Pumpkin Head and Pumpkin Pet
Unusually for me, I managed to experience a bit of an in-game event.
Yep, I ran a whole bunch of Hallows End events.
I would have liked to have done them on Friday night, but they didn’t become active until Saturday morning at 4am… not staying up for that I am afraid. Actually Friday was a complete drag… decided I didn’t want to run Kara for the 1000′th time, even if it can be 5 manned, thought I would work on my addons and maybe PvP for a bit… But I couldn’t get the battlemasters to talk to me… thought it was mods so went though a whole lot of stuffing around with them to read later that the battlegroup was down…
Anyway, Saturday night when I logged in and knocked back a run to MH & ZA, my mates got together to take down the Headless Horseman.
I have only seen the headless horseman once before, and I seem to remember it being a bit harder. Still it was fun, and I was loving blastwaving all the other mobs in the GY between attempts. Still it was a bit of an anticlimax compared to the other events.
WoWwiki has a nice rundown of the various Hallows End events and quests, highlights for me were:
At 4 hour intervals (12, 4, 8), the Headless Horseman will attack Kharanos, Goldshire, Azure Watch, Razor Hill, Brill, and Falconwing Square in the form of the Shade of Horseman.
This is fun, running back and forth to fill your water bucket, then putting out the files until the Headless Horseman arrives. Remember you can also fills the buckets of people closer to the fires, by just ensuring they are in your “AoE radius” when you throw your water… saves them running back to refill.
Fun was had by my rogue mate and I. The quest, yeah whatever… taking down the Horde when they ran into (and tried to run out of) Southshore… priceless. Especially nice chasing down those that tried to make it inside the Inn, and killing a few in the Southshore Graveyard (seems appropriate) as they tried to escape.
Disappointing in that there wasn’t any Horde opposition… There was even an Alliance Hunter, sitting flagged, dreaming of an encounter when we completed the quest.
All fun, especially when you have a Mage to port you from city to city… there is a great run down of the quest in the WoWhead comments.
Remember to plant Weighted Jack-o’-Lanterns on everyone you see for the Check Your Head achievement, so you can gain the achievement… I did most while fighting in Southshore.. bet those Hordies felt funny getting a Pumpkin head seconds before their death.
I managed to pick these two up while killing the Headless Horseman… made me a happy Gnome
Also, you get a “bonus/extra” chance to call the Headless Horseman if you have the quest The Headless Horseman, so it’s worth grabbing that one. It’s the only quest I have left, so hopefully I can knock that one over before the end of Hallows End… plenty of achievements left though… there are heaps!
And just to show how long it has been since I actually engaged in any Hallows End activities, and how dead I experienced them, I discovered when I logged onto a “long forgotten” previous main, that it was in bat form, gained from a Treat Bag. Now the thing is, that year (it was a couple of years ago) that was all I got from Hallows End… and there was still 50 minutes on the costume timer… so shows how much I have played that toon since the Hallows End 2-3 years ago.
Gnomer and Out!

You were lucky! Grats! Nice little toys you grabbed there.
I did this with my lvl 65 rogue (in party with some nice other players. We swiched between mains and alts doing it twice on every char, so in the end I think we did it some 20 times or so…. ) and was very glad to grab the ring as well as the sword. I can’t use any of it yet, but it’s great to having it waiting for me to put on once I reach 70.
The pet only dropped once and I passed since I knew that one of the other guys is a more dedicated pet collector than I am.
I had no idea how lucky I was until I read some other blogs yesterday (long after posting).. both the pet and the head rare drops… awesome
Guilty.. I don’t feel guilty…
