Well another Monday, another 441 posts to read in my rss feeder… still I will take more pleasure in that than many things.
OK, so some things on my mind.
- Would you like to contribute to my Warklock twinking series?
- I thought this was a Mage blog…
- Out of the blogging closet
- The Blogging Guild
- Friday Prince showdown
- Thoughts on our Mage Spec War
Would you like to contribute to my Warklock twinking series?
So I am about 1/2 way though my epic Warlock Twink guide, and I have realised that I still haven’t finished off my twink and received any practical experience in WSG. Now while all the theory on how to prepare your twink is great, some practical input on how to play it would be better.
What I am looking for:
- Tips on playing the Lock, spells, Pets and strategies in general.
- Can be in the form of either:
a) An entire blog post/guide or
b) Misc tips
You will of course get full credit for your post or bits & pieces, so drop me a line.
I thought this was a Mage blog…
Weird thing when I was looking back through my statistics, of the top 5 posts, 3 of them are about Warlocks.
- Twinking your level 19 Warlock: Part 1.
- LFT: (Looking For Tool) Mage gear comparison spreadsheet
- Twinking your level 19 Warlock: Part 2.
- My Last 5 hours of Wow – The Gnomeaggedon Cometh
- Twinking your level 19 Warlock: Part 3.
I expect the bit of link love from Mystic Chicanery helped there, thanks for that!
But what strikes me even stranger is the one Mage post in the top 5, hasn’t even received a comment, let alone a suggestion or offer of help. Ahh well… maybe I am the only one that wants gear listed out in that way.
Out of the blogging closet
I came out of the blogging closet on Friday night, and told one of my close mates about my blog.
- His 1st reaction: “Man, that must take a lot of effort”
- His 2nd reaction “Resto 4 Life is a great site”
- His 3rd reaction (following day): “Resto 4 Life has so much great info…”
I guess I should forgive the Tree hugger for hugging trees….
The Blogging Guild
Apparently while off visiting her real life Mount Hyjal, Larisa picked up some of my vibes about being a part of a Guild of Bloggers… Nice read, as always!
Friday Prince showdown
And in a bit of personal WoW news, we finally downed Price on Friday night, thanks to the strategy over at Fireball Spam.
I must say as a Gnome, when you are all piled up on that pillar, it brings back the Whack-a-Mole healing days. I couldn’t see anything other than the other toon’s underwear, and my various UI bits & pieces (which will never be revealed because it is such a mess). So although I knew Price had gone down, I didn’t get to see his overly dramatic death spin (I am sure he does a ham-acted death spin).
Nothing dropped from him for me.. but I picked up the Ring of Recurance off the Chess Event.
Ohhh and only one DC… just after Attuman, so I expect it was a real one… We pressed on without him through 2 bosses (the timing suggested to us PC difficulties rather than disgust), but he never returned.
Thoughts on our Mage Spec War
No, I am not wavering in my determination to bring the power of Fire to the fore, but I when I read this blog post at WI, there was one pararapgh (or series of them really) that stood out for me.
So my recommendation is this: create the character you want to play. If you want to play an Arcane Mage, then come level 10, start putting points into the Arcane tree. People will tell you you’re making leveling more difficult for yourself because the tree just isn’t very good for it. They’re right. But who cares? Deal with it. Get to know the character, get to love it. If you don’t love the character by level 30, delete it. You’ll never have the personal attachment to it that you’ll need to enjoy it long-term. If you do, keep at it, learn to play it well and learn how to gear it.
I expect that Larisa and Zupa both feel the same, yes we will defend our Specs, but we reserve the right to play the spec that we feel is most fulfilling or fun when we choose to.
Anyway, enough for today…
Gnomer and Out!

Hey, what’s the fun of a spec war if you guys are going to be all touchy-feely and make with the “do what you want” mime? As someone who has been vicariously watching on the sidelines (neophyte mageling), I demand more blood, more cross-posting, and more bantering!
And congratulations on the Prince downing! That’s an awesome feeling.
Don’t worry, there is a fireblast or two coming in the mail… lol
Thanks… Prince was starting to mmmm G-rated hunh… annoy me.
I told my mates I didn’t care what we skipped, but we had to spend as long as it took to get him down on Friday… and of course we one-shot him.
This was a bit lame wasn’t it? But it’s hard to really be nasty with such great chaps around you. I rather get curious thinking that they may have a point in what they say. Interesting enough the same thing seems to happen to the others. A lot of experimenting going on now…
About writing about warlocks, I honestly don’t mind. This week you’ll find a rogue post on my blog! True!
I’m not one of those people who advocates focusing and choosing a small nieche or perspective for your blog in order to attract a huge audience. I like variety. I like to be surprised. I like to come out of my comfort zone and take part of totally different sides of the games compared to the ones that I usually see.
You can even write about hordish PvPstuff from the perspective of a shaman… I’d still come back! I like the way you write. Exactly what you write about is quite irrelevant.
True!
Coming outta the blogging closet
Man this site rocks…seriously…
i was lucky enough to have gleaned some of your wisdom regarding twink locks so i must admit i was guilty of reading those 3 blogs as well….
When i saw your read link i thought were do you get it all from…i have the key to chest if only i had the time to work out how to use it
then i saw your links to druid…kind of funny for a mage….then i remembered ur 1st 60 was a druid… and like the way i feel about my lock you probably have fond memories of your druid
Or it could just be druid envy. We all know they are the greastest even though WOW continues to nerf them
Then I saw resto and decided since the other healers i’m running with are catching me its time to learn my trade.
all i can say is well done fantastic wrok even if its all about dps obsessed mana hungry aggro pulling squishies.
keep up the great work
Welcome to the big world of blogging Tree Hugger… I guess I will have to start writing about you by name from now on… just to keep you coming back to the Magey-side of life
