons to Iron Forge. We fought together against dangerous creatures in brave Gnomeaggedon style to reach our destination. Every gnome protecting the other and defending ourselves from any hair damage.

Upon reaching Iron Forge, we formed the march that will go down in history as an Epic March of Gnomeness.
We marched proud in our Sunday best then paused to reflect upon all the clever, smart, funny blogs you have provided us with. People cheered and laughed as we made our way to the Forge, but we knew it had to be done as the message would self-destruct in 10 seconds.
And so, in courageous fashion, we threw ourselves into the lava of the Forge.
Death for us perhaps but a message that will live on forever.
Happy Blogday from friends and fellow bloggers at AUO on Bleeding Hollow.

Needless to say I was blown away by Cathy’s submission…
How she managed to avoid hair damage I will never know…
Did you 6 box this, use your awesome powers of graphic manipulation, rope in 5 guildies (bloggers)…. or have you found a use for all those bored children in your childcare?
Looks like your Gnome Farming Army is ready to roll… I wonder if you would be reported for farming if this mob was out and about…
PS: I would also like to thank Cathy for her attempts to join me on Aman’Thul for a photoshoot… What I had forgotten, is the majority of you are behind us Aussies (time zone wise at least), so My Friday night is your working day. Sorry I couldn’t swing a Saturday session Cathy!
What I have discovered since, and put to good use in my visit to Larisa, is that I am soooo far ahead of you folk, that if I log in on a Monday morning real early (I mean really, like 5am early), I can catch you folk while you have your Sunday session. We might just see another GnomeTransmute coming up over the next couple of weeks… I know it works, as I managed to surprise an all time favorite… just about synchronizing clocks in different time zones now…
What about Gnomeaggedon’s Gnome weekend that was?
Yeah, well, been a bit slack on that front… will see if I can knock something up tomorrow…

Thank you for the editiing/clarifications!
I had totally forgotten about that weekend report, it’s been a while since I wrote it. Clearly I must have written it in a rush. So sorry, you deserved better! Anyway – I’m glad you understood what I meant.
no worries.. you see that’s why I gave bloggers an exemption… didn’t want them under too much pressure..
I deserved no less, no more than what you gave… what I got was from your heart and within the constraints you already have… so don’t apologise.. I salute all of you that gave…
No I feel the pressure to (continue) to deserve such wonderful readers!
@ Cathy. A win of epic proportions!
/agreed
Cathy roped in and bribed 5 other guildies, myself included (I was Aculeus) to make gnomes. It was a great night and I had a fit of giggles just watching all the high levels in IF following us around as we paraded the message to all!
Happy Blogday again Gnomer! To many more!!
Ahhh Bre! Bre! Bre!
Thank you… but then I would expect nothing less from the GL of Awesomeness from the Guild of Awesomeness!
PS: I had a great time listening to this weeks TNB roundtable… It was a cack! Haven’t enjoyed it so much in ages…
Thank you & thank you again!
@ Cathy- That’s awesome, but I have nightmares now of a female gnome army coming to get me.
I didn’t know what to do laugh hysterically, or scream in terror.
lol.. a new Gnome Gnightmare to add to your list
these were fun to read. i’ve never had the nerve to try jumping into the Great Forge. is it really possible?
for the record, our guild hasn’t been back to AQ Temple, lol – our other similar experiences include the Sunwell Plateau and enough close-up views of the floors of the spider and plague sections of Naxx that we have decided we’re not ready for Naxx yet. (it’s hard being a casual guild!) – we’re *this close* to completing Obsidium Sanctum, though, so we feel pretty good about that.
Ouch…. You will get to read about my BWL outing this arvo.
GL with OS… and bang your head against Naxx.. it will happen as long as everyone is playing their game. As with all these things, once you do it once, it will become so much easier… not that it will be any easier, but mentally you will already have it in the bag.
Those were wonderful gifts!
Cathy – that was an incredibly awesome idea… and well orchestrated and captured!
Prelimar – your limerick was great
And I understand what you mean about being casual with a dash of raiding. *nodnod*
/agree once again… and let me tell you.. it hurts to agree with a Lock…
[...] Old World night and it was pretty much a flip of the coin… AQ40 or Black Wing Lair (BWL). Thanks to Prelimar, we knew it wasn’t going to be a cake walk, so really it just came down to which we thought [...]
We had a blast that night and absolutely plan to do it again. Many thanks to my guildies

Blogday=You (me – Cathy)
Gnomer=Beer (John)
From=Doom (Chris)
Aculeus=Arleen (Bre)
Upon=Shelia (Beer’s girl)

Seriously Gnomeaggedon, you make the game that much more enjoyable for us all:)
Now I must have a another scrub to get the nasty gnomeness off my skin. Smells like old people!
Mmmm to think you touched Gnomes with your filthy human hands
I serious thankyou to all that were involved… my eyes popped when I opened the attachments…
It would have been a fair bit of effort… let’s face it you would have lost an hour mesmerized by the gnomes on the character creation screen, let alone running them to IF….
