I don’t know what it is about WSG and long battles, it doesn’t make sense to me that the small map with 10 players could take longer than a long long map with 40 players like AV.
Mind you generally if you are in AV for 55 minutes it’s a long boring fight. No, not always, but usually you are dreaming of a quick pee to break the boring gridlock.
WSG on the other hand should be a quick 10 minute filler, but if they are longer, they are often the more enjoyable.
Last night I got both sorts of WSG, unfortunately both losses.
The 1st one was snappy. Only extended by the Horde pausing in their flag capping to grab some spare honor kills – quick and unfulfilling.
Probably summed up by one comment in BG chat:
What’s going on guys, 8 on D, 1 AFK, and 1 on O?
(Gnome was on O by his little Gnomeself)
The 2nd one was an epic struggle, no one scoring for ages, then we grabbed 2 hard contested flags (both defending our flag carrier and trying to take theirs down), followed by 3 hard contested caps by the Horde.
If I wasn’t having so much fun I would have rued the single token in the time I could have run 4-6 WSG.
Tip for our flag carrier in future, don’t stray too far from our flag room so you (and your defenders) can both defend our newly released flag and cap theirs on short order.
To that Horde Lock (whose name escapes me) I’m glad I finally took you down after all the slow deaths I suffered and your hands.
To Ghostwar, the Horde warrior, you got too much health, but I did enjoy chasing you down the battleground, in and out, and up and down your base… Times like that I wish I had more Frost in my arsnal… Are we getting multiple specs soon?
BTW, I was spurred on to hit the battlegrounds after reading Sonny‘s post at ArathiHighlander on level 70 starting PvP gear, which nicely fits in with my Life is Cheap (WSG, AV, AB) series, quick and east to pick up some starting PvP gear for the cost of an hour’s Sunwell dailies.
Oh Sonny, I think you have the wrong gear listed… The Satin set is Priest gear, us Mages are after Evoker’s Silk gear (which do do have correct in the set section)..
I had 3-4 PvP items prior to my shopping spree, so I picked up another few.
I recommend you have a read of Sonny’s post, and swap out your Spellfire and Spellstrike for a little blue PvP gear… It was a blast to be still standing after the majority of the contests.
A question for those of you that respec on a frequent basis…
How do you deal with your tool bars?
It frustrates me that I have to remember the setup of my toolbars and reconfigure them after each respec… Not so much the standard trainable skills, rather the talented skills, eg. Pyrobalst an Blast Wave. When you unlearn your talents, those skills disappear both from the spellbook and from the toolbar (macro versions as well). It drives me nuts, and a spare spec in my back pocket isn’t going to remove that frustration.
So, yeah 55 minute WSG and a loss FTW… Or fun at least.
Gnomer and Out!
