as a newbie frost mage, i suggest you stick to your guns. there’s something about going out of your way just to do something that you truly enjoy that is very rewarding at the end. sure, as a frostie in only heroic blues and soon-to-be 3/3 frozen shadoweave, i am never going to be the top of the dps charts, i still enjoy the sheer flavor of being an icy asskicker. if you want to spend 1k gold on boosting your damage, then all the power to ya!

i think i just stepped into the world of mage blogging for the first time today, adding so many people to my blogroll. and yeah, you’re one of them.

I’d probably nix it and stick with your current enchant. While I fully agree that it’s important to improve your character by snagging the gear, gems, and enchants needed to be successful, it’s possible that you can go too far.

One of the things that I’ve noticed lately are flocks of raiders currently on Karazhan in terms of progression (in other words, not for badge farming) that are running around in the new badge gear. This gear is so good that it’s often referred to as Tier 6-equivalent or Tier 5.5 — which is well beyond the gear required for Karazhan. So while the enchants and better gems will definitely improve their performance further, it’s actually overkill at this level of progression.

Back and forth I go on the matter again. Bleh! Bottom line: I’d probably stick with your current enchant up to the point where your progression in raiding requires that added boost in damage.

I agree with Zupa. You never know when you’ll reconsider your spec. I thought I’d stay fire forever. I didn’t. Really seems like a waste in my eyes to put all that gold into +10 dmg, especially since your playing hours are so limited.

Frost! What will happen to my big balls of fire then? I can already throw snowballs… why throw frostbolts?

Even in RL I have an aversion to the cold… can’t say it’s my fantasy to fill my gills with frost…

Of course you never know…

You make a good point about the gems… I could probably buy 3 epic gems for the same price.

Of course, there is a good chance that in 6 months my Dragon’s horde of shards will be as valuable as strange dust.

I don’t know.. I would chase an item that gave me an extra 10 damage, but I am hesitating at a 1,000 gold for the same result… I have dropped 1,000 on the AH for an enchanting formula or two that I will probably never use either…

Maybe I will just hold out for a OMFG… It dropped moment, and keep the dagger for the day you convert me with your icy fingers of death.
