Honestly, this is the reason I favor self sufficiency. I have never bought enchanting mats (although I sometimes bought cheap greens to DE), I've rarely bought metal or leather.

Market turmoil kills buyers AND sellers, things become especially bad when you have an extremely high supply. I've noticed certain things selling pretty well, most old world mats from people leveling back up waiting for the expansion.

Until all this craziness, I was really liking the inflation as primarily a gatherer. . . .

Maybe it's just me but whenever I look at the prices on the AH on Cho'gall it just makes me take an alt and go gather w/e it is that I need rather then pay the ridiculous amount. Lately, I've been working on Season 2 gears for my warrior as he was the last to ding to 70 and has finish farming SSO rep (exalted with SSO and 2k gold to show for his time) so I have not gone back to doing dailys with my other 70s. I'm a hoarder by nature so I'll just keep my banks full of the BC mats since I'm not sure what I will be leveling next in class and in tradeskills.

I'm a chinese farmer. I herb and mine. I give all my herbs to a mate to make pots for our Kara group. I live of my ore gems and motes ATM

I have seen prices on Adamantite plummet... before the sunwell patch came out it was around 28g buyout. Post sunwell and the gold make dailies prices reached a lofty 38g buyout. Post WoLK release date announcement people have been selling of stacks for 22g.

This is crazy IMHO. People will still need to level up BS, Engineering and JC so there will still be a demand post x-pac release. If you have mats that are required to level a trade and don't need the cash noww is not the time to sell.

Sure its unlikely to reach 38g a stack again but i reckon its likely to move back towards the 26-30 mark. Look at thorium ore for an example. At times its as expensive as adamantite.

Post release ppl will be hoarding cash to buy their new goodies. I don't know what the new mounts cost but this will bring a liquidity crises to the game.

When you think about the crafting trades alot of the items people can learn to craft are really just gold sinks to make them spend cash until the hit 80 and can craft those yummy BOP epics. If i was a crafter i would be focussing on levelling my class before my trades.

If you can hold of selling you mats i would do so. Even the new ones that come out. Just farm until your banks full. Once the economy settles down and lots of people hit 80 will be the time to start selling again.

In the mean time i plan to trickle feed enough mats to keep me addiction to pots going.

And perhaps start another bank alt guild so I can do a 'De Beers' and keep my mats burried till people are rich enough and silly enough to pay the prices they are worth

I play on Silvermoon-US and lately the cost of primals, primal nether, nether vortex, heart of darkness, sunmotes, epic gems, blue and green quality gems and enchanting mats had plummeted for about a week after Blizzard posted the release date of WOTLK.

I suppose a lot of people wanted to get rid of their bank loads to make "some" money before the mats became less useful. Primal Fire/Water/Air which used to go for 30g were selling for as low as 9-11g. Epic cut gems going for 110g. Uncuts for 100g.

Within a week everything was back to normal in the gem and primal field but nethers, etc., were still being sold for a lot less.

This is why you can't trust your auctioneer prices.

Great post =D
