Well I have been seeing everyone else writing about them, but didn’t have anything to write myself, well until today.
Last night, after joining BA chat for the first time, and realizing I had never seen Leafy‘s site, I went and had a gander. There was a post there about a fishing book (Weather-beaten Journal) that allows you to track fish. I had never heard about it, and really haven’t been interested in leveling my fishing on Gnomeaggedon. But I am a little nutty and decided I wanted the book.
Checked in with Daily quest giver, but I realised my 105 fishing skill wasn’t worth much.
So I grabbed my trusty fishing pole and headed off to fishable waters.. only to discover I couldn’t even use my fishing pole because my skill ws so low.
Anyway I had been fishing for ages when I get a whisper asking if I would help a warlock with a port… err hell yeah, anything is better than fishing!
It took them a while to come to me, but that was ok, I was fishing every pool and pile of trash I could find, in the end fishing off the docks.
They arrived, I helped summon, I gave them all a quick AI, and off I went to fish… off they went to clear Scarlet Monastary.
Today, while clearing my bags of all the items that needed to be DE’d, I notice a strange mail…
I was stoked!
Anyway, I didn’t need the cash, so I did a quick reply…
Actually I was happy as Larry anyway… guess what dropped off my last cast of the day, the one that brought me to 200 fishing skill:
Gnomer and Out!

What a lovely little story. And I bet there’s no coincidence you got the book… Praise the godess of Elune or whatever they’d say in the crappy Warcraft novels that recently sneaked into my mind!
Maybe there IS some justice after all. Nice deeds are rewarded, sooner or later. Sooner i this case.
Nice story!
Fishing, while totally boring can save and make you a ton of cash. If you are merely intrested in leveling you can go all the way from 1 to 375 fishing in Storwind. The only thing that matters about where you are is possibly catching special fish. The skill up rate doesn’t change no matter where you are.
Ah, yes. Sorry about getting you on the fishing treadmill.
Worth it for the end-game buffs, though.
yeah fishing treadmill…
I have only previously (Pre-TBC) worried about it as a hunter (for pet food) and as a mean of leveling cooking.
This time around when I was leveling cooking I still used fish, but spent 10 minutes clicking at the AH, rather than 10 hours clicking at a bobber.
I found that as the buffs come from the cooked variety, in reality all I needed was leveled cooking… and a fishing mate. As my mates have more time to grind, they catch the fish – and in fact usually cook them too.
Mind you 99% of the time my food of choice is blackened basilisk… which I fish with 2 fireballs… nothing better than grenade fishing….
