Ages and ages ago, I made a post about my search for a Mage gear spreadsheet.
It has proven to be one of my most read posts, while also being one of my least commented posts.
I guess people are just using it for the links to the tools that I dismissed.
Anyway, now I am 80 the time has come for comparisons once again, so I have started looking about for tools again.
I started with WoWHeroes, CharDev and LootRank and their upgrade recommendations. These were OK, but really provided by WoWHead’s gear search. My biggest issue being that many of the items didn’t make sense. How is frost resistance gear an upgrade on dps gear?
This isn’t to say these tools aren’t good, in fact I would say that they are excellent… they just are’t what I am looking for.
Back to Rawr
I found myself revisiting Rawr over the weekend. I had a bit of time to play around, and play around I did.
My first impression was that the latest version is much improved on previous versions. Much faster and easier to use.
I particularly liked the export to spreadsheet option for the gear, which will make it much easier for me to do further analysis in a new spreadsheet, once I find the time to create it.
Probably the main thing I would change is that I would love the gear stats to be included in the csv export. As it stands now, I have the item name, gem and enchant options, even the item # that I will be able to turn into a link to wowhead from the csv, but it would still be nice if the stat info was includes in the csv on export.
One disappointed Rogue
The only real disappointment didn’t come from me, rather it came from my Rogue friend. He was so excited, downloaded it, imported his armory profile then started cursing. I couldn’t work out what his problem was until I realized he had a Warrior template. He finally admitted that Rogue wasn’t one of the classes included in Rawr.
He does have a Priest though, so he kept on playing, just with a different class.
