Last weekend I got to knock over Naxx25 with my guild, which was a great experience.
I started this weekend out knowing that I wasn’t up for anything as grand. I knew that I wasn’t going to be raiding with my guild for 2 reasons.
- I wasn’t going to really be available till late, as I was babysitting.
- I really wanted to give my time to my mates instead.
When I logged on I raced over to the Argent Tournament grounds and struggled to do anything… I mean anything. The quests may seem great to many, but all that lost flying time makes this casual raider a sad boy. On top of that the jousting isn’t going all that well for me.
I have decided that the whole charging thing is a bit too hard when I am 0.5-1 second behind the AI, so I am doing it the hard way with shield breakers and hand-to-hand. If I don’t get it right, the NPC opponent just laughs at me because I am taking too long.
Still, soon enough I will be a champion, and the Turbo Mechanostrider will be mine.
I got the call up to join our 10 man attempt at Naxx. The big question being whether to tackle the quarters that hadn’t previously been cleared, or go the normal way.
In the end, the Arachnid quarter was the 1st to fall.
Which brought up one more achievement for me.
Next stop was the Plague Quarter, once again, easy peasy.
While I was there I picked up this cool staff…
I love it, crazy little bat winged skull.

Anyway… we decided we would give the Military Quarter a go, not really expecting to clear it, but what the hey!
Yay… well that’s the end of a great weekend, 3 quarters of 10 man Naxx cleared. The boys were going to go back on Saturday, but as we all know, I never play Saturdays….

Yep, that’s right. I scored a leave pass to finish it all off..
Last quarter down, so that just leaves Sapp and KT, looks like I am going to clear 10 man Naxx the weekend after clearing 25 man Naxx.
Look out Sapp, here we come!

Not that I had to do anything special to meet the lack of Frost resistance gear requirement…
We hammered KT for a while then, but I think the closest we got was 40%.
Once again the guys were going back for one last go on Sunday night… but as we all know, I only play of Fridays!

Yep, I was back.. 3rd night in a row!
But I had a dilemma when I logged on.
As soon as I did, I was invited to 25 man Eye of Eternity, which was an even bigger dilemma considering I had picked this up on Saturday night…
But my commitment to my mates (and my desire to finish Naxx10) came 1st
Someone was polymorphing rabbits left right and center… Seriously, are you afraid of a DeathKnight when it is all white and fluffy like this? Who would be.
Actually this Death Knight had been suffering to my lucky rolls for the previous two nights… can you say 100 & 98 & 96?
He was smack talking me before the KT attempt… so I brought him down to my size with a little BabySpice.
Not my 1st use of Baby Spice mind you.. I actually used it on a bear riding Tauren in Dalaran.. no real reason, just felt like doing it. He got the surprise of his life.. I saw him riding up and down the streets with lots of exclamation marks over his head.
BTW, those of you that suffer from “I got a mammoth and I know how to plant it in the Dalaran fountain” problem… this is the solution… show the world how big their appendage really is.
Where was I…
Oh yeah… lying bleeding on the floor of KT’s room. I would like to say that in gaining this achievement I lived long enough to make a difference, but that would be a lie.
At this point I would like to show that UberHunter, that joined our raid group, the finger… my big fat middle finger.
He was with us for our 1st 2 attempts at KT.. from the moment he joined our raid he was dissing us.
- Complaining about group makeup
- Complaining about the existence of our Hunter Mate
- Slagging us off for any little error.
- Slagging ranged off for not taking down the Soul Weavers fast enough (Err Ummm… you are ranged…what the hell were you doing?)
After the 2nd attempt he declared we were full of fail, and that we should give up and go home. He thought it was a waste of his time.
Before I could type and post…

… to raid chat, he was kicked.
At which point he started laughing saying how he wasn’t going to leave the instance… and how he was going to return later with his mates and one-shot KT in a way we never would.
Turd!
Don’t know what your problem was, but even I with only 2 weeks of 80 under my belt, and 1/3 of your purples was doing more dps!

So in 2 weeks of raiding at 80, I have now cleared both Heroic 25 Man Naxx and 10 man Naxx.
I think the 10 man Naxx is all the sweeter because it was harder just relying on our 10 bodies, especially for me that had only seen the fights once before. The final struggles on KT just made it all the more worthwhile.
Ohh and the point of the title of this post was that overall, I came in 6th in damage, so at 1st assumption I am still not putting out the dps that is required (OK, I require of myself). Yet, for those fights that I survive, like the final KT fight, I am consistently in 2nd or 3rd position.
I just need to live long enough…
Is 2,000-ish dps OK for 10man Naxx doing FrostFire Bolts?
So after asking the question the other day, Is it better to raid with pugs, than not to raid at all?, the answer has to be yes.
After all, the Death Knight finally one a roll or two, and walked away with a T7 headpiece token, while the rest of us left with bags full of loot as well.

On a final note, what is the point of being an Ambassador of the Alliance, if you can’t even drop into the Horde Tent at the Tournament?

lol, I hadn’t quite gotten it in my head yet to try and stroll into the Alliance Tournament Tent, good to know what would have been in store for me! If I were in charge I would grant you amnesty – I’ll even overlook the fact that you’re *shudder* a gnome. /wink
I am amazed at how much you’ve gotten done in such a short period of time! Only on Fridays… I would go nuts.
Looks like you’ve gotten the timing squared away on the achievement screen shots. Which add are you using for that?
@Arioch: Yeah well, I am directionally challenged.. and those red flags mean nothing too me.
I mean.. I have sat on Thrall’s throne… while he was in front of me… so why can’t I go into your tent?
Yeah… I am not just compact of stature… I need to achieve as much as possible in a short period of time… of course, there are trade offs.. questing and exploring is on hold.
But it helps having a great guild, and patient mates as well.
The screenshot mod I am using right now is Print-Screen + Finger… PhotoOp seems to have died, not updated since Dec or Jan from memory… So I am taking them manually right now.
just had to say that your blog always makes me smile. i love seeing what i’m in for when i get to the stuff you’re doing, and the screen shots are always awesome (“having fun – wish you were here!”). the staff is DEFINITELY drool-worthy… some day, it will be mine!

Grats to a lovely weekend! I’m glad to hear that you could use your time so well now that you came around to play a bit more than you usually do.
About the tournament: yeah, I must admit that I’m not most skilled dueller in the world either. And there’s definitely a risk that I’ll spend insane time on doing that stuff because every time I lose I get so pissed off that I HAVE to do it again… It’s not about the pets. It’s about the honour! I think I’ve become a little bit better at it though. Eventually I guess it will just be another grind. But right now I’m occupied in the egg hunt like anyone else, so the duelling has been paused temporarily.

Nice, grats on the achievements and loot! I doubt Roz will ever see 25 man … oh wait. Ok, he fail-pugged the spider wing and Noth on Saturday, but the raid actually wiped on Heigan about 4 times before calling it quits. Seriously … on Heigan … where you can win even if it takes an hour as long as you have a tank and a healer alive. /sigh
Any tips on the jousting? I am sooo bad at it that I have only made it as far as Valiant with Juna and have not gone back. All those mounts and pets just waiting for me to come pull my hair out to get them …..
