Well there is some good news… No PCBH (Post Curator Black Hole) this week!
I can hardly believe it, but it is true.
We even got Prince down, and the rogue got his T4 Helm that he has been dreaming about since we entered Kara (which feels like a long time ago – which it was)
So, it must have been a good run right?
I don’t really need to give you the answer to that.
We decided we would skip the optionals, just push for those bosses we normally don’t get time for, then come back if time allowed.
Our recent regular Priest gained us a couple of hunters and we picked up a shadow priest in LFG.
So how did we go?
- Moroes – 2 wipes, then success.
- BigBadWolf – One shot
- Curator – 2 wipes, then success.
- Shade of Aran – 2 wipes, then success.
- Prince – 1 wipe, then success.
12 attempts, 5 successes. We just had a bad run. What occurred to me was that we were running with a combination of undergeared and under experienced toons.
One of the Hunter’s was the Priest’s Dad. 1st time in Kara, 7 green items
We realised at one point (Post Curator from memory) that we hadn’t seen a Misdirect from either of our hunters. After regular requests, we started to see them, but they were still infrequent. The priest did ask for a bit of patience because his father was new to it all.. but it was a struggle.
The overall WWS report shows these damage %
- Gnomeaggedon – Mage 20 %
- A Rogue 19 %
- A Hunter 14 %
- A Shadow Priest 11 %
- A Druid (feral/OT) 11 %
- A Fury Warrior (OT) 9 %
- Another Hunter 7 %
- A Tankadin 6 %
- A Holy Priest 0 %
- A Tree Druid 0 %
I am guessing that we just don’t have enough DPS (the spread is too great). We have 1 MT (Tankadin), that is new to the role, the Feral Druid and Arms Warrior swap to tanking/Off-tanking if experience has shown they will be better at it, so that reduces their score on the WWS chart. Wish that tree druid would kill more than critters too!
Still, must be positive… We did get to Prince (in about the same time as if we were doing a full clear… but… we did get there), we did take him down, and at least the Rogue got the T4 token.
There is always next week.
Gnomer and Out!

Oh big grats! It’s progression after all… and in my eyes you’re heroes, comitted to keep trying though the odds when it comes to gear and experience sometimes are very much against you.
You can look at it from that point of view: don’t be frustrated because you wipe. Instead enjoy the feeling that you’re doing something hard, you’re challenged every week in Kara. In one way it’s better than just farming badges in a bored, clearly overgeared group….
Kara can still give you an epic experience. That’s pretty cool when you think about it.
I’m going to second Lar’s point regarding the feeling of progression. As much as I enjoyed my own first full clear of Kara, I felt a bit empty about it simply because the run seemed too smooth to me. Sure, I held my own in DPS, being #2 to a rogue, but the lack of wipes felt as if I was just being run through the instance. Actually being there for wipe after wipe actually gives you that sense of accomplishment and progression when you finally get to down that boss for the first time. You should definitely be proud. Congrats!
Yeah, can’t say I am complaining “really”. I got an invite to TK the other night, so I could be seeing more, but it all comes back to why I play the game, which is my mates.
So I will continue with the wipefest in Kara until we all get sick of it.
Grats on the Prince down! Hope you get a chance to get to see the late-endgame content as well as keep going on Kara–I’m in the same situation, actually getting into a TK/SSC pug every now and then myself. =)
Have fun in Kara! It’s really good once you get into a good rhythm as a raid.
Errr… yeah. The couple of weeks since then haven’t been as successful for a variety of reasons. I wont be playing for a couple of weeks (Fridays at least – but possibly not at all), and I am going to be slowing down a bit anyway.
My friends are determined to farm all the badges out of Kara that they can, especially the newer alts, so I think that is all the content I will be seeing before expansion (and more to the point next year, as I will be away for a bit).
I think a few of my friends are getting the opportunity to run higher end stuff, but with one night a week for me (which is dedicated to running with my mates), I wont be seeing anything other than Curator… well maybe Aran, and one can hope Prince.
But really at this late stage in the game… whether I have Prince’s cloak, or the T4 helm is really quite irrelevant.
