Zupa asked if things are as bad as they sound (or I write anyway). InspiredOgre had a bit of a dig at me about my QQ.
I even suggested that I was Q’ing to the power of Q, or as Rip would say, Qubed!
So I will turn it over to the people.
How you you rate WoLK?
On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being QQ and 5 being FTW!)
Same scale, different question…
How do you rate your enjoyment of your character (assuming Mage, but let’s stick with any non Death Knight)?
OK one more for good luck.
Did you abandon your old toon with the coming of WoLK?
Let’s inform Zupa, let him know whether he should rise from his grave, or just roll over.
One last point. I accept I do drop a bit of Q here and there. But just for the record, apart from an odd frustration here or there, I love yous guys… I mean the game (my Gnome, my Mage, my blog, but definitely not my Engineering Racial!).
But as Dylan Moran from Black Books said recently in an interview:
No one wants to hear your happy stories from your holiday, they want to hear about the disaster.
So I like to mix a bit of disaster into every post I write.
Gnomer and Out!

Disaster: Mages existing.
…
I joke! Really! No need for Pyroblast!!!! NO! NO FIRE!
AUGH!
FIRE EVERYWHERE, MY WORLD IS PAAAAIIIIIIIN!!
OMG HE’S BURNING! I’LL PUT HIM OUT!
BLIZZARD! OH WAIT BAD IDEA! CRITS EVERYWHERE! SORRRYYY!!
You wanna know the things I’m most concerned about?
hmm?
telling you anyhows!
Gold farming. I don’t want to have to farm gold in order to play the game properly. I don’t expect a handout but I don’t like the idea of having to work hard over a period of several weeks to get a mount or some such.
Not being that cool anymore. All this aoe everything all the time, no cc, no single target nuking, sounds pretty lame. What is it that differentiates a mage these days?
Aoe is fun and stuff but what about min maxing and figuring out spell rotations and things? Sounds like some cool mage stuff is missing.
Same same bigger numbers. Is there that much more on offer for my mage apart from some bigger yellow numbers above some hapless monster’s head?
and last and probably most scary of all… is a matter of time. I really enjoyed raiding, I think all the wow memories I can recall involve raiding, and a few battlegrounds. First kills are super fun with the guild, and I know if I start playing again it’s only a matter of time before i’ll be raiding again, and I can’t afford that level of time committment anymore.
Well maybe i could, but I probably shouldn’t!
On the up side, if I start playing again I will have plenty to blog about!
To truly, truly love your class and the game through the good and the bad, is where you are going to find the enjoyment… imo.
@Klinderas: You already got your’s on Twitter… I was running scared till the Magely Cavalry arrived… Yay for Argent Tournament & Kriz of course!
@Kriz: Thanks for coming to the rescue!
PS: Never be sorry for Crits… against the enemy anyway… Wasn’t like we were trying to subdue the ol’ SlowWolf or anything!
@zupa: Cash isn’t a problem, at least for things you “need”.
Things you may want however, can be a major cash sink.
I think I have blown 2,000 gold so far… Cold Weather Flying and… can’t remember what the other was.. maybe it’s only 1,000 gold.
Dailies are aplenty, so no shortage of cash.
Assuming you quest like me, you will only loose 3 zones of Quest gold to experience… then it all goes straight to the bank.
Sure if you want a Dalaran ring of teleportation (Why the hell would a Mage need that?), or a Chopper to ride about on, then you will need to get some coin together… but otherwise, don’t worry.
Blizzard has removed the effectiveness of a lot of consumables at end game just so you don’t have to farm them to be competitive.
One I just discovered was Wizard Oil apparently wont work on high end weapons… so that’s one less expense.
You are more likely to get suckered into the Achievement grind. Wont cost you $$ so much as time.
@Syrana: Agreed. In fact it occurs to me that it is human to QQ the small things in life without appreciating the good things we already have.
Simplest example being “kids” around a Christmas tree. You have 1/2 dozen great presents in your hands, yet you covert the present of another…
Zomgz, I got mentioned!
I have a mage! Can I join in!?
Joke I made up the other day.
Mages can rain ice and cold
Warlocks can rain fire and brimstone
Hunters can rain arrows.
Druids can rain lightning.
The people of westfall wanna know, “Who the frak do we talk to about getting some rain of RAIN around here!?!?!?”
[...] A raid with no drama is a boring story to relate as mentioned in Do we QQ till it’s Qubed? [...]
