Only 2 days of work left (or 1 depending on when you read this) and as we finalize our travel arrangements (booking Kerala for Xmas and New Year) I thought I would jump on and do a last look at my toons.
THD reminded me that 3.0.3 was out (shows you how much attention I am paying to WoW), so I was very excited to log in and confirm that Hallowed be my Gnome.
Not only hallowed, but apparently I have gained a mate, a shadow.
I have been careful in the last week not to post any auctions or send any mail. I couldn’t afford to have it expire whole I was away and end up in Blizzard’s dead letter box.
Dead Letters
On the subject of mail, do you know:
- Mail will remain in your mailbox (unread or read these days) for 28 days.
- At the end of the 28 days it will be returned to sender.
- If the sender is another player character, it will appear and remain in their mailbox for a further 28 days (but I don’t think it is returned again to sender after that).
- If the sender is a NPC (eg. The Auction House), after 28 days the mail gets returned to a sender that can’t return it, so it disappears into the void.
- I have heard (but not tested) that COD mail gets returned after 3 days.
So what, I hear you say?
Think of COD mail as your Auction House stock overflow release valve.
Send a 1 copper COD mail to one of your Alts, 3 days later, without logging onto that Alt, the item is back in your mailbox, ready for posting to the AH.
Remember, moral of the story is make sure all your mail is removed or forwarded within 28 days or you risk the loss.
Toon Review
So yeah I logged onto all my toons just to check there was no mail that might expire in the next couple of months.
I was kind of surprised how many toons I had littered across a lot of realms.
It appears I love Priests the least, as they never make into double figures (to be fair, I want to level a Priest, but they always end up being server downtime toons, that never get any further love) , but my least loved toon is my warrior.
Sure it made it to level 29, but not one step further. When I saw it last night, and realizing I never wanted to level it further, I thought it was well placed as a BG toon. Sure, not a twink, but ready for WSG and AB. Assuming Aurdon isn’t correct and BG XP is coming in the future. Which is specifically why I am opposed to BG XP.
That Gnome is toast
I ended the night trying to get a few more coins together for another Gnome ransom note for my Orc Shaman Nomesnatcha. Unfortunately the news hasn’t become public about the Gnome abduction, and with Xmas fast approaching, Nomesnatcha wants her Sprite Darter in a Pear Tree.
Anyway, in her quest to gather the coppers to send another ransom note, she went from level 2 to 6.
Observations:
I have played a Mage for too long. I am a lightning casting machine, and I need to /facepalm to remember I can now melée.
Anyway, money is earned, but I don’t think I will be sending a ransom note this side of Xmas, as I won’t be around to collect the booty that is due to Nomesnatcha.
Must say, I have enjoyed playing a Shaman, and revisiting the Orc starting zone after so long.
Gnomer and Out!

Congrats dude. I got everything done but the rare drops (and masks obviously) so I’ll be waiting around till next year I suppose to gain this title.
Yeah I really didn’t appreciate how lucky I was with the hat and the pet on the first kill.
I was starting to sweat the toothpicks… but before you know it, I was throwing them out (of all my toons) left right and center.
