Premature Speculation
I just love the title of this post, which is in fact the only reason I am writing it.
I just saw the two words used in conjunction by Karthis from Of Teeth and Claws in a comment to The Rambling Bear’s post It’s Raining. I Swear!
I thought it really summed up the whole WoLK speculation thing.

Bigger Highs and Lower Lows
I have noticed an upswell of posts around the blog sphere lately which teeter from pure joy to pure anguish and back again.
I have noticed a whole lot of QQ and stop the QQ posts.
I have even read BRK’s latest brain post, where he tries to convince his brain that there is no point in testing various hunter skills, because they are still so out of whack, that one might as well enjoy the ganking.
I’m not fussed anymore
I must admit I have stopped worrying & getting excited. I figure that I wont be entering Northrend until next January, at which point the (in game) Beta testing will hopefully have finished, and things will have settled down enough that I can just enjoy the game.
So my question for you all is…
What news from WoLK has made you go either:
- Ohhhh Yeah! to Ummm errrr?, or
- Ummm errrr? to Ohhhh Yeah!
Doesn’t have to be Mage specific, just wondering what has given you a case of premature speculation, or have you taken your daily dose of Viagra, and you find you just keeping on going?

Ive tried to stay out of the detail in Beta reportors – I skim and surface absorb the information to file away and apply it when I should. There was a breif moment of fear with Shadow Priests, and now that seems to have settled, but given that the Pre expansion patch in the next few weeks will be changing stuff like talent trees I think I will certainly do less speculating and more planning on that part – but as to Glyphs and so on it can wait a little longer till the information is more solid..
I don’t follow all beta notes religiously either, so for me it was kind of mundane: I was unbelievably excited about inscription… then i went meh… Don’t get me wrong glyphs seem quite nice, but I’m quite disappointed about what beeing an Inscriber gives you.
I’m pretty happy about inscription and the fact that blacksmithing may finally be viable rather than the red-headed stepchild of crafting professions (with great apologies to any actual red headed step children).
However, I am pretty apprehensive about all this “restructuring” of classes. I think things generally work as they are, and although some of the new abilities I’ve read about (mostly for paladins) sound like improvements, I am hoping they don’t do more harm than good.
